I just don’t get it.

Every post on NL seems to generate strangers fighting against each other over very silly comments.

Even on a forum, we lack tolerance as a nation. This is a free world. If you don’t agree with someone, ignore their comments and move to the next one.

Please let us respect each other and ourselves.

odum desmond: My problem with ur likes is that u cry more than the bereaved, has any person who gives tithes and offering ever come to u to complain about ur perceived exploitation? Surely those of us who "s*tupidly" give tithes and offering and also "st*upidly" get blessed in giving don't complain at all, infact I ve emptied my pocket several times for God and ve never failed to get double fold blessings in return, there is a mystery many pple re not aware of, it works for us and we can't just stop giving because ur type re crying out. My papa Bishop Oyedepo started out morethan 30 years back from a thatched roof church in a remote village, he was a graduate with prospects in a Nigeria of that time when employers would come to plead with u on the day of ur graduation to work for them, with huge tempting offers of salary, accommodation and even car; but he chose God, he chose to become a preacher than work , he was rejected by his dominantly Muslim family, he was mocked at, his parents felt they had lost a son, but he held on to what he believed in. Today, after all his suffering, he has in turn become raised by God and people are talkin, where were u wen he was goin thru all these for God, life teaches that there is no limit to which a man can get if he remains dedicated, committed and upright, he chose these and he is not only blessed but has become a blessing to thousands employed in several businesses he has. He doesn't ve to earn from church offering or tithe, he also has interest in businesses and has access to the best brains to work for him. Let me even ask, a church that has more than a million memeber world wide, shud owing private jet be too much? Have u read about Kenneth Copeland, his church has as at 3 years back given away about 25 jets as gifts to other ministries world wide. Is jet too big for God's work? Would we rather have a man who would teach decency, love, morals, fear of God, etc to fly on private jet just to meet preaching schedules world wide than give same private jet a Hollywood porn star/ artiste who only needs it to fly all over the world to promote nudity and immorality? The place we call Cannan land at Ota before Oyedepo came was a thick forest, the church has turned it to the best city in Nigeria, nobody is commending him and the church, Adeboye lived at Redeemed camp ground alone when it was a jungle with only him and his wife, surrounded by bush, no electricity, pipe borne water etc their kids refused living, with them there, today it has become a city like none in Nigeria in terms of organisation and facilities, a fit no Govt with billions of oil money in Nigeria has accomplished , yet for them to fly on small 10 passenger private jet is causing uproar in Nigeria. God is watching us all. I believe that a man who has paid so much that many other re unwilling to pay should enjoy what others are not entitled to, all pastors can't be on same level.

@others,please lets stop this act of insulting pastors and people who choose to believe in God,, inasmuch as the tithers are not complaining to you, then please drop it,tithing is an individual's personal business with God, and am sure if the tither had nothing to show for it,he/she wouldn't continue,, so pls stop all these unnecessary insults and lets have fun

@By Sonala Olumhense,May God bless you for your write-up. what really amaze me in the bible is that Jesus said that the same word of God which will be use to save His people will also be used to deceive a lot of people and I really feel it is coming to pass in Nigeria. JUST A PITY....

odum desmond: LWKMD oh. My bible makes me understand that things of God looks stupid to the carnal mind, it takes a spiritual mind to decipher that too. So I am not amazed that u call me a goat, yes I am a goat(sorry I prefer to be called sheep, cos even goats are wiser than sheep). So even Christ himself when he was expousing strange doctrines of the Kingdom of God, doing miracles and so many others, they said he was demonised and possessed by Belzubeb(sorry I can't get the real spelling) who is the leader of all demons. So the mystery of God's word is not for ordinary people to understand, its only fooools like me that will sheepishly follow the rules and get stu*pi*dly blessed. Does it not sound strange that the biblical principle of blessing is in giving, whereas book knowledge or common wisdom says that the best it is in the accumulation of wealth by savings that u get wealthy?

Silence is the best answer to a f.o.o.l. Don't u understand? Why waisting your energy?

lord castro: if a criminal can have fleet of cars n jets allover the world just to make easier his criminal antecedents, what is wrong if a ministry propagating the gospel acquire a jet to make the word reach to the outermost part of the earth faster to fufill the prophecy so that the coming of the son of man be sooner than expected.

Outermost part?! You silly sheep. Where will the jet land if not an airport?

If there's an airport, there are airlines servicing that route. So tell me, why can this Man of God not fly on a commercial airline?

I forgot, your papas need to sequester themselves away from their worshippers grin

Having posted this entry in another thread addressing the same issue i wish to share it again:
Perhaps sheep can communicate with each
other. Perhaps one sheep might say to the
other:
Those men are killers, one day they would take us to the slaughter and dine on our carcass.
In disbelief the other sheep would say:
Impossible, do you know how much he has
done for us? Do you know that in the last year
he has taken me from pasture to pasture?
Do you know that when the wolf came around he fought it off with his rod? You might choose
to escape but for me, na here I go die.
That for me is the case of the modern day
Christian with his/her MOG.

This guy is taking this too far.

odum desmond: My problem with ur likes is that u cry more than the bereaved, has any person who gives tithes and offering ever come to u to complain about ur perceived exploitation? Surely those of us who "s*tupidly" give tithes and offering and also "st*upidly" get blessed in giving don't complain at all, infact I ve emptied my pocket several times for God and ve never failed to get double fold blessings in return, there is a mystery many pple re not aware of, it works for us and we can't just stop giving because ur type re crying out.

There is a natural law of giving and receiving. The more you give, the more you receive. If you do good, you get good in return. If you do bad, you get same.It is not until one gives in churches that one gets blessed. Your being blessed was not necessarily because you gave in church but because you gave. Moreover, giving in church is not the only way to give to God. When you help people, you are also giving to God. If you want to confirm the natural law of giving, do the same thing you have done in the church outside the church and check if you will be blessed or not. Note that, I am not against giving in church but just want you to know that giving is giving. One gets blessed in folds irrespective of where the giving was done.I know a lot of Philantrophists that do not even know the way to the church and they get blessed in folds through giving.

odum desmond: My papa Bishop Oyedepo started out more than 30 years back from a thatched roof church in a remote village

As a village boy, where did you expect him to start from? From a mansion? Or from a storey building undecided undecided. At that time, most houses were made up of muds and thatched roof (not even zinc). So, that is where he should start from cos that was what most houses were made up of in the village at that time. Even now, there are still a lot of houses with the same characteristics in the North. The problem with folks like you is that, just like the guy you accused of crying more than the bereaved, you talk more than the accused. Next!

odum desmond: he was a graduate with prospects in a Nigeria of that time when employers would come to plead with u on the day of ur graduation to work for them, with huge tempting offers of salary, accommodation and even car; but he chose God, he chose to become a preacher than work
Well it was a good thing that he chosed God but the fact that he chosed God does not necessarily imply that he has not deviated from what he is supposed to be doing while focusing more on other vanities.

odum desmond: he was rejected by his dominantly Muslim family, he was mocked at, his parents felt they had lost a son, but he held on to what he believed in. Today, after all his suffering, he has in turn become raised by God and people are talkin
This case is not a unique one. He is not the first and will not be the last to be rejected by families simply because he chosed something that was different from what they wanted. Even the early Actors and Actresses that were always following dance and drama troupes all around faced more from their families. In some cases, their families even threatened to disown them. Right now, their stubborn moves paid off as Entertainment is one of the biggest things at the moment. So, your point is void wrt Oyedepo. Next! .

odum desmond: Let me even ask, a church that has more than a million memeber world wide, shud owing private jet be too much?

No, owing a Private jet is not too much but only 4 Private jets that requires huge amount of money to maintain seems senseless.
odum desmond: Have u read about Kenneth Copeland, his church has as at 3 years back given away about 25 jets as gifts to other ministries world wide.
Why didn't they keep the 25 Jets to themselves? How many private jets do they use on their own? Go find out and come back. Like you said, "they distributed to other Ministries". Why did they decide to do a distribution? Ans: Cos keeping 25+ jets is unreasonable.

odum desmond: Would we rather have a man who would teach decency, love, morals, fear of God, etc to fly on private jet just to meet preaching schedules world wide

This one got me reeling with laughter. "To meet preaching schedules world wide". Who is he preaching to? Is it the same British that brought Christianity to us or the Americans and what will he be preaching about? That Jesus christ died for our sins and they should repent?undecided Or are they flying to Somalia and other remote places for the gospel? If yes, give accounts of what the travel schedule has been like since the acquisition of the jets. Without seeing it, I can bet that the most dominant on the schedule will be America and Europe. Please, do not mistake a Jamboree travelling for preaching of God's work.

odum desmond: The place we call Cannan land at Ota before Oyedepo came was a thick forest, the church has turned it to the best city in Nigeria, nobody is commending him and the church

Commend him for what? For expanding his church? I was a regular member of Faith Terbanacle even when it was still at Raji Oba in Alimosho before moving to Ota. The closest place to Lagos is Ogun state and Ibadan. Lagos state has limited land for a big building hence the choice of Ota as the next point. Or, was such land available in Lagos and he decided to move to Ota instead? My friend think! Let us not argue with sentiments. You said he developed it, NO, he shouldn't have developed where his church is, he should have left it as a bush and worship there like that.If I may ask, the development is for whose benefit? Is it not for that of the church?
,

odum desmond: yet for them to fly on small 10 passenger private jet is causing uproar in Nigeria. God is watching us all. I believe that a man who has paid so much that many other re unwilling to pay should enjoy what others are not entitled to, all pastors can't be on same level.
The church should not forget the word "MODESTY". A Private jet even under the guise of using it to preach the gospel is not that much of a bad idea but 4 Private jets is too much.

People like Desmund will continue to be slaves of men (Rom 6:16), thinking that they are serving God. How can anyone justify this private jet craze by the so-called 'men of God'. These pastors are deceiving their flock that there is a place in heaven for them to enjoy after the 'rapture' while they are busy amassing wealth on earth, cruising the world in yatches and private jets. Meanwhile, they have not turned their nearest neighbor to become a true christian. Yet, they pretend to travel to the end of the earth to make disciples. Jesus knew that they would appear so he warned about them before returning to heaven (Mt 24:24,25; See also Acts 20:29,30). They are the Scribes and Pharisees of today whom Jesus lambasted at Mt 23 for seating themselves in the seat of Moses, the ones he called offspring of vipers for misleading people. Bible consistently encourage Christians to be like Jesus who trekked around, built no house and had just one costly dress (1Tim 6:6-10). These pastors can deceive those they can, not me

odum desmond: My problem with ur likes is that u cry more than the bereaved, has any person who gives tithes and offering ever come to u to complain about ur perceived exploitation? Would we rather have a man who would teach decency, love, morals, fear of God, etc to fly on private jet just to meet preaching schedules world wide than give same private jet a Hollywood indecency star/ artiste who only needs it to fly all over the world to promote Unclothedness and immorality? Why are we always so swift to condemn ministers of God...I can't stop wondering.
Some NLanders take joy in condemning all the GOs in Nigeria.
It seems we have a biased opinion about who a Pastor is. We believe if you are a Pastor then u must be poor. This may sound good but isn't right.
Jesus in his own time wasn't poor. He never begged for what to eat or drink.
The bible says in 2 Cor 8:9 that Jesus was rich...and for our sake, he became poor on the cross that we might be rich. So its the will of God that his children should be wealthy.
We seem to isolate the 'JET' thing to Nigeria but many ministers all over the world own a jet. The issue isn't whether they should get one or not but the issue should be the purpose of the jet. Are they using it for personal pleasure or to further the gospel of christ? If the latter is the case, then they are justified. Jesus rode a donkey in his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Donkeys then were pretty royal and expensive but Jesus used it for a purpose. So it no longer was a luxury.
I think its high time we stopped playing God condemning many men of God cos its like we hate 'rich' pastors as if God frowns at wealth. Its the will of God that you and I are wealthy provided we achieve wealth through honest means.
Many of these men of God employ many, feed many, create shelter and give many more a means of livelihood. Can u imagine the number of jobs created in Canaan land or Redemption camp for example. This is sth our govt fail to do.
...And maybe we need to check what exploitation means cos a lot of us are misusing the word. God commands tithes and offerings and christians all over thw world obey and give it. So it is in no way a means of exploitation that pple give their offering.
Of course, I expect many here to call me all sort of names for saying this, I anticipated that before going ahead to write this. But that wudnt change me a bit. Just brood over these. Even if I'm wrong, why can't we live God to fight for Himself instead pretending to help him.
