Urgent Responses Needed by idea(m): 3:14pm On Jan 14, 2008
I need contributions from lawyers and other members in the house.
I'm a post paid customer of MTN Nigeria with a limit of N5000 monthly.
I have a serious issue with MTN.I browsed the net using bluetooth connection with my laptop and got an outrageous bill.
I browsed on Tuesday and Wednesday but i was not debited then on Thursday i had to reconfirm by using someone's prepaid line to browse.Lo and behold, the credit was depleted.

On Friday evening, i checked my balance and saw N22000 debit. within 10 minutes i checked my balance again and saw N64000 debit, i tried again and saw N94000 debit. at this point i was forced to call the customer care to inquire why the varying bills. i was told there system was not updating the bill before then and my limit is N15000 monthly, which I never knew of. the customer service personnel told me that my bill was N78000. when i challenged him of the huge bill that why should they allow me to exceed my limit, he responded by telling me that "that's why it's a contract line"

On Jan 12 2008 at 2:21am, I got a text message from MTN(2348031030000) saying "As at Jan 12 00:07:31 2008 your balance was -100181.3 which has passed 766% of your limit. To check your latest balance dial 30001.

On Jan 13 2008 at 12:25am, I got another text message from MTN(0803) saying "As at Jan 12 00:07:31 2008 your balance was -100181.3 which has passed 766% of your limit. To check your latest balance dial 30001.

As at Monday 14th January 2008 the bill is N119000 debit. Although I have reported this development to the officer in charge of Postpaid in my organization.

My grouse with MTN Nigeria, is why should their system allow me to exceed my limit by that margin because on several occasions I've been suspended on voice calls when i exceed N5000. I then felt that worst case is when I get to N5000 I'd be cut off from browsing.

My fellow Nairaland members, what do I do?
Lawyers in the house do i have a case?
