Sidmach Develops E-reult Portal For WAEC by Slimboy94(m): 8:11am On Oct 03, 2012
With the successful full digitization of its past
years examinations results, the West African
Examinations Council (WAEC) in conjunction
with Sidmach Technologies Limited, has
developed an online results verification portal.
The e-results portal will domicile online results
of examinations conducted by WAEC from 1980
till date .
With this, details will be captured alongside are
candidates’ bio data, subjects with
corresponding grades as well as passport
photographs.
A good resource and verifiable tool for
employers of labour, institutions of higher
learning, government agencies, foreign embassies
and consulates, etc, the e-Results access will
among others, help curb result falsification,
check impersonation and eradicate trauma
associated with loss of document.
However, explaining how the e-Results
Verification Portal works, the Chief Technical
Officer of Sidmach Technologies, Mr. Dayo
Arogundade said, “To access the service, an
interested organisation needs to launch the
WAEC website.
‘WAEC Results Verification’ link, make payment if
using for the first time and complete the
subscription form. Username and password
generated will be used for subsequent
transaction.” The solution, developed using the
Microsoft Visual Studio.Net with SQL Server
backend, is very secured.
Speaking at the official launch of the portal in
Lagos, the Managing Director of Sidmach , Mr.
Hassan Alao said, “It is indeed refreshing to note
that the WAEC online results verification portal
will promote integrity and efficiency.
Ultimately it would make life easier for students,
individuals, institutions and organisations that
require the service. One can only but imagine
the socio-economic advantages that will accrue
to the nation as a result of the time, money and
other resources that would be saved with the
introduction of this service.’’
He f described the launching as yet another first
in improving the authenticity and integrity in the
service delivery process of the nation’s
educational sector.
Alao commended the leadership and
innovations that the HNO and WAEC had
demonstrated in developing and deploying the
service, noting that the council blazed the trail in
e-registration of candidates for examinations.
Speaking earlier, the outgoing Head of the
National Office, WAEC, Dr Iyi Uwadiae said, “With
the launching of the WAEC online results
verification portal, the council has, again moved a
step higher in the business of conducting public
examinations.
The launching of the Online Results Verification
Portal is coming almost 10 years after the
launching of the Online Results Checking Portal
known as WAEC-Direct, in February 2003 and
eight years after the take off of the electronic
registration portal in November 2004;
commencing with the registration of candidates
for the May/June 2005 West African Senior
School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).”
