First of all, I don't know if this topic is in the right section, if it's not apologies to those affected.
So I recently registered as a user to this site. I've been a passer by for a while now. I'm addicted to the site and I love the fact that it's quite informative and entertaining.
My issue though is why do other fellow Nairalanders resort to bullying other people by insulting them? I have come to a painful realization that you need to have a thick skin to post anything on this site, so that people's rude and insulting comments doesn't affect you. I've no troubles with this, but does it have to be this way?

That's a known trend on this forum...they don't correct u or offer any constructive advice, but display anathema when u stick to ur idea and belief.
U'd be shocked that the person insulting u for making contribution has nothing to contribute more than the insult he/she is ready to give u for making ur own contribution to a particular topic.

We all can't get along cos our opinion on several issues differs,and so many people don't knw how to handle this difference in opinion. .


The goodnews is that nairaland is the e-version of the real nigeria/nigerians you see out there, so if if I can live in nigeria and with nigerians against all odds, why can't i live on nairaland?

Sis, say what u wanna and don't be cowed by their bullying...don't let it get to u...simple. No matter how bitter ur post may look or taste, bring it out so long that's the truth and how u feel about a particular issue or topic.

I would be the first to admit that I am one of those who are guilty of this, at least starting the trend. I was notorious for insulting people back in the day. All you had to do was offend me and I went off like a rocket - non stop.

But I have come to realize that it's childish. It's like they say:
"arguing online is like the special olympics. It doesn't matter who wins, you're both still r3tarded"

Ok so maybe that wasn't the nicest quote but you get my point I am sure. .

I am just making it my mission to avoid it and ppl who who engage in it. Life is too short and too sweet.

That's one thing nairaland thought me,(developing hard skin to insults and learning hw to insult ) cos i hardly get insulted in real life. Before, even in real life, i hate insults and i do anything to avoid it. I wasn't brought up that way.

mrschima is the biggest obstacle to peace on this site

Its just bad manners and illiteracy, a point can be made without resorting to insults. Also people must not always tow the same line of thought as the proponent.

The main reason why I decided to abandon a topic in the sports section that I started called Tottehham Hotspur Football Club Inc was because of the level of insults & abuse I received there mostly from arsenal fans which included Supermod Mukina2 ex Supermod Debosky & a. Mod called v3

Its a trend that won't stop for a long time here...
The more you try to be nice,the more they push you the other way...and since,one can only take so much,it becomes a case of joining them when you can't beat 'em.
