Nigeria has celebrated her 52nd anniversary, true enough, but it has also brought up the very re-occurring issue of unpatriotism among the Nigerian populace. The lackadaisical attitude of most Nigerians to the rendition and recitation of the national anthem and pledge respectively is a pointer to this. As much as we want to castigate the unpatriotic citizens of Nigeria, we must also be able to answer the question of why a person should be patriotic to a nation that can’t even give him/her a metamorphic umbrella of a better tomorrow? Fortunately for us, just like the biblical John, the voice of the Nigerian Students’ Roundtable has come to make straight the path of patriotism and positivism in Nigeria.

Nigeria has celebrated her 52nd anniversary, yet a question is still begging for an answer, “How many Nigerians actually understand and appreciate the true meaning of being a Nigerian?.” The first symptom of a Nigeria yet to awake is the lackadaisical and unpatriotic attitude of most Nigerians especially youth in their rendition of both the national anthem and the pledge respectively.
