Russian tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly a huge admirer of Everton boss David Moyes and is likely to be lining up a move for the Scottish manager to succeed his team’s interim boss Rafa Benitez at the end of this season.
The Daily Mail reports that Abramovich has been speaking highly of Moyes, who has made rapid stridesat Everton since his arrivalat Goodison Park in 2002. Moyes has not only managed to keep his side in the Premier League amidst their financial woes but also consistently challenged for a spot in Europe, mostly though in the Europa League.
The news comes as a big jolt to Toffees fans who willnot want their manager to leave at any cost. There isnothing concrete yet though as Abramovich plans a post Rafa strategy to try and get his side more amongst the trophies next season after having adisappointing campaign so far this season.
One can more or less be certain about Benitez’s axing after this season as the Spaniard has done nothing to keep his job withrespect to results thus far,not to mention the scant regard he has among fans of the West London club, whom he rubbed the wrong way during his time at Liverpool.
It will be interesting to see whether a conservative and principled man like Moyes will take charge of Chelsea next summer, should an offer come knocking, especially given the way Abramovich likes to take centre stage in his team’s matters at times both on and off the field.

Again?At least Benitez would be gone.
