Before embarking on the business of making money through your blogsite seek advice from few experienced bloggers. Make sure your concentration is not on money but the richness of your blogsite through the content. It must be valuable (catch the fancies of the visitors), relevant (must meet their various needs) and entertaining. These three factors should form the basis of your blog which later on can attract the vision of turning your blogsite into money-making ventures. Rich, great contents will definitely give room for a steady flow of readers and search engine traffic that advertisers will also value. The contents can be in the form of articles, photos, videos or podcast, all these combined to form a solid foundation for a beginner in the business of money-spinning blogsite. You can attract more traffic by connecting your other signed-in social media such as; twitter, facebook, google+ and stumble. Once your foundation is solid enough, you can start making your cool money.

A blog that does not have a solid basis of great content is unlikely to stand the test of time as the level of your readership will gradually fall, hence you see yourself dropping out of business. A little drop of water makes the mighty ocean is what they say. When you start, you need to establish some droplets of water around, which you believe in the long run, will make the mighty ocean you have been dreaming of. Take for example, if part of your blog section is devoted to “your travel experiences” try to pep it up so that readers who share your passion will always find it worthwhile to visit from time to time. It could be the people you met, photos you took, animals you saw, funny things that happened to you. Preferably, always look for stories that will put your readers first, see how you can be of help to their many challenges. At best, be a problem-solver!

If your blog is in different sections, support these sections with “relevant sites” that will solve their problems or challenges. This type of arrangement helps a lot in building traffic. Contextual Ads and Google Adsense are two of the best way of making money on your blog. Of course, Contextual Ads are small text adverts that are automatically generated on your blog based on positions you’ve set it up in advance through Google Adsense. Contextual Ads however fair better with a blog that has a reasonable daily traffic, say like 500 visitors per day. Contextual Ads work fine and at its best on sites where there is a large proportion of search engine traffic and not so well on sites that rely more on social media or direct traffic. Be assured that, contextual ads work best inside the post rather than in the sidebar – this is because the advert can be more relevant to the content being read as it will pick up on more specific keywords. The best placement is higher up rather than lower and to the left rather than the right. To attract patronage, your contextual ads must have a unique blend of placement, fonts colour etc. You can build your profile online as a writer be it on any topics you have developed. So many sites are looking for potential writers and you can make cool money through this. If writing is your passion, then one can move on to more financially viable paid writing assignment.

How Does Google Make Money?

• Advertising: On the surface, a search engine, no matter its popularity, doesn’t seem like the most profitable of ventures. You type in your query, hit enter and then find your results without payment. The often overlooked money making machine for google is advertising which allows google to make its profits off its sites and other sites that participate in Google’s advertising schemes.
• Sponsored Links: You may not notice it, but when you perform a search in Google, sponsored links appear on the right side of the screen. These are advertisers that make a business agreement with google in order to get their ads displayed alongside the results of the most appropriate searches. That way, people searching for used cars may find people selling cars with the sponsored links.
• Search Results: In contrast to other search engines, the sponsored links are never displayed with the other results that your search turns up. Certain search engines take money from websites so that when those websites come up in search results, they appear higher up on the results than other non-paying websites. Google refuses to do this and instead puts the ads alongside the rest of the results, clearly setting them aside as “sponsored links.”
• AdWords: Google uses an Adwords system that allows a potential advertiser to specify the search terms she would like to specify as the words that, when searched, will display her ads. A flower shop in Chicago, for example, could have a keyword that involves the city in which it does business and type of business, such as “Chicago Florist.”
• AdSense: Because of the immense popularity of Google, plenty of customers that want to advertise on the grand frontier that is the Internet. When people pay for these advertisements that is where Google makes the lion’s share of its money. Website owners can also sign up for Google’s AdSense program, which includes ads on the website that are contextually relevant. When visitors click on them, all parties make money.
• A Win-Win-Win Situation: Although the idea of making money off of a search engine can be difficult to understand, it all lies in advertising, which allows everyone to benefit. Those who advertise get increased business patronage, and Google gets the money from their payments. Consumers who search for certain products may find it easier to find what they are looking for by using the sponsored links than to pore through all of the results, so it is a win-win-win situation.
7 Must-Haves When Starting Your Site
The joy of putting your site out there for the whole world to see is one, the other is how to draw a reasonable number of visitors to your new site and that is what we are going to consider below;

About Page: Make an introductory page where you explain about your project and yourself.

Contact Page: Make a page where people can get in touch with you.

Create a Sitemap: Your sitemap lists all the posts and pages that are accessible for search engines to crawl and index. Basically having a sitemap helps Google and other search engines send your traffic. I usually use Google XML Sitemaps plugin to create a sitemap.

Install Google Analytics: Google Analytics is a useful tool to track and analyse your visitors. It provides you data to see where they find your content and how they like it.

Add the URL to Google Webmaster Tools: Webmaster Tools is useful to track the progress of your site in search engines and also for Google to provide you with feedback on what you can improve. One of the first things I do there is to verify my URL and submit the sitemap.

Create Social Media Profiles: Create profiles on Twitter, Facebook and/or any other social media platform where your target audience is. Make sure to link back to your URL from the profiles and vice versa.
Write Your First Post: Then write the second one. Then the third one. The content is everything so you must start building lots of content that attracts visitors. Always have it at the back of your minds that your first post might be negatively received and attacked, don’t despair keep posting you will hit it big if you do not relent.
