It is normal for companies to issue press statements using alibi when closing shop. Learn from Enron, Parmalat etc.
Of course, the insecurity in Jos wass not the issue here. They opened shop after Jos Crisis started. Also, up till last month, they were still offering Jos Staff salary increment but surprised about how adamant the Jos-Based workers had become on getting befitting salaries after knowing what goes on in other call centres.

Without revealing much, I will state that it was the only way to go for cnssl. MTN not happy with the way they were handling the Jos call centre palava. It was also discovered that the PAYE/Income taxes they've been deducting from the Jos Staff have not been remitted accordingly to Board of Inland Revenue. There are also some staff that had pension contributions deducted and not remitted. So many issues came up that can eventually incriminate cnssl.

Way forward- use the popular insecurity situation as an alibi to close shop, while MTN gives a new seperate entity to take-over the Call Centre and start fresh operations.

While it lasted, cnssl owes a lot of its success stories to Jos Operations. It was damn profitable!

You are not there when the decision was made, so we all have to assume they are telling the truth. We all know there are security challenges in Jos.
I am not commenting based on assumptions but based facts on ground. I was opportuned to have an MTN direct staff at the same call center who gave me the gist of what transpired all those while. Mtn has about 20 permanent staffs there and they know what have been going on. At a stage they themselve went on solidarity protest for the CNSSL staffs.

Get a grip Mr governor, that state has been plagued with security issues since God knows when. Deal with that and other business will follow.

MTN and their slave masters employers should consider relocating from Nigeria now now because, Nigeria is no longer safe for their milking. Rubbish. If I may ask: Is MTN and contractors still in Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Maiduguri, Bauchi and Sokoto states? If yes, they need to be stoned.

ogalanya: The directive from the plateau state govt wont affect MTN adversely. If they really want 2 get at MTN, they should start by revoking the C of O's of their base stations in the state for 'security reasons' also .
