i think chrismas wud b pagan if on 25th u see people bowing down to idols or maybe santa or sayin somtin like "sun god we hail thee'.but u dont find this anywhere.d central message is d birth of Jesus. secondly d fact dat my village people celebrate thier festival on a particular date does not make it enough reason not to celebrate any christian festival.dey dont have a right to monopolize that day.Nobody argues that Jesus was not born on christmas day but wat is wrong with celebrating d birth of someone especially someone great. my only concern wish is dat many who celebrate christmas may actually know Jesus for themselves

Reyginus:
1. The thing is, once in the atmosphere of any christain festival, it doesn't matter the strategies we employ to fulfil it. As long as they don't contradict the nature of God. The relationship is living the moment in love. How does it contradict what God wants for us?
2. Christ was not born on the 25th. And since we would never know, we can mark out any day to celebrate it. Just like the sabbath is not compulsorily a sunday.
3. Following this logic, one can further ask: why didnt the ladies of their time wear trousers to church? why didnt jesus apostles distribute articles like the watchtower, awake etc? why didn't they use microphone in the time?
That they didn't celebrate it, doesn't make it a pagan tradition. The only thing that can make the celebration pagan, is to indulge pagan rites in the course of it. And I still ask:
what does it mean to be pagan?
every single aspect of christmas celebration was adopted from paganism.the sharing of gifts part, the santa claus part, the closing of shops and resting at home part, the festivities....every single part was adopted from pagan worship.to tell you how crazy the ceremony used to be,the romans banned the celebration of saturnallia and baccanalia in 168BC.towards the early 1st century, mithraism was at its peak and his birthday which was dec 25,became converted to the birthday of jesus

Is that what makes it pagan?
