Please.. My  9800 Camera Isn't Starting Up by dadashaibi(m): 11:00pm On Sep 27, 2012
Raising my phone up to snap myself, I saw that the flash light and shutter sound didn't actioned, the screen remains black till now and the video too keeps saying 'unable to start vidoe.. The camera is opening just that the screen remains black and not capturing anything... Pleas I need someone to help me with a good idea. Thanks

Re-insert the battery i.e remove the battery and put it back then try it.

Have done that several times, I did security wipe, SD card repair and formating, logs clear and all sorts... But all to no avail.

Go to computer village and see a specialist.

The Device Self Test Application on the BlackBerry® smartphone is used as a hardware diagnostic tool. To run the program, complete the following steps:

BlackBerry® 6 and BlackBerry® 7:

On the home screen on the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
Select Device.
Select Device and Status Information.
On the Status screen, type test. Read the pop up message then click OK.
Press the BlackBerry (Menu) key.
Select Start.
NOTE: For BlackBerry smartphones that utilize only a virtual keyboard, it is necessary to press the BlackBerry (Menu) key, then select Show Keyboard before typing test.

A pop up window will ask Would you like to be guided through the test process?

Choose Yes to perform all tests in a guided mode. To choose a specific test select No.

When selecting No, a list of available tests will display on the Test Configuration screen. Place a check mark next to the desired test(s).

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Run.

Follow the instructions for each test. When prompted to move to the next test case choose Yes.

When prompted with the question Does this test pass?, choose Yes or No depending on the results.

If the test failed, follow the instructions and enter the reason behind the failure.

BlackBerry® Device Software 4.3 to 5.0:

On the home screen on the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
Select Status.
On the Status screen, type test.
Note: On BlackBerry smartphones that support SureType® technology, use the multi-tap input method.

Press the BlackBerry (Menu) key.
Select Start.

Note: To display the menu from the Test Configuration screen, click the trackball.

On the Test Configuration screen, select the features that you want to test. Click Run.
Follow the instructions for each test. When prompted to move to the next test case choose Yes.
When prompted with the question Does this test pass?, choose Yes or No depending on the results.
If the test failed, follow the instructions and enter the reason for the failure.
To view a test report, complete the following steps:

BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7:

Press the BlackBerry (Menu) key or the trackpad.
Choose View.
