I have said it before alot people can not differiate b/w the function of a president and a gov e.g MUSIWA SEANAT01 and alot of educated illitrate on this forum. Now the SNG are comparing the post of the presidency is being compare to that of house of assembly. In future they will compare it with that of a ward councilor. What a pity.

useless poster. Most likely have comprehension issues.

CONVENER, Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has criticised President Goodluck Jonathan over his silence on “absentee” governors.

“The most pathetic reality is the sinful silence of Mr. President, the direct beneficiary of SNG’s protests three years ago. As there is no moral authority in the land to enforce the rule of law, we are hearing of Save Enugu Group and should perhaps expect Save Taraba Group and Save Cross River Group to crop up in the near future.”

He, therefore, demanded a strict and immediate adherence to the rule of law in Enugu State in particular, and other states in general.

Since the acting governors of the affected states have refused to set up a panel to ascertain the state of health of the absentee governors before sending their findings to respective states houses of assembly to begin the impeachment process, the President who is the National Leader of PDP ought to wade in since those states are PDP controlled states and with majority in the assemblies. The President's silence shows he is covertly in support of the illegality.

What is happening in those states is actuali turning out to be shameful... Since d State Houses of Assembly hv abdicatd their responsibility, d President ought to intervene albeit informally..

Don't get it wrong, the onus is not on the state assemblies to start an impeachment process. It starts with the state executive council led by the acting governor who will constitute a medical panel to verify the governor's state of health but where the problem lies is; the medical team will most likely consist of the governors personal physician, the state commissioner of health he appointed and some other loyalists/sympathisers of the ailing governor. It will be difficult to ascertain the true state, because the report of these loyalists will be in favour of the governor since they have vested interest in keeping the governor at the helms of affair, just like the Yaradua scenario. It is only with the intervention of the President, whom without minding whose ox is gored that can help salvage the situation.

It is the Speaker of the House that actually sets up the panel, acting on a resolution/address of the State Executive Council, but since we all know that Council members were appointed by the Governor it is difficult for them to go against their principal by initiating such move.
Also, many Council members, taking their cue from the Governor, look down on the Deputy Governor and since the DG will be the direct beneficiary of such removal on health grounds of the Governor,it's hard to see any executive council member initiating/pushing the process. That's akin to political suicide, regardless of whether it's the right thing to do.

Wielding the enormous powers and influence at his disposal,he could get members of those states' Sec to do the right thing by starting the process. He is the Commander in Chief and he did swear to uphold the Constitution, same as they did.He has the powers to compel them to uphold their oaths.
Again, they are mostly his party men and being the leader of the party confers such responsibility on him to ensure his party men don't bend/break the law.

Some people are just silly o..please Tunde Bakare never said GEJ should wade into the crises or control the houses of assembly..he simply said Gej should have said something about it and not remain silent..he is the president and the pdp leader his words definitely mean a lot to Nigerians about these crises..exactly the way we expected northern leaders to speak against bokoharam(eg sultan, who has no security role)or buhari to speak against the election violence even though he wasn't in charge of security in the north..only hypocrites will come to this situation and say he should remain silent.he should speak up or else he is in support of the illegality
