The Nigerian Health Workers under the auspices of NASU Non academic staff union,Nurses, Pharmacists and other health workers Union protested this morning in Gwagwalada Abuja, seeking for the immediate removal of the Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi. The protesters numbering over one thousand, sang solidarity songs to Radio Nigeria Abuja and later went round Abuja city.
These Health workers told journalists how the Minister imposed Doctors on other Health workers in government Hospitals, thereby making them to head all the existing positions in Hospitals. One of the Union leaders claimed that the ministry of health has employed over 300 Doctors who are doing nothing in the Ministry, yet they are paid call duty allowance.
They also claimed that Doctors run their private clinics at the expense of Government Hospitals and they divert drugs to their clinics.
After, the sensitization rally the protesters proceeded to the city to meet with the government representatives.
