How can the government purnish a retired teacher who managed to build a piece of property within Lagos State because he didnt beutify the perimeter of his property. Some things doesnt make sense in Nigeria, too much excesses on the part of the government.

The law made it mandatory for landlords to beautify the perimeter of their properties or face punishment. The government will even purnish you for smoking in your car. Even in the West, it is not unlawful to smoke in your car. Weird issues in Lagos.....

Friends, Whats your take?

This beautifying of a house should be willingly and not forced on people by the government. Where was the government when people were building their houses? I think the Government should think twice cos they are putting the cart before the horse. They should be more concerned with the provision of social amenities rather than making laws which would be difficult to implement.

OP you ask these questions as if you don't know that all this legislation is deliberate and well thought-out. You say its obnoxious and oppressive, well that's exactly how they want it to be. Search the UN's Agenda 21.

Soon, you won't be able visit places of worship except when the mighty state executive and legislature allow you to.

Mark it, that day is just round the corner.

Many of us when we travel abroad, we will come back and condem our governmets for not making our enviroment like that. But one similar enviromental law we will complain and say all manner of things(grammar), the truth is that Nigeria is due for many laws that can improve our enviroment, psycology, mood and general well being that our law makers are shying away from because of this criticism. As a trained enviromentalist, enviromental psycologist, enviromental health manager and landscape achitect i will even encourage them to go a step futher. You may not knw the enviromental impact of somebody who build on all his/her land without given space for green(trees, flowers, and space) in his compound, no toilet, overcrowded house and other abuse all in the name of poverty. Nigerians should rather find out about some instead of complaining and condeming.
