I know you sometimes wish for a situation where all is rosy in the work-front. A situation where all your colleagues like and appreciate you and your efforts, ignore your shortcomings, mistakes, failures and foibles. A situation where your boss is your best pal who pats you at the back all the time in spite of your recent ground- breaking mistakes, the recent deal you lost, the numerous errors on the last presentation your team made to the board of directors and the numerous effort-filled but result-barren projects you have handled and the list goes on....

However, you must know that the work-front is a war zone full of colleagues who see you as a threat to their very existence in the firm but pretend to empathise with you when you go through a heart-rendering shredding session with your boss while secretly happy that you are gradually exhausting the positive emotional deposits you had with your boss. At work you will also encounter different type of bosses. Some are aggressive, abusive, insecure and will scare the living hell at of you.
The reality is that we have to grapple with these challenges on a daily basis and also face the reality that we may not have any real friends amongst our colleagues and that our boss is never our friend but simply our boss.Excerpts from my book-Its Okay to have a bad Boss

From what i have notice in the working environment is that its not about how well you do what you do but sometimes by the relationship you create. If you are working under a boss that don't see anything good in what you do, it will be difficult for you to be motivated or enjoy what you do because you will always be feeling like you are under pressure. Although its still possible to work under a bad boss and be successful and happy but in that case you will learn not to take into account the wrongs or the pressure he is putting you, instead try and see it from the positive side.
