The Salvation Army provides a flexible support service for Adults with Learning Disabilities from its centre in Kilbirnie. To enhance our service, we are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic Project Worker for our HALO initiative (Holistic Approach to Lifestyle Options) at the George Steven Centre in Craigton Road, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire.

Responsibilities will include:
Developing and mentoring service users within a project which promotes a healthy lifestyle
Giving practical support and information to service user in healthy eating and dietary advice
Providing training on health related matters and enabling opportunities for social development


The successful applicant should have an SVQ3 in Promoting Independence, or equivalent. In addition, the post holder will require to have excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with service users, carers and professional agencies.

A knowledge and experience of working with adults with a learning disability is essential for this post. The successful candidate should be able to work on his own initiative to provide support both in the centre and within the community.

All job seekers who have been signing on for 12 months are referred for bespoke support in gaining sustainable employment. The Job Life Coach will encourage, motivate and inspire job seekers!

Providing practical one-to-one and group support for WP customers, you’ll work with them to enter sustainable employment and overcome personal barriers. Qualifications are less important than good basic skills, a supportive approach, and experience of working with people facing multiple challenges in their lives. The successful applicant will be able to work under pressure and to a variety of targets.
