Court Orders National Assembly To Halt Edo Assembly Takeover Plan by Despirado121(m): 11:55am On Aug 07, 2019
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the National Assembly to halt the plan to take over the legislative duties of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo gave the order at the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Igbere TV reports.

Edo State Government had filed the case challenging the National Assembly’s directive to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo to issue a fresh proclamation of the state’s House of Assembly in seven days.

Justice Taiwo ordered parties in the case to maintain status quo pending the determination of the case.

I like how obaseki is clipping the wings of oshiomole the hypocrite.
He didn't want godfather during his tenure but he wants to be the godfather of Edo state to continue receiving his share of loot from taxpayers money.

The best buhari should do now is not to interfere and allow justice reign

Politically, what Gov Obaseki is doing is wrong but if u are not a politician and have no politically interests, his actions are very correct. From political perspective, he was sponsored by a party, campaigned for by a party, mobilised for by a party and nominated by a party. Everywhere in the World, whether Europe or America, when a person is nominated and sponsored by a party for any position, that person MUST PATRONISE the party in one way or the other although this is not openly done the way it is in Nigeria. If he was an independent candidate, his actions would have been acceptable and perfect. But as a party man, he is totally wrong. The worst he can do is to decamp to other party but the same thing will still happen.

Obaseki try and be careful.

Oshiomhole is the godfather of edo state annd owns edo state. He is the jagaban of Edo state today.

The problems here are simple

Are Edos behind Obaseki or they are just deceiving him?

Secondly are Edos behind oshiomhole?

Not in the end they will abandon you if u defect to another party.

Edo state is an apc state...flesh and blood.

This is commendable.

Mr. Obaseki is very pragmatic and forward thinking to have gone this way.

I only wish other governors will have such balls to take a cue.

It's unfortunate people will come and talk about the court stopping the legislature from doing it's job while forgetting that the state governor is independent of the President.

How will the judiciary stops the legislature from performing their constitutional function? If it were the executive doing that now, many people would have condemned it. just my take sha.

Imagine someone that have not eaten today advising a governor to share his state's money to his party.
Obaseki has refused to share state money, come and remove him.

It was cool when Amaechi did same in Rivers and Oshomole bit the fingers that enthroned him in Edo State. Look a party is just a vehicle to get to a political office in Nigeria. To get their ticket, you paid fees (expression of interest, nomination, settlement of party chiefs, etc). Sometimes running into millions. After that you are solely responsible to the citizens thst voted for you. Imagine applying for a job through a HR agency. On assumption of office, the MD of the agency now begins to give you directives. Which would you obey, yoir employer or your sgency?
