Northern Governors Want Power To Discipline Judges by pcicero(m): 1:16pm On Aug 13, 2012
Governors from the 19 Northern states are seeking constitutional powers that will enable them (and other governors) to discipline judges serving in respective state judiciaries. Towards that goal, the governors have called for the establishment of judicial service commissions in each state. The commissions are to be empowered to appoint and discipline all state judicial officials.

In a communiqué issued at the end of their periodic meeting and signed by Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, the Northern Governors Forum stated that there should be a system known as the  State Judicial Commission (JSC) which appoints and discipline all state judicial officials.

If the governors have their way, then the National Judicial Council, which currently has the sole power to discipline judges, will lose such power.

In addition to demanding the right to hire and fire state judicial workers, including judges, the governors are also insisting that the local governments be put under them.

If anyone is still wondering why the north is so backward, the above summarises it.

I bet those clowns have never heard of the term 'separations of power'. Bunch of ignoramuses!

But seriously (and I say this without any bigoted intent), what's the problem with these northerners?
