Help! Nissan Maxima Gear Problem by conquerorb: 7:24am On Jan 22, 2013
I drive a Nissan Maxima 95 model. On xmas I discovered the car hit the ground when I entered a gallop. Unfortunately that led transmission oil linking, since then whenever I try to reverse the car or put it on a reverse it wouldn't move or reverse. Two mechanics ve checked it. One said the fibre is burnt while the other said the gear has been damaged and I need to get another gear box. Meanwhile the car drive if I put on drive, also the neutral and other tranny. I need u guys to advice me on what could wrong with the car.

Check to see if there are any sensors or switches that are directly positioned underneath the gearbox that may have been knocked off. I was quite shocked when i noticed a sensor under the tranny of a 2005 Maxima. For a low slung car, i wondered how long it will last in that position without being crushed out considering the nature of roads that the car would be driven on. Also, did you drive the car for a long distance without enough oil in the tranny? If so you may have had the fibres burnt.
