Flash! New Lagos Traffic Law: Instant Death For LASAMBUS Staff Hit On The Head By Policemen; Officers On the Run!

For a reason yet to be ascertained, Jimoh Fasasi, a driver with the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), the arm of the Lagos State Ministry of Health saddled with the responsibility of promptly providing medical aid and/or rescuing victims of emergencies to the hospital, died instantly from an injury he sustained when policemen suspected to be attached to the Barracks Police Station, Surulere hit him on the head as he was heading for his home after work.

Pilot Jimoh as he was fondly called by colleagues closed from work yesterday, Tuesday 11th September, left his office (General Hospital Lagos) on his personal motorcycle popularly called ‘okada’, unfortunately to the untimely death in the hands of policemen paid to protect his life.

At about 6pm, Fasasi was reportedly stopped by policemen at the Barracks Bus stop, in the Surulere area of Lagos State.

Eye witness account revealed that the police officers demanded money from him, but on his refusal, hit him on the head. Report say the police officers took to their heels immediately they saw that the victim had died.

Report say he had identified himself by showing the police officers his identity card when they stopped him. The motorcycle he rode also had the LASAMBUS plate (registration) number which many thought was enough proof that he was not using the motorbike for commercial use. It was also confirmed to News Bytes that he wore his uniform and had the Lagos State Staff tag hung on his neck.

The colleague who alerted News Bytes said “He (Jimoh) called the head pilot of LASAMBUS to come to his aid at the police station which is at Barrack Bus Stop, Surulere, after which an ambulance left the General hospital Lagos Island to go and iron things out on his behalf, but on getting to barrack bus stop, there was a crowd shouting ‘come and see your staff lying on the ground’. The police officers were nowhere to be found. Jimoh was however found, lifeless on the road. The ambulance crew then picked up his body and reported things to the rest of the staff”

The mood at the LASAMBUS is that of shock as members of staff expressed anger, querying the motive behind the policemen killing their dear colleague Jimoh.

Some also said that some policemen hide under the guise of the new Lagos Traffic law to extort money from motorists.

The position of the police on the incident is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.

It was in this platform yesterday i recommended that Nigeria police force should be outrightly face out- our police are the rubbers, tout and culpable of criminal act. No amount of inducement can change Nigeria police, corruption flow in their system from head to toe; integrity is downward interpreted in their statutory guides. Let us embrace Malaysia method, it lay off all police officers and replace with young and fresh graduates, this automatically assist on employment and rejuvenate their security system.
This country will completely finish without above solution on our police.
