KENYA WANTS TO HOST 2024 OLYMPICS. WHY NOT?
Kenya's Prime minister, Raila Odinga,says he wants to see the Olympics in Nairobi come 2024.

Acknowledging that his country's bid wont be easy considering the fact that the American cities of New York and San Francisco along with Durban in South Africa could be thinking of bidding too.
Mr Odinga said sub-Saharan Africa’s time to host the games had come as the region’s trillion-dollar economy was set to boom over the next decade.

“Kenya had the confidence as far back as 1968 to consider bidding for the Olympics,” said Kenya’s Prime Minister, Raila Odinga to the Financial Times.

“That is the spirit we need to recapture. We need to bring back that confidence and say we can do it. It is necessary to take a look back at where are coming from and where we want to go, because we have been drifting for too long,” Odinga said.

Kenya is currently 27th in the London 2012 medal table with seven medals.
On Thursday, Kenyan David Rudisha became the first athlete to set a new world record on the track at the London Games.

Other countries thinking about bidding for 2024 include Argentina, Morocco and Egypt.

Think we should bid too

Nigeria should also bid for the 2024 games. I believe that by then the security situation would have greatly improved, and the necessary infrastructure put in place.
I would propose using the Abuja national stadium as the Athletics venue (at least 10,000 more seats should be added to it). The soccer venues could be in Lagos, Calabar, Enugu and other cities. On the financing aspect, the private sector should contribute about 60% of the funds, while the government (Federal and states) should contribute the remaining 40%. This way, the government will not go broke (ala Greece) due to hosting the olympics.

Kenya wants to Host 2024 Olympics. Nigeria Nko?

The Nigerian way would be to back Kenya in her ambition as an African nation to host the Olympics 2024 unless of course it had been our intention to do so before Kenya muted intention to do so in which case Kenya should back us. Our superior attitude may not be popular but it is best for Africa.

We don't want to start adopting the jealous attitude of one particular West African Nation by heaping insult on Kenya and going behind the backs of Kenyan delegations to pally with oyibo (in the coonish belief that uncle tomisim would get us influence) to point out why Kenya shouldn't get it.

are there nigerians who still believe we are still the african power house? pls come out of your cave and stop living in the past. we are a good for nothing country. we are like a big fat fool. we are a useless, lawless, corruption infested, dark world country. we are outdated and fall behind every other country of this world.
it is easier to host a world cup which we cannot than to host an Olympic game. if we will have to opportunity to host the game, let us put our minds in the 30s no this 20s.
outside nigeria, ppl go to toilet before washing their hands so nobody will give u hosting rights with hope that u will fix security problems and build the necessary structures. you must get to a certain standard before anyone can look your way so let us talk about other issues.
other countries of the world value the lives of their citizens not like what we have here.
