The Audi A4 B5 is pretty reliable. Most of the mechanicals from the previous Audi 80 B4 were carried over, the 2,8 V6 engine was also used in the Audi 80, though it was updated in the A4 from late '97, becoming a 2,8 V6 30V, as opposed to the 2,8 V6 12V in the older Audi 80.

You don't specify an engine type / capacity? I would advice you go for the 1,6 8V or 1,8 20V. Both are 4 cylinder engines, with the 1,6 being a simpler design, with a more conventional SOHC (Single Over Head Cam) cylinder head with 8 valves. The 1,8 has a DOHC (Double Over Head Cam) cylinder head. More advanced, and also more of a challenge to the average Nigerian mechanic.

Lastly, these cars arrive in Nigeria, and whether by accident, ignorance or deliberate dishonesty, are often claimed to be a lot newer than they actually are. I've seen '95 models claimed to be '00 cars. I've been working on Audi and Volkswagen longer than some Nairalanders have been born, and know the changes that occured in various Audi and Volkswagen models over the years, regardless of how subtle these changes were.

Can you post a picture of the car you're interested in? And / or a VIN number? I'll then be able to tell you if it's truly a '99 model.

Any car can be fixed. The wiring was damaged by a Nigerian "rewire" who was trying to bypass a fault, or convert the car from its original state.

Sure, but what model of Audi? It's like asking what Africa's like, and not mentioning countries. Audi's a make, but what model are you interested in?? And I'll need a specific year, 2002 - 2013 is way too wide, and splits down the various models into series.
