Government Gross Neglect For The Agriculture Is A Time Bomb. by Technocracy: 1:20pm On Dec 26, 2012
Demographic facts has it that 70percent of Nigerians are predominantely engaged in agriculture, but it is a thing of common sense for governments to engage on their peoples predominant occupation,by building capacity, manpower, funding and massive micro-credits boost their local and sub local economies;agricultural land is not Nigerias problem as statistics has it that less than 40 percent of of the arable land is in use,yet we find governors whose security votes doubles their budgets for agriculture, as well as some buying expensive private jets what does this lead us to hunger, starvation, low gdp, unemployment. Considering our country with the highest unemployment rate in Africa, with an inflation averaging 12 percent . Massive investment in agriculture will boost food production, creat massive employments especially through the agricultural value chains and entrepreneurship trends through the young people owning profitable farms armed with skills and know how, Its time the Nigerian people take proactive steps to adress this ugly trend.
