I believe the Internet/computer. That I can be in US and be working with someone in Russia, Nigeria or any country in the world is an great marvel made possible by the Internet and computer which powers it.

Its has from old consistently developed from the greatest invention- Human beings to shelter, clothing, gaming, medicine, chair, table, fire, electricity, mirror, ink, paper, pen, skyscrapers, telephone, radio, Tv set, typewriter, braille, computer, shoes, chandelier, air-plain, cement, Kama sutra (you disagree with kama sutra?), cigarette, beer, wine, gin, soda, indomie, golden-moore and the list goes on.

The sequence of inventions may not necessarily be as listed but alot has been said about which is due to be the best invention so far.

However, my subjective view sees the telephone (cell-phone) as the best invention so far.

Lol. Now I agree that no idea is original; whatever you are thinking about is being thought about (this same minute) by someone else somewhere. I almost opened this thread 2 days ago (though I would have replaced "favourite" with greatest) because I was thinking about how phenomenal the Internet was, and I was wondering whether there ever was any greater invention than the internet. I've had this debate with at least four different sets of friends within the last six years.

Admittedly, electricity paved the way for countless other inventions (including the internet), and so it makes sense to conclude that electricity is indeed the single most important invention. However, if we were to adopt a 'specific' as opposed to a 'general' approach to the topic, I'd say the Internet is truly remarkable. . .it is impossible to describe how wonderful this invention is.

The best inventions in order of importance to me are Electricity, The locomotive engine and The search engine and not entirely the internet...without search engines like Google and Bing, the internet will not be as porpular as it is today...it is for this that it was able to steal the show from the fax machine and others that may have evolved to something else...think deeper and get my point.

Yes, it was discovered.In a sense it qualifies for invention through the means of using it to light bulbs, appliances,etc.
