Murtala Nyako, the Adamawa State Governor, on Sunday in Yola accused politicians of using the deadly sect(Boko-Haram) to perpetuate violence and instability to settle score with their opponents. Nyako who stated this while breaking Ramadan fast with labour leaders and journalists in Yola, revealed that the aim of the politicians was to create the impression that there was a religious war in the country so as to heat up the polity. The governor who was visibly worried further stated that the madness which was exhibited by the Boko-Haram and its sponsors in the last one year must be stopped in the interest of humanity. “We must all work together to restore peace and order”he stated. He also disclosed that the nation has a long history of peaceful co-existence without issue of faith being questioned, adding that people have inter-married and lived together as one. The governor further explained that Boko-Haram fundamentalists was not a new anything in the muslim part of the country, stressing that it has always being accommodated and managed by Islamic religious leaders, blaming the current violent on politicians and criminals. Nyako, who decried the increased security challenges across the country, especially in the North-eastern region, said the situation was seriously affecting the progress and development effort of the region. http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/08/13/politicians-behind-boko-haram-violence-northern-nigeria-governor-nyako/ |
