Expo begins tomorrow

The Southwest Grassroots Business and Investment Forum for regional growth takes off tomorrow in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The four-day programme will take place at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding on the hilltop behind the State Secretariat along Osogbo-Gbogan Road. Osun State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Alhaji Bashir Ajibola, decried the report of the shut down of the centre as an immoral effort by those attempting to appropriate government property.

He said it is not true that the centre is sealed up. According to him, “what the government has done is to sanitise the management of the centre in line with government policy.”

Pavilions have already been set up at the venue of the regional expo organised by Vintage Press Limited in collaboration with CEEDEE Resources.

The opening ceremony will be chaired by Former Justice Minister Prince Bola Ajibola. Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi will deliver the keynote address.

Governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos) Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) are special guests of honour. Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola is the chief host.

The fair will feature the Southwest states and private investors exhibiting agriculture produce and products.

On Thursday, there will be an investment workshop to be facilitated by NERFUND, Federal Institute of Industrial Reseach, Oshodi (FIIRO), Cocoa Reseach Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan and the National Health Insurance Scheme, among others.

The Friday forum will engage commissioners and top officials of ministries of Agriculture, Regional Integration and Trade and Commerce. It will be co-ordinated by former Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. (Mrs.) Tomi Adekanye.
