Obasanjo - PDP Faces Extinction In Lagos by PaulJohn1: 7:37am On Sep 14, 2012

A former Nigeria President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday called for peace among the rank and file of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.
He said if party members failed to reconcile, the party might go into extinction in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former president made the appeal at a Joint Annual General Assembly of the Lagos PDP Women and Youth Vanguard.
Represented by Jide Damazio, the PDP zonal Secretary, South-West, Mr. Obasanjo said there was need for true reconciliation in the party in the state.

“I urge you to strive to identify yourselves with how to bring peace to Lagos PDP. “If we don’t forget our animosity and work as one, we may be swept away,’’ he said. “You must all strive to ensure reconciliation among warring factions in the rank and file of the party in Lagos,” he added.

Mr. Obasanjo, however, urged the youth and women to beware of the opposition planting the seed of discord in the party. According to him, you must all reach out to the gladiators of the party in the state to work for the uplifting of the party. Mr Olalere Gbadamosi, a 2011 governorship aspirant of the party, stressed the need for the members to work as one to wrest power in the state.

The Chief Adviser of the Youth Vanguard and 2011 governorship aspirant of the Lagos PDP, Mr Salis Owolabi, appealed to chieftains of the party to come together and work for the party’s victory in the 2015 polls. “The youth vanguard programme is designed to bring unity to the party but you know that in any dispute, there are diehards who will never agree to anything,” he said.

Mr Sheriff Adepoju, the President of the Lagos PDP Youth Vanguard, said the youth would move to their leaders in thousands to ensure that there was reconciliation. He said that for the party to remain relevant in Lagos, the leaders should sheathe their swords and be good crisis managers. Mr.Adepoju attributed the rancour in the party to arrogance, dichotomy and selfishness in some leaders.

The president of the Lagos PDP Youth Vanguard said  the outfit did not belong to any faction but was formed to complement the efforts of the party structure in the state. NAN

That's why ACN has broom now. What is the relevance of having failed party in South West, not just Lagos. We are yet to see states where the party has improved lives of the people.

I think they should be cool with North, S/East and S/South(-Edo). They should forget about the S/West + Edo. We'll manage LP and ACN.

States PDP has improved the lives of people include:

Rivers State
Akwa-Ibom State
Plateau State
Anambra State (Ngige)
Katsina State
Jigawa State
Bayelsa State (Under Mr. Goodluck Jonathan)
Cross Rivers (Duke)

Apart from Lagos and Edo States which other ACN state is working? Stop being a regionalist. It's obvious you have not travelled out of Lagos state. U guys should stop being myopic. Performance is based on the individual and not party affiliation. All the parties have d same agenda.
2015 vote for an individual that will perform and not party.

I don't really see the need for this, If PDP don't work in Lagos state then we should not try to persuade people into liking the party. The main question should be who is fit to rule? not considering the party or any other political affiliation.

Katsina- False
Jigawa- False
Plateau- False
Bayelsa(GEJ)- past glory
Cross river(Duke)- Past glory

What's the percentage of the working governors in PDP to that of the ACN?

May i know your parameters for deciding which is a performing state or not.Have you travelled to all the states of federation to judge which are the best states in terms of performance? Are you judging from newspaper and TV propaganda to measure their performance?Have you taken into consideration each state allocation to match their performance? Most states in Nigeria inclusive of those you mentioned are not viable. Please desist from saying what you know not.Akwa Ibom,Rivers,Bayelsa have huge allocations which are not commesorate with what you can see on ground.Plateau and Katsina are non performing, Edo and Cross River under Duke can be an exception
