Lagos traffic law has reduced okada accidents by 95% – Kayode Opeifa

The Commissioner of Transportation in Lagos State, Mr Kayode Opeifa, has claimed that since the Lagos Traffic Law came into existence with the restriction of motorcycles-Okada- on major highways, accidents involving Okada has reduced by 95 per cent.
Mr Opeifa made this known on our weekend show Sunrise, where he also revealed that a reduction of 32 per cent has been recorded in the number of people committing traffic offence.

“We have recorded 32 per cent reduction in the rate at which people commit traffic offences” he stated, adding that “we have also recorded 35 per cent decrease in the reduction of accidents involving okada and other vehicles and 95 per cent reduction in just okada accidents.”

Confirming this development, the Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Ademola Lawal, stated that “the Lagos Traffic Law is helping to get safer roads with the restriction of okadas as drivers can now drive on Lagos roads without thinking that someone can destroy one’s side mirror.”

Traveled along Lagos-Ibadan Express way today and saw this hip of motorcycles with their riders in a trailer.
Just wondering where they're heading to undecided

Eko oni baje o,
But which state won baje? With those motorcycles leaving Lagos for another state, I pray it's not mine undecided
Oyo government are for sure not going to give them space to breadth, with the way they're closing unauthorized motor parks in Ibadan.
Aregbe, you should also pass it on till they reach their final destination. undecided

cars should also be ban from the roads to eliminate accidents completely. what nonsense, there can only be accident if something is moving on the road, what a stupid story. some of the okada drivers are already terrorising their communities now.

Since there are no okadas..... It shuld reduce to 100%

But then..... How much has the rate of unemployment and armed robbery increased.

Accidents may seem to have reduced.... But how about the other indirect effects??

@ topic, I'm not sure how the figure "95 PERCENT" was arrived at: Is it based on monthly, quarterly, biannual or annual figures? Fine, the rate of accidents MAY have actually reduced, but the way government officials bandy these figures about makes me wanna puke. It would have been comical if it wasn't so downright annoying.

It's the same way they'll tell you that they are doing "massive" road rehabilitation, when all you'll see on site are a couple of equipment lying round.

What a country.

Politicians and Magicians have one thing I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ common, they take your attention off the reality!!

ACN is a grand master in trickery and jingoism!!

Anytime the party has an agenda, constant statistics kept pouring out!!

But what's the percentage of
A) bad roads
B) unemployed youths
C) crushed okadas etc

Ȋ̝̊̅ support the limiting of the operation of the okadas to trunk C roads but ACN sabi do wayo sha!!

Intellectual wayo!!

This integration plan of ACN looks more of a political secession... Gravitate away from the centre!!

At least, its better than the charade of PDP trying to take credit for solving problems they created(boko haram + fuel subsidy)..

Statistics is been thoroughly abused,They should present us with all the breakdown of accidents, traffic infringement, robbery and others in Lagos for some years, and allow us do our analysis.not quoting percentage.
