1
General Adulsalami Abubakar (rtd) - Military Head of State June 1998 - May 1999
Brought in after the sudden mysterious death of Abacha, many believe that he was an agent of Babangida (aka IBB) who they suspect engineered the poisoning of Abacha. He returned Nigeria to civilian rule after elections. His government which was in effect IBB's second coming by proxy, lasted approx 10months and was a very corrupt and drafted the current flawed constitution which gives governors and presidents immunity from prosecution and allows for adoption of Sharia law. Several billions were looted and Obasanjo was selected to become the leader after fraudulent and rigged elections.

2
Ernest Shonekan - Civilian Head of State for only 3months Aug 1993 - Nov 1993
He was a civilian hurriedly installed as Interim President by Babangida after he was chased out of the presidency when Nigerians started rioting and became ungovernable in the aftermath of his annulment of the 12th June 1993 elections. His government lasted less than 3months before General Sani Abacha took over in November 1993.

3
General Ibrahim B. Babangida (rtd) - aka IBB, Military Head of State Aug 1985 - Aug 1993.
Overthrew Buhari in a palace coup, that many believe was sponsored by western nation countries and M.K.O. Abiola,. It is believed that his coup was motivated by the fact that he learnt that Buhari may have planned his retirement after it came to light that he was involved in drug smuggling. It is also believed that he was funded by MKO Abiola and Western Nations who did not like Buhari's patriotic stance and his refusal of IMF Loans.

IBB devalued the Naira by a wreckessly massive 2,300% rendering the Nigerian currency worthless and plunging the Nigerian masses into hardship and poverty that is still being suffered today.

He was chased out of the presidency when Nigerians started roiting and became ungovernable in the aftermath of his annulment of the 12th June 1993 elections.

Estimated Looted several billion of dollars (trillions of Naira)

It is widely believed that he was behind the poisoning of Sani Abacha in June 1998 and the installation of first his cousin, Abdusalami Abuabakar as transitional leader and the selection of Obasanjo lead Nigeria after fruadulent and rigged elections.

It is also believed that he consipired with Obasanjo back in 1976 in the covert coup that assassinated Muritala Mohammed; Col Dimka was presented as the coup planner and Obasanjo told Nigeria that he foiled the coup attempt thus he and Obj escaping suspicion of involvement in plot that assassinated Muritala Mohammed.
He attempted to run for the presidency in 2007 and 2011 but pulled out of the race at preliminary stages.

4
General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) - aka Obj, Military Head of State 13th February 1976 - 1st October 1979 also Civilian President May 1999 to May 2007
Came to power after an apparent abortive coup that resulted in the assassination of the then Military ruler Muritala Mohammed, to whom Obasanjo was the deputy, however many suspect he insitigated a palace coup, and used the abortive coup story as a smoke screen.
Obasanjo executed 32 military Officers who he claims were involved in the coup attempt. Obasanjo escaped suspicion of involvement in the coup by saying he was hiding in a friend's residence during the "abortive" coup and that it was sponsored by ex-ruler Y. Gowon.

As a civilian Head of State 1999 -2007, he presided over the most corrupt and irresponsible adminstrations in the countries history.

He mismanaged, looted and closed Nigeria Airways.

Gave away Nigeria's Oil-rich land - Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon.

Ordered whole scale killing of entire villages in Niger Delta and in Benue State.

Further impoverished Nigerian masses by devaluing Naira by 500% accepting IMF loans and dictates at a time when oil revenue were very high.

The collapse of power supply to entire nation

The massive hiking of fuel prices by 500% despite record levels of Oil export revenue.

He kept talking about fighting corruption, but is regarded by some, as the biggest looter in Africa's history with estimates of upto $200billion unaccounted for. Even the $16 billion he announce he had budgeted to improve power can not been accounted for. He appointed himself Oil Minister and had full control of the country's earnings from Oil exports and he has blocked all attempts to audit the accounts of his adminstration.

Obasanjo was imprisoned by General Sani Abacha for 3 years until Abacha's sudden death in June 1998.

5
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan - current civiian head of state 2010 - present
The Current President of Nigeria since 2010
No notable signs of any infrastructural improvment on Federal level
No efforts apparent to fight corruption
There is a lot of insecurity of life and property with terrorist organisation Boko Haram exploding many bombs and killing many innocents.
Was preceded by the late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua, who died in office after less than 3 years in office and Jonathan was declared winner of recent presidential elections which were largely discredited by large scale rigging and for not being free and fair. The party of runner-up in elections Gen. Buhari have taken the matter to elections tribunal.
Jonathan is believed to be godfathered by Obasanjo, and hand-picked for vice-president for the widely rigged and discredited 2007 elections that Yar'adua was declared winner for.

6
Gen. Yakubu Gowon Military Head of State July 1966 - July 1975

Came to power when he overthrew General Jonson Aguiyi- Ironsi, in a tribalistically motivated coup

Presided when 30,000 Igbo civilians were massacred in the North as the Army stood by or joined in,which precipitated the Civil War.
Gowon was overthrown by Muritala Mohammed in a bloodless coup whilst attending Organisation of African Unity Summit.

7
Shehu Shagari Civilian Head of State October 1979 - Dec 1983
Presided over a very corrupt and incompetent government, but started some major infrstructural projects including the Ajaokuta steel plant and moving the federal capital from Lagos to Abuja. He opened the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Oct 1980. Shagari was overthrown by a military coup in 31st Dec 1983, Gen. Muhhammadu Buhari was selected by Military to be Head of State after the coup.

8
General Muhammadu Buhari Military Head of State December 1983 - August 1985

Buhari' government was genuinely anti-corruption, which imprisoned several hundred corrupt politicians officals and business men and made serious efforts to recover looted money, to the extent of trying to kidnap the ex- Transport Minister from the UK.
Rejected conditions of IMF Loan which asked him to devalue the Naira and instead entered into Barter trade agreement with 4 countries to make essential capital expenditure without the need for cash.

Buhari reduced inflation from 39% to 3%

He paid off Nigeria's foreign debt.

Buhari was overthrown by Babangida whose 1st action was to accept IMF terms, devalue the naira until it was effectivly worthless and releasing all the corrupt politicians that Buhari had imprisoned.

You seem to write Buhari as flawless but the information I have is that his human rights record was nothing to write home about. He did honestly fight corruption though.

It was only looters and drugs dealers that complained about Buhari's human rights record.

Do you think Buhari's human rights was worst than the Human rights of the PDP governments of recent times?

Where is the human rights of PDP rigging every election starting from 1999 and denying Nigerians their democratic mandate?

Where is the human rights of a impoverishing the masses to the extent that life expectancy approx. 35yrs old compared to about 55yrs old during Buhari era?

OP that was a horrible write up. How was GEJ's election discredited when it's also called the best election nigeria has had in 12 years by all observes. Unless you think Buhari actually won lol

So when American observers tells you flawed and widely rigged elections that were never free and fair tells you elections were the best ever elections? It means that the elections were not flawed?

I am convinced that Buhari truly won the elections.
