Clemens Westerhof says only Stephen Keshi has what it takes to handle the Super Eagles, and even at that,Keshi still needs someone like him(Westerhof) to succeed on the job.According to him,Siasia, Amokachi, and Oliseh are baby coaches grin. Read that in today's tribune. And, i think the man is right! But Siasia is more than a 'baby' coach sha.

@ poster,

How experienced was westerhof when he became nigeria's coach? how old was he?
I think he just counting on one of our problems to get himself noticed ( white skin supremacy)
For his information:
1. Keshi qualified a below average team for the world cup
2. Siasia took an average Nigerian team to the finals of the U-23 world cup( this is the stage before the world cup)

I think Samson Siasia should be allowed to become Nigeria's gaffer.
He's got what it takes to manage and assemble a pool of local talents.
Although, Nigerian football's major problem is the administration . . . .
I cannot understand why ex-Military men are running football affairs in Nigeria. . . .Its dis-gus-ting.

What i meant is that i agree with Westerhof about Amokachi and Oliseh being 'baby' coaches grin (i love the expression). As for Siasia and Keshi,top-notch coaches. What i hear now though is that the NFA are rejecting Keshi.God knows why. And,you can't blame Westerhof for contributing, afterall he did win the gold with Nigeria in Afcon '94.
@chacal
the fault is definitely with the NFA.I think Siasia and Keshi combined will be purrfect.

Westerhof is right, Amokachi and Siasia are incapable of handling the Super Eagles.

The big boss is the man for the job.

Keshi will ruin the eagles. Appointing him will just be an exact replica of Newcastle appointing Kevin keegan out of emotion. Keegan can't match the exotic flair that wenger, ferguson, ericksson and beintez have. he was a gud coach b4 the foreign influx of players into the EPl.

Amokachi knows nothing about coaching, he should start with a junior team first. if he really wants to coach. i think in his case its just an Ego thing.

Siasia is the best of all the local options we have. Thats because he has tasted coaching in a world class tournament.

Personally i think we should get a better foreign coach. Berti vogts ruined scottish football only NFA fools would hire someone like that. Louis Van Gaal is sitting there go beg someone like him to coach us. If he dnt want, and we have to stick with a local coach. The Siasia is the best option and his job is to source for local talent, just like westerhof did.

Nightrider, well said -

Keshi is a corrupt coach. He introduced Mafia culture into Super Eagles. We all saw what happened between him and Adebayor when he was coach of Togo. Also he has admitted that the players deliberately ganged up on Yekini during USA '94 and refused to pass to him. What kind of leader is that?

As for Amokachi, he is just a joke. We all remember the private plane fiasco. Such a man is not capable of coaching Naija.

SiaSia has proved himself to be a steady coach with the Under 20 and Under 23 teams. He even paid out of his own pocket for a specialist fitness coach to train the team during the WYC in Holland. I think he is the outstanding candidate.

Oliseh is intelligent and well articulated and is also currently coaching in Belgium. He is also not scared of big names and he captained his country well as a player. He is tactically astute as we know from his days playing defensive midfield. However, it will be a big gamble to appoint him. Maybe he should start with the Under 20 and Olympic teams first.

This is what I have to day:

WESTERHOF: It will be a disaster for the NFA to engage his services. I believe he has lost touch with modern coaching techniques. Can someone tell me what Westerhof has been doing since 1994? If he is such a world-class coach, why has he decided to remain in Nigeria claiming 'dutchgerian'? Besides, the terrain that he worked in 1994 is not same with that of 2008. A lot of changes have taken place.

[b]AMOKACHI:
I am yet to be convinced that he is a good coach. What impact did he make at Adamawa United? I advise him to start from a local clubside and build his coaching career from there or better still serve as an assistant to a National team coach.

OLISEH: I love him as a person/player but do not think he is ripe for such a job. He will do himself favour by accepting the post of an Assistant Coach, if offered to him.

KESHI: Big boss has tried once but failed. Let's not be deceived by his over-celebrated achievements in Togo. Mind you, Togo is not more than a state in Nigeria in all ramifications. Don't forget, his last exploit in Togo was a huge failure.

SIASIA: Check out his profile: World-class National team player (just like Keshi, Oliseh, Amokachi); Gold Medalist - Under 20 African tournament; Silver Medalist - Under 20 World Cup; on the verge of qualifying our Olympic Team to the Beijing Olympic in China, etc. What else do we want?

Without fear or failure, Siasia is the ideal man for the job. He has been consistent, focused, determined and successful.
