Ashok Agarwal, 66, Kamal Shema, 32, and 10 Nigerians alleged pipe-line vandals were paraded at the Police Force Headquarters yesterday in Abuja. These vandals were said to have been arrested by the

Anti-pipeline vandalism Unit of the police have during their different operations.
The Commander, Anti-pipeline vandalism task force, ACP Friday Ibadin stated that Fatai Afolabi, 52, Emmanuel Igbokwe, 32, and Tukur Mohammed, 27, were arrested along with Agarwal and Shema while discharging crude oil at the Premises of Prism Steel Mill in Ikirun, Osun State on January 13, 2013.

The Commander said that Agarwal who is the director of the firm and Shema, security manager, had admitted to receiving the product from vandals due to the shortfall in supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He said he received an anonymous tip from a patriotic Nigerian that some vandals siphoned crude oil from NNPC pipeline at Amomon village near Okene, Kogi State and had loaded about five trucks.

"On January 15, two trucks with registration numbers Lagos XQ 522 APP and Lagos XC 102 KSF were trailed to the premises of Prism Steel Mill transloading the product into underground tanks of the company and the arrest of the suspects was made and the product and trucks recovered as exhibits", he said.

The commander further explained that investigation into the crime indicated that Igbokwe and Mohammed were drivers of the impounded trucks, adding that the duo confessed that they loaded the product from kene/Okpilla axis of NNPC crude line on the night of January 13, 2013.

"The suspects admitted that they were taking the product to Steel Prism Mill on the instruction of one Alhaji Wahab and Samuel respectively where they will meet Afolabi who will facilitate the sale of the product to the company on the commission of two Naira per litre," Ibadin disclosed, noting that the trio of Wahab, Ahmed and Samuel are now at large.

"The other group of vandals comprising Ishola Ganiyi, Ishola Omopariola, Moruf Aremosiola; Kayode Ajose; Aramide Solomon; Kumuyi Gbenga and Bello Isahag were trailed to Anu Oluwapo filling station, Ibafon, Ogun State where they were apprehended with a truck load of petroleum product which they illegally siphoned from NNPC pipeline",

The manger of the filling station, Ganiyu, confessed to have been receiving products from his accomplices.

Ganiyu explained that he was at his filling station when Omopariola brought the tanker and asked him to buy the petroleum product, adding that he demanded for the waybill which he found to be phony.

"I was standing by the truck and checking the waybill when policemen drove into the station, arrested us and started beating me; they tore my clothes and paraded me naked as a pipeline vandal without listening to my explanations that I don't know anything about the source of the product," he said.

CSP Frank Mba, Force spokesman, said investigations into the cases were on-going and that the suspects would be charged and prosecuted as soon as it was over

I think execution is the right word,if a Nigerian does same in some countries, they,ll be arrested and their kidneys ,liver and other organs harvested while they were still alive leaving them to die painfully.

We tend to pamper foreigners who destroy our economy.can you imagine a Nigerian being arrested in Russia for oil bunkering. He will be thrown in jail and be forgotten,in Nigeria, the russian govt will talk tough and they are released to return back to same crime again.
