Hello. Actually your gear lever has nothing to do with the condition of your gear box. The problem with your gear lever is most likely the brake switch. Its situated near the brake pedal in your car. When its faulty, it becomes extremely hard to disengage the gear lever from park. Anyway to test whether or not its the brake switch that is giving issues, depress the brake pedal when next you have extreme difficulty disengaging the gear lever and have someone stand behind your vehicle to observe wether or not your stop lamps(brake lights) light up. If they do not light up while the brake pedal is being depressed then your brake switch is the culprit. It shouldn't cost more than 2,000 to fix. Endeavour to give me a feedback. Hope this was helpful. Cheers.
