If you really wanna root, Google "how to root galaxy 9300". Don't forget Rooting voids your warranty.

S3 has a valid warranty. Rooting the device voids it.

it takes time to charge and only discharges when i use it(that is when plugged in)

Seems like u using an outdated recovery. Read change ur recovery to philz recovery, download the most recent one, cos from experience 4.4 needs a special recovery to be installed and philz took care of it in the latest version

did that n still getting the same status 7 error.i even edited the update_script as directed on one site. but still got installation aborted.

don't have idea but I think it's ur ntwrk cos mine is working perfectly and I also use MTN...have u gotten official jellybean 4.3 update on ur device?

It's the network. The last one I installed for a sibling, it failed all through the day. It eventually connected later in the night.

I advice you leave it till night when the connection will be much better.

Most times it does mean so... But if you just installed it from Play Store, No you are not!

Go into Application manager in Settings and clear the apps cache and data, set your phone to 3G and try again. Sometimes setups doesn't work on WiFi but mobile data alone (From experience)

Unless you have jazz, ur phone cannot be running a custom kernel if it is not rooted.

Is there any trick I can use to actually check if it's rooted? Touchwiz, authors still works tho and I can multi task, when I went to check for updates, keep telling me your device has already been modified...still running 4.1.2 and I want the 4.3 so badly

the only way you'll get to know which ROMs is beat for your device is if you experiment... just enter XDA and go to the s3 section and start experimenting on the ROMs there...read user reviews of the Roma first before you flash.... eventually you'll get the ideal ROM that suits your taste... You can start from Alliance ROM (the ROM is based on stock Samsung ROM...flashed it on my device once...seemed smooth..but twas rather ugly.. as Samsung stock ROMs are...so I flashed another) and Avatar ROM an AOSP based ROM...stock Google...with some modifications... really nice)...

and many other ROMs on XDA... enjoy
