MEMBERS of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, in Kwara State, have expressed shock over the report of the arrest, conviction and imprisonment of the Kwara State IPMAN Secretary, Alhaji Muideen Mustapha, in Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking.

The Chairman, IPMAN, Ilorin Depot, Alhaji Bolaji Agbolade, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on confirmed the imprisonment of Mustapha.

He added that IPMAN executives and members were shocked at the development.

He said the incident had been reported to the national body of the association.

“It is a sad development. The information is true. We are shocked. We are just waiting for him to come back. That act has dented his image. The incident had been referred to the national body of IPMAN for deliberation and necessary action. IPMAN Constitution is against such practise,” Agboolade said.

Mustapha, who is the Managing Director of Tee Venture Petroleum Station, Ilorin, was said to have been jailed for six months by the government of Saudi Arabia for cocaine trafficking.

He was said to have started serving the jail term since August 2012 after his conviction.

Our correspondent gathered that by the calculation of the authorities in Saudi Prison, his jail term will end in December 2012.

It was further gathered that he had gone on lesser hajj on August with his wife en route Kano.

According to a source, security officials at Saudi Arabia, while checking their luggage, were said to have found substances hidden deep inside yam flour and neatly packaged in his traveling bag.

After he was said to have admitted ownership of the bag and the substance, his wife was allowed to go while he was tried and convicted.

It was further learnt that the authorities of the Saudi Arabia government communicated the development to the leadership of IPMAN in Kwara State.

I am still waiting for an Igbo twist to be added to the story..

Any crime that makes the front page without an Igbo person being involved is very unusual..

Muslims are taking the drug trafficking carriers from there counterpart, Igbo. D worst of it is there mentors is the ones arresting them. Maybe they traffic worst than d Igbos, but because attentions is not paid at their direction, they are not hyped.
And when the foolish man comes back, they'll welcome him with party. Nija una too much.

I wonder why the he-goat was not executed and rot in hell for once. Again, what is the use of hajj when all they do is is to use the name of hajj to commit all sort of bastard evils?

What has religion got to do with this news now.... If you don't have anything to say, why can't you just keep quiet and leave the space for more sensible comment.

If you dont know, it will be better for you to ask instead of causing unnecessary argument here. I dont really know what you people derive in religion, ethics bigots and arguments.

Your command of the English language is more disgraceful than your extremely stupid rant. I'm sure you went to school on credit and didn't pay the complete money that's why the Headmaster instructed your teachers to teach you enough to cover the pittance you paid.

For how long will you have to reason through your nose?
A man was arreseted for being criminal and that immidiately has got something to do with his religion.
His arrest is infact an attestation to the fact that the Holy Land is for sanity.
For how long will you be reminded that religion is to be learnt from its sources and from people.

I hope the equivalent of nigerian punishment will be given to him on return from his journey to Saudi's prison. Except that as usuall, they will buy their way out as they are doing to fuel subsidy right away.

Six months jail term? If that's d penalty for cocaine trafficking I am quite sure that a lot of jobless Nigerians will want to partake in d act. BTW I guess the quality of life in their prisons surpasses that of some Nigerians.
