They keep deducting ur money @ their will without any obvious reasons. btwn Jan. 1st and now, they've deducted over N1,500 on that account and yet u cant even tell wen they put 1kobo 4 u as interest. Obviously, am clossing that account soonest. Pilfering Bank!!!

ACCESS BANK is the most useless bank in Nigeria. They keep introducing useless charges to people's accounts - this month it will be "electronic channel fees", the next it will be "alert fees", or "account maintenance fees". Been banking with FCMB and so far, I have been impressed with their services and fees (when applicable).

Banks still pay interest on savings account but there is a convenant to a savings account, once u break the convenent no interest for d account dat month
The convenant is u most not make more than three withdrawal from the account within a month to get the interest for that month

Diamond savings account pays interest to the best of my knowledge.

Ecobank and UBA will not only pay but deduct operational costs.

Are u a learner or a nigerian...were did u get ur facts 4rm.....i havnt gotten any interest on my savings account 4 da past 2 years.... Seems like we are paying them to keep our mony safe....
The interest rates I stated above are for fixed deposits. You complain about charges, you get charged R99 (N2,000) every month on current account, if you withdraw R1,000 (N20,000) from your savings account your charged R50 (N1,000). And don't ask me how I got my facts, there's a thing called google it will make ur life easier. I receive N83 on my GTBank every month. Maybe the bank don't like you.

Savings acct as the name implies is meant to be 4 ur savings. So if u decide to run it lyk a current acct by makn severals wdrls frm it in a month. U r nt entitled 2 any interest. Its same in every bank.
Re: Does Your Savings Account Still Receive Monthly Interest? by MaziOmenuko: 6:19pm On Feb 10, 2013
If you run your savings account like a current account, you wont get any interest on it.
Gtb pays me interest on my savings account. I withdraw only from the current.

Re: Does Your Savings Account Still Receive Monthly Interest? by chidibond(m): 6:42pm On Feb 10, 2013
Greedy Nigerians. The name as it implies means you use the account for savings. Every bank pays interest, but u don't leave a bal of 5000 and expect 500 interest. Take time to know how its paid. Some pay monthly, others quarterly, and its not a function of turnover but average monthly balance. SMH @ u OP

At times, I wouldn't make withdrawals in, say, 3 months, yet I am charged, my balance reduces each new month.

Stanbic IBTC Bank pays interest on savings account provided you dont do more than 3 withdrawals in a month. That is typical of savings accounts; they are not meant to be run as current accounts. The problem is this-most people want to avoid paying COT on current account so they end up running their savings accounts for daily transactions and still expect the bank to pay them monthly interest. You cant eat your cake and have it!

BTW, if you want higher interest on your deposits, you can opt for fixed deposit investments.

Yomieluv: A saving account will attract interest rate when withdrawal isn't more than 3 times in a month(I stand to be corrected),otherwise it will be treated like current account.

I think your statement is wrong.
I hardly touch my savings account but no show.

An old friend that got a marketing job in a bank once needed my assistance to strengthen her job.

I gave her a mil for a fixed deposit account, guess the interest after 6 months; 11000.

Forget about any positive feedback as regards interest from our banks.

Yomieluv: A saving account will attract interest rate when withdrawal isn't more than 3 times in a month(I stand to be corrected),otherwise it will be treated like current account.

That's quite true. When a savings account customer makes 3 or more withdrawals in a calender month, such customer losses the holding right of accrued savings interest for that month.
The rational is this: Savings ought be kept as savings while a working float account be. It is believed that when a savings fund is drawn beyond a certain limit, it is not worthy to be classified as savings but as 'float'. SMS alerts are optional.
