Stop Trying To Hijack The Igbo Identity. by Ikengawo: 1:27am On Nov 07, 2012
Igbos are not today nor will they be tomorrow, followers, monolithic thinkers, classifable, predictable and most importantly controllable. They were not yesterday, they will never be tomorrow and they must not be today.

Many Biafran supports, whether their motives intentions and ideas are pure of heart or agreeable exist in Igboland. If put to a vote I will not deny the fact that a strong case can be made for the seperation from Nigeria because the wounds of the civil war, the animousity and failure that led to the civil war. The fact that it has not weened and relented even in today's Nigeria but has instead become an excepted part of life is no secret to the Igbo man because he suffers at the forefront of all of Nigeria's failures.

When there's ethnic unrest we're the most targeted, and when there's an ill trained police retaliation we're attacked by them as well. We are blinded by Nigeria's light and buried in Nigeria's darkness.
This is because, no group of people in this nation have given more to make Nigeria exist than the igbo people.
To a fault the igbo as a collective have time and time again put national interests and national ideas before personal or tribal ones and we suffer for this sacrifice.

The Enugu coal miners massacre
The Aba woman's riots
Nnamdi Azikiwe amd the Zikist movement
Women's liberation Movement
Biafra

All national questions are asked and answered in the Igbo tongue whether it favors us or not, and this means all sides of the question. With that being said i don't want any single person, or individual, to ever think that he of flesh and bone can dicate the destiny of the Ndigbo. No man before God has every 'ruled' Ndigbo. No man before God has ever spoke for Ndigbo, and no man ever will because that's not who we are as a people. That's not what makes us great. That's not why we are who we are, were who we were and will be who we're destined to be.
Any person, party, movement or militia postrating to be the 'emperor of igbos' speaks with the forked tongue of a devil. If the Igbo can be ruled by one opinion they are not worth being ruled to begin with.

The man who set to break Nigeria, General Ojukwu was of the same blood as the man who made Nigeria, Dr Azikiwe, so i don't want to see anyone's 'igbohood' called into question because they have one opinion about an issue over another.

Agpa will never speak for Igbos
Massob will never speak for Igbos
BZM will never speak for Igbos and we should stop trying to pretend we need an emperor to guide us forward because the minute we started looking for one is the minute we stopped progressing.

The Igbo man is a god fearing brave person that works hard for his daily bread and dreams to see his children outshine him because of the standard he strives to set for them. Everything after that is opinion and individual based. Any and all amadi may speak freely whom plants two feet on the earth and walks upright. At the same time the fundamental core of our culture is all men are equality until be force of his own destiny will and courage he outshines his peers. I'm tired of having my identity hijacked by a pack of power hungry wolves dwelling in the past that want to turn our 'voice' into a victims wimper.

Biafrans are nobodies victim. They looked the entire world in the eye and took on all races, nations and creeds at the same time and died proud of what they did because they knew they were fighting for their dignity and their right to stand on this earth. We commend them because the rose to the occassion and didn't flinch at the fact that the feat before them was beyond suicidal. From their bravery we are permitted to live today. You can admire the heros of the past without pretended that the villians of the past are the villians of the day.

Biafra isn't what we need now. We need to BUILD. We need to dam our rivers, build our universities to a world standard, ensure security, invest in the sciences and medicine, put world standard hospitals in Igbo land, create avenues for business men to grow and shine, internationalize our thinking and outlook, reach the trends of the future before our peers do as we were before and by edict of what God has endowed us with, a destined to continue doing. Instead of talking about these things, our political debates has turned into barbaric AGPA postration, and Massob wanting their osu to be released from ikoli.
