Monday, September 3, 2012 - In what has left residents of Kapkona village in Narok County shocked and in grief, a beast of burden was found raped and murdered at a bush in the area.

According to the donkey’s owner, she had sent her grand children to draw water from a River in the area but they could not find the donkey from where it was tethered. They reported to their grandmother who sent them in search of the donkey.

After hours of searching they found the donkey tied up at a tree near the river and lay dead. The children rushed to inform their grandmother who thought their information was a hoax and thus she sent her eldest son.

At the bush, the 70 year old woman’s son found the donkey tied from behind and front using ropes and its female reproductive organs seemed as though they had been tampered with.

He also found shoes, a mosquito net and a jumper. He called his mother and villagers who arrived at the scene to find the beast of burden dead and blood oozing from its genitals.

Women in the area wailed as though one of their own had died and condemned the man behind the act, claiming that there were too many women in the area and if any man was unable to sweet talk a woman he should say, so that they find a mate for him.

Joseph Korir the area chief said that the man behind the killing and raping is the same kind of man who rapes children and elderly women in the area leaving them for dead.

An investigation on the incident has been launched and police hope to bring to book the responsible culprit.
