I am an atheist. I have been bashing and debating about religion for many months now on Nairaland. We have created atheist camps, deist camps and theist camps to battle each other. However, we are all human beings that understand what truth and love mean.

So in the spirit of peace (for now ), I really want to know what theists have learnt from atheist on Niaraland that was different from their previous knowledge or ideas about atheists/atheism. Please, put both the positive and negative sides if you can and try to be gentle



Let me start with what I have learnt from nairaland christians/muslims

Positives;
-There are christians or muslims that will never get abusive with you no matter how much you troll or abuse them. Eg Anony and Tbaba
-There are christians or muslims that will speak out on the wrongdoings of their fellow members so as to stop a negative image of their religion eg anti-tithe christians and anti-terrorist muslims


Negatives
-There are peeps that believe that all atheists are evil no matter how much we tru to explain that we are humans like them
-There are tithe frauds that dont want their income to ever stop. They mmust receive tithes even from poor man.

- I've learnt that the world is just too random for anyone to claim to be in order. We all have our unique perspectives on life, and some beliefs are 'impossible' to shake off depending on the believer.

- the debates, esp d ones involving Anony,Ihedinobi and Tbaba have made me realise that if there's a God, he's not represented by any religion. The 'right' mind can make any religion attractive.

I wonder who's the coward when u are the one walking away.

Anyway I learnt that christians can be very stubborn even when u have all the facts and they have none.
I also learnt that they like to hiss and walk away from threads that they deep in their hearts are frightened by.

On the positive side I learnt that em...I'm coming let me think...

Well they have made me ask some questions I wouldn't otherwise ask of the Bible. Some of what they say are definitely worth thinking about. Nevertheless, I strongly disagree with their support for evolution.
