The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan has taken his morbid hatred of the Yorubas to a new level as exemplified by his 52nd Independence Anniversary which saw him cutting the anniversary cake in the presence of other major tribes that constitute Nigeria except the Yoruba people. The Hausa/Fulani, Igbo, Middlebelt and of course the Ijaw, were all happily represented.

Jonathan whose election was made possible by a swing vote from the Yoruba West in 2011 has shown through his actions and deeds that he despises the Yoruba people. He started by first ensuring that the Yoruba hardly occupy any tangible position in his government in flagrant violation of the federal character principle. Most of his Yoruba ministers are in fact mere ministers of state who are at the mercy of their senior ministers.

In a country where ministers barely do anything but solely loot the monies allocated to their ministries, even the Yoruba ministers are unable to join their other thieving colleagues in the task of equitable stealing from the national treasury. A case in point is the ongoing cold-war between the Minister of State of the FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide and the substantive Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed over the sharing of security vote. Bala Mohammed, report says, has been single handedly ravishing the money to the chagrin of his junior minister, a Yoruba.

JONATHAN WEARS MILITARY UNIFORM TO LOOK TOUGH
Also, Ebele Jonathan, the president of Nigeria has taken the right of the Commander in Chief to wear military uniform (legitimately, the commander-in-chief has the right and power to wear any military uniform) to a new height as he practically sleeps in one these days.

Despite the right, most presidents in advanced countries seldom wear such uniforms. Other presidents of Nigeria before Jonathan did wear the uniform but on rare occasions In the case of Jonathan, hardly does two months passed by without him donning military wear.

The irony of Jonathan’s military dress however is that he was hiding inside the protection of Aso Rock and did not have the gut to observe the Independent Anniversary in the open. In the case of Jonathan, the definition of Irony is when a commander in chief is afraid to stand in the open but ready to don military gear in the comfort of Aso Rock.

MILITARY UNIFORM ON INDEPENDENCE DAY DISHONOURS FOUNDING FATHERS
While Jonathan can wear any clothe he desires, it is arguable that a military uniform is appropriate for the celebration of the nation’s independence day. Nigeria did not earn her independence through military confrontation or exploit. The founding fathers of Nigeria who won the independence clamour were not military men. They were civilian Jonathan should have reserved the military dress for the armed forces remembrance day.

FOR THE RECORDS
For the record, the Yoruba race wholeheartedly voted to support Jonathan when he needed the help of the race in 20122. For the record, Jonathan has continued to treat the race wrongly.
