Blatter has chosen the moment to declare that England have "broken a principle of international football". Blatter stated: "I have never seen Italy, Germany, Brazil or Argentina with a coach from another country. "In fact, most of the best teams have a coach from their own country." "But look at the international scene now. Which foreign teams are coached by English coaches? And where are the English footballers playing abroad? "It is clear something has changed in terms of the world's appreciation of English football." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7174093.stm |

The same Blatter that said the future of football is female football. I'll rather listen to my 5 year old newphew. |

i think Blatter is suffering from an unknown dental ailment. he needs to see his dentist. His dental cavities are sore and dripping blood |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 3:39pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
Even if he spews rubbish atimes I bet he is right about this. How can the country that claims to be the home of football be employing expatriates to teach them the game they originated? They should actually be grouped together with Greece, Scotland, Holland, Russia, Switzerland and Nigeria. Countries that employ foreigners Brazil, Germany, Italy, France Argentina, Holland, Czech can never employ a foreign coach. That shows the difference in class. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by lare: 3:45pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
akinalabi: LOL! Did he actually say that? That is criminally punishable by law. A whole FIFA president saying that. |

Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by tkb417(m): 7:45am On Jan 08, 2008 |
Brazil, Germany, Italy, France Argentina, Holland, Czech can never employ a foreign coach. thats why the countries in bold too will belong to the same group with England. They cannot win anything in modern day football. will they? im not sure Czech can play Angola |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 9:23am On Jan 08, 2008 |
Holland still won Euro cup in 1988, and Czech won Euro cup too and played a major final in 1996 what England has not been able to do in 32 years |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by tkb417(m): 11:11am On Jan 08, 2008 |
from your arguments about the UCL being a bigger trophy compared to other trophies. ill be happy to let you know that Holland and Czech are not in the same category as England cos England has won the world cup before. Holland and czech have not done that since football as a game was formed!!!! 32 years is small compared to the years Holland and czech have been playing soccer. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by tkb417(m): 11:25am On Jan 08, 2008 |
did you say Czech has won the euro cup b4? were you trying to say Czech+slovakia=Czech Czech has not won nor Slovakia Aside that, from the 8-9 past winners, weak countries like Greece, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Denmark have all won that trophy before. so, keep your fingers crossed, England will get der one day. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 2:13pm On Jan 08, 2008 |
Blatter gives 50 suggestions a day. 51 of them are always bad. If Blatter says God exists, I will have a rethink about HIS existence. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 3:23pm On Jan 08, 2008 |
what is wrong about what Blatter said? All the top footballing countries can NEVER use a foreign coach. Its only those below that use foreign coaches because the ones they have locally are very incompetent or better still non existent as in the case of England. Incompetent coaches, mediocre players, Crappy TEAM. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by ndubest(m): 5:04pm On Jan 08, 2008 |
Sepp Blaster comment shouldnt suprise anybody He has been promoting the gromming of local talent in english football and other countries ATIMES I WONDER WHETHER HE WANTS EPL TO SACK ALL THE FOREIGN PLAYER |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 12:06am On Jan 11, 2008 |
Blatter knows what he is saying He has been around for long to know more about the game. Blatter once insinuated that female footballers should wear tighter clothes Funny right but why not? Why should Tennis stars like Sharapova and Serena be able to show their thing and Marta and brigit Prinz not. Tighter clothes would make female football more interesting wonder why beach Volleyball attracts a lot of fans . Also have you wonder why a match involving Anna Kournikova not in world top 20 would command more viewership than Martina Hingis or Henin Hardene at Wimbledon Blatter may be old but he makes sense most time. |

Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by onavae(m): 11:02am On Jan 11, 2008 |
however una look blatter, it takes nothing away from the fact that england has lost it completely when it comes to international football, period! |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 12:49pm On Jan 11, 2008 |
dayokanu: Maybe we're talking about two different Blatters here. And if you regard suggeting tighter clothings for women as a top suggestion to make for a FIFA president, then I bow out of discussing this. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by yemmight(m): 5:30pm On Jan 11, 2008 |
Honestly i think Blatter was very right. I cannot imagine a country like England cannot produce a citizen as a coach. Look at the major Premiership teams, you will hardly see one English Coach. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 6:47pm On Jan 11, 2008 |
When the National team is coached by a foreigner and the top teams coached by Foreigners No wonder England does not have a defined football pattern Brazilians are known for good football which the pass down generation to generation, Dutch for total football, Italians for strong defence, Germans for high work rate and dont give them dead ball situation. England is not known for anything!!! Why because an English man with his footballing psychology would be sacked and a Swede with a different method would be appointed and replaced by another Englishman later by an Italian with catennaccio Imagine Brazil, Germany, Holland, France being coached by an Italian ?? |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by ritchboy(m): 10:09pm On Jan 11, 2008 |
Dat doesnt take away d fact dat a vulture wud do a beta job dan blatter as president. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 10:56pm On Jan 11, 2008 |
@ Richboy, This guy has been in football ever since and he knows a lot about the game you can sit there and call him names or draw comparison but he remains at the helm of football and his opinion holds a lot of weight |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by cooljoe(m): 10:24am On Jan 12, 2008 |
Blatter should learn to shut up, he talks to much for my liking, what a bore, used to admire him, but no more, though, I think he's doing a nice job, he should just learn to keep quiet at times. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 9:56pm On Jan 13, 2008 |
@ dayokanu Blatter says he has never seen Italy, Germany, Brazil or Argentina with a coach from another country. No sane person can say that! Blatter was ALIVE DURING THE 1954 World Cup finals in Switzerland. Italy's coach was Hungarian, Lajos Czeizler! Do you think I was kidding when I said Blatter has lost it? And you also said you can't imagine Holland being coached by a foreigner. In the 1978 World Cup finals, the manager of Holland, the team that reached the final, was from AUSTRIA! His name is Ernst Happel. Be careful when you make statements. I'm just around the corner. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by lare: 2:08pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
@ akinalabi Where did u dig that from? One has to be careful to make assertions around you. RESPECT! @ dayokanu Come and respond to that. Abi you don run? |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 3:54pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
That was a quote by Sepp Blatter from BBC website with the link. "In fact, most of the best teams have a coach from their own country." Most is the word meaning In the greatest number of instances One exception in so many is okay. not 2 foreign coach in 2 years from a so called top footballing country Eriksson and Capello |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 3:59pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
That link you gave, I saw this statement. "I have never seen Italy, Germany, Brazil or Argentina with a coach from another country," said Blatter. Or do I need a pair of glasses? Egbami ke. If a foootball newbie sees that, he will feel confident to talk about it becaue the FIFA president said it. He would have been misled. I remember Blatter saying no South American country has never won the world cup hosted in Europe. Can you imagine that? How can I respect such blatant idiocy. |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 4:12pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
Blatter might have forgotten Sweden 1958 where Brazil won But he is still FIFA president and more of an authority than most people. George Bush says nonsense but he is still America's present and more of an authority than most people |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 4:32pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
dayokanu: Just imagine that. Like that is okay. You see there is a difference between having bad ideas and getting facts and figures wrong. Blatter does/has both but I find the second one more worrisome. It's easy to mislead people that way. You can tell me Marcus Bent is the greatest footballer in history and I will respect your view even though I don't agree with it. But if you tell me Marcus Bent plays for Manchester United, that is when I get worried. That is what Blatter can do. Get my drift? |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by dayokanu(m): 4:43pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
Yeah makes sense. Blatter makes costly gaffes a times. Akin Alabi, I wonder why you are a Man Utd fan why not a better club. Its so rare to see EPL fans that are knowledgeable and make sense with post. Join Real, Milan or Munich. meanwhile its still ok you don't support Arsenal or Chelsea but you could do better than Man Utd Get my drift |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by akinalabi(m): 5:00pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
The reason why there are not so many knowledgeable football fans is because most of them are newbies and they diss history too much. It takes time and experience before one can grasp the intricacies of the game. It doesn't matter if you have DSTV or SKY at home. = = = = = = = I support two teams in my life. Shooting stars and Man Utd. I love both clubs like I love life. Even if they don't win nothing for 100 years. Join another team? I'm sure you're joking. No true fan joins other teams. Can you leave Bayern because other clubs have won more UCL? I'm an official Man Utd member and I'll remain one for life. Besides why won't I love Man Utd? It's a GLORIOUS clubside. Granted 2 champions league titles is not enough and we are the first to admit it. You need to visit old trafford one day and get hooked (although we could be too quiet at times ) It a magnficient clubside. Listen to this song we used to sing during the treble era? http://odeo.com/audio/2500233/view I love United! |
Re: Sepp Blatter Shocked About England by Cougar: 5:21pm On Jan 14, 2008 |
@ akinalabi, i drink to that. no club does it better than man utd. they have been able to work on a philosophy that guarantees result and entertainment. from george best to cantona to beckham and now cristiano ronaldo. man utd deserves praise in the way they stopped the roman revolution from taking everything. imagine the epl without man utd last season!!!! |
