At independence in 1960, this Supreme Court building was knocked down and a new "modern" Supreme Court building was built at Igbosere Road. Wole Soyinka hated the new cement building and felt that this wooden building suited the tropics better. He also hated the water fountain that was built at Tinubu because he felt that it had no effect on the lives of the masses who lived in the area.

Independence Fountain at Tinubu Square.

The fountain was demolished circa 2006 and a new one built as part of the urban renewal project (Central Business District) of the Bola Tinubu administration.

I'm tired. I've got tons more pics to post, but not enough time to post them. I've not even finished with the thread "Nigeria: the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly". I might have to come here week after week to post pics.

Please check out the thread https://www.nairaland.com/1062509/nigeria-good-bad-beautiful-ugly

By the way, can we see pics of Nairobi's "famous" Mathare Neighbourhood?

Ileke-IdI:

I didn't even see this reply.
Me? A bigot? Create a thread for that, but right now let's focus on the degraded state of Nigeria.
The bolded is a question you alone can answer. I didnt put to you that you're one. And why would I create a tread for that. Sound silly to me.
But like you rigtly said, lets focus on the degraded state of Nigeria; and not the degraded state of Non-Ekiti parts of Nigeria. Kappish?

Ileke-IdI:

Unless you're classifying Nigeria as the village, then I indeed will need to offer the apology to Nairobi.

Yea, Kenya has not met your match in 419, yahoo-yahoo, visa scam and whatnot.
Ileke Idi how are wish u should relocate to kenya to stay in nice city and leave us along.
Re: What A Shame: Nairobi 1960s Looks Better Than Nigeria 2012 by Arsenate(m): 11:29am On Dec 06, 2012
From previous posts, I learnt she (Ileke) schools in America. What a total waste of money. Selectively Comparing the best parts of Nairobi (the capital of a country) and the worst parts of many cities in Nigeria. An utterly bias comparison. All for what, to discredit your own.
Clearly from the pix posted by Rossike, Abuja is by miles more beautiful than all the pix of Nairobi u posted. U have a problem: self-hate.

In an inspiring turn of events, Mathare United FC won the Kenyan double in 1998 and the President's cup in 2000.

As it is in Kenya, so it is in Nigeria. We have the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.
