Journalist turned politician, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has vowed to disgrace Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose and his anointed successor, Kola Olusola, in the July 14 governorship polls in the state. According to him, he has done it severally in the past and would do so again. Ojudu, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, described Fayose’s stomach infrastructure as sham. He told Vanguard: “There is no longer stomach infrastructure again. It is a myth. People have not been paid in 12 months. Salaries have not been paid; civil servants and local government officials have not been paid. “You are talking of stomach infrastructure if I am a civil servant and you have not paid me in 12 months, what is stomach infrastructure in that? If truly, you are doing stomach infrastructure, you must regularly pay the workers so that they can feed themselves. This last Christmas, he didn’t even give them rice as he used to give them. It is a government of deceit. Fayose is just deceiving the people. Go around with him now; nobody hails him anywhere again. ” I am his (Fayose’s) husband. The Yoruba people have a saying that the mad man has a master. In 2006, I chased him out of this place. “I took all his lawmakers who were members of PDP; I took them to Lagos for two months. I kept them there. When I was ready, I brought them back to impeach him. In 2011, he contested against me for Senate; I defeated him. I had 68,000 votes; he had 21,000 votes. “So, forget about all these myths he sells to you out there. I am back again, and I know I am the one who can chase him out. If there is anybody he fears, it is me. We will take care of him on July 14.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/ekiti-guber-buharis-aide-babafemi-ojudu.html

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is not convinced that state police is the solution to the insecurity challenges in the country. Buhari made the remark during an interview with the Voice of America Hausa Service on Tuesday. He hinged his argument on the premise that most states are not financially stable to support the state police as according to him, most of the states still owed salaries of workers. “I want the Nigerian Constitution to be consulted first and see what it says. If it says they should be allowed, then they should be allowed but don’t forget, how many times did we have to release money to states in the name of bailouts to enable them pay salaries? “How many states are able to pay their workers in time? And you add the police to them? People should look at this matter very well.” When asked further if he was convinced about State Police, he expressed worries over the capability of the states to shoulder such responsibility. “No I am not convinced. We should have solved the current insecurity in the North East and South South by now. “Can the states be able to shoulder the burden if the Police? “You cannot just give someone guns and ammunition, train him and refuse to pay him, you know what will eventually happen,” Buhari added. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/killings-buhari-speaks-on-state-police.html

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally explained what he meant by the remarks he recently made about Nigerian youths that led to widespread criticisms while he was away in London. MC EBISCO recalls that while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster penultimate week, President Buhari remarked that a lot of Nigerian youths were lazy and waiting on just governmnet. “More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free,” he said. Even though the comment was interpreted as a dismissal of the work ethic of most Nigerian youths and drew criticism from political opponents and the public, the president had never directly explained his remarks. However, while speaking during an interview with Voice of America, Hausa service, in Washington, United States on Tuesday, the President said his words were misinterpreted by the media who love to do what they like. He explained, “You know Nigeria’s population is now between 180 and 190 million and 60 per cent of this population is youth that is 30 years downward. “You know in the North most youths are uneducated or school dropouts. If not because we had good harvests in the last two farming seasons, the situation would have been deteriorated. “These youths even if they travel out of the North for greener pasture ,they hardly make it economically because what they earn as income cannot afford them to meet their basic needs or return home. “All these explanations I made, they refused to highlight them in their report and you know the media in Nigeria in most cases only do what they like. “For instance the nation’s achievements in the agricultural sector where millions of Nigerians benefited financially were left unreported by the media.” President Buhari is currently on a working visit to overseas where he has met his US counterpart, President Donald Trump, at the White House. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/media-reported-what-they-liked-on-my.html

The sins of OBJ,Wole Soyinka, pastor Bakare,Tinubu, and some of the leaders and youths against God in 2015 election brought us to the precarious darkest period in the history of Nigeria. They worked against the will of God and are serving punishment for the sins they committed.why are they crying wolf instead of ask God for forgiveness. PMB has been a known tyrant, dictator, blood socking demon, totalitarian, authoritarian and Muslim fundamentalist who combined the wickedness of king Nebuchadnezzar and that of Adolf Hitler in his quest for power. In fact Nigerians need to hold them responsible for whatever drawback situation we find ourselves today. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/see-most-blood-shocking-demons.html

The Indigenous People of Biafra has called on President Donald Trump of America who is scheduled to meet President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday to pressure him(Buhari) to release their members in various detention facilities, who were hauled in for celebrating his inauguration. IPOB said that it views the invitation of President Buhari to the US as a slap on democracy, especially as his actions since coming to power in 2015 has shown his aversion for democracy. Speaking through its media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, in a press release issued to MC EBISCO in Awka, the group faulted the US embassy in Nigeria, blaming it for not transmitting to President Trump the incessant killings going on in Nigeria under Buhari. Part of the release reads, “We would like to seize this opportunity of a meeting between President Trump and ‘Buhari’ to draw the attention of the American people to the plight of Biafrans in detention across Nigeria especially the four that are still in detention in a maximum security prison simply because they came out to celebrate with millions of other people around the world the day Trump was sworn into office. “It is also important that we remind the US presidency, since it appears the US embassy in Nigeria failed to do so, the enormity of the brutality and cold blooded massacre of innocent citizens merely exercising their right to freedom of assembly on that fateful day of January 20, 2017.” The group said there is something morally repugnant about Buhari visiting Washington to discuss democracy when his administration is anything but democratic. It said the failure of United States government to hold this regime to account is what may have emboldened and encouraged them to embark on the wholesale ethnic cleansing of parts of Benue State. It added that, “IPOB would like to know if President Trump, by virtue of this invitation to Buhari, is justifying the cold blooded massacre and illegal detention of tens of innocent Biafrans that rallied in Igweocha (Port Harcourt) on that fateful day of January 20, 2017 during his inauguration. “What the Trump administration appear to be doing is inadvertently giving the green light to brutal anti-democratic regimes in Africa of which the ‘Buhari’ APC is one, to murder and detain at will. There is nothing democratic about ‘Buhari’ to justify his invitation to the White House. “Whoever it is at the United States embassy in Abuja, responsible for compiling and transmitting reports of regime atrocities back to the State Department in Washington, failed woefully in his or her duty, because this current ‘Buhari’ regime is the worst government in the history of Nigeria. Both in terms of brutality, wickedness and total disregard for democratic norms and rule of law. There is nothing about this ‘Buhari’ regime that qualifies it to be given the honour of visiting the office of the leader of the free world. The group said welcoming Buhari to the White House means welcoming tyranny into the bowel of democracy, and sends out the message that United States of America is standing shoulder to shoulder with a mass murderer and tyrant, contrary to its stated objectives. “What those who are behind this visit of ‘Buhari’ to the White House may have succeeded in doing is give the official Trump administration endorsement to ‘Buhari’ to go on killing and locking people up at will, including those that came out on the streets to celebrate President Trump’s victory. “It makes a mockery of the ideals, values and founding principles of the United States of America that the man responsible for the illegal detention and brutal murder of those celebrating the election of a US president is being welcomed to White House as if nothing happened. “Does it mean President Trump is not aware of the 20th of January 2017 massacre at Port Harcourt or the US mission to Nigeria, especially the US ambassador, failed to inform the president.? It listed Ikenna Igwe, Uchenna Innocent, Bright Sunday Okoro and Chidinma Godwin Nwafor as those still languishing in prison for no other reason than the fact that they were celebrating Trump’s victory. Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has said he will probe the past administrations that failed to curtail the Boko Haram insurgency, if he wins the 2019 presidential election. The sect came into prominence during President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure and the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, is still battling with their continued attacks in the Northern part of the country. Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday, Atiku said it is taking too long to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents. “Eight years after, Nigerian government is still fighting Boko Haram that are not professionally trained. “I want to be the president of Nigeria because I would be able to do things I could not do as vice president. I will investigate how the government was unable to defeat Boko Haram for years. I will also investigate the procurement of arms bought by this administration,” he said. Atiku also vowed to tackle corruption, accusing the Buhari-led government of shielding some people from the law. “If Nigerians can recall, we initiated the Economic and Financial (Crimes) Commission (EFCC). I’m the person that sourced for the takeoff funds for the EFCC,” he said. “In this administration, there are people who are untouchable, they are doing things that are not in order but they are being shielded by the government. If elected Nigeria’s president, my administration will not spare anybody. When I was in power, none of my relatives or friends was found wanting.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-atiku-vows-to-probe-jonathan.html

A food seller broke into tears after she was allegedly accused of using water from mortuary to cook food at the Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra state. A journalist, Ngwu Victor Bright, paid the distressed woman a visit and consoled her over what he labelled a rumor to tarnish her image. Below is what Ngwu Victor Bright shared on Facebook… CONSPIRACY &PROPAGANDA! CHARACTER ASSASSINATION This woman here is called NWANYI NANKA, every Staffs and students in Fed Poly Oko know what am saying. She sell foods like Rice, Beans, Plantain, Meat etc. She cooks like three coolers of rice every day but finish selling before 2 pm. WHAT MADE HER FOOD OUTSTANDING? Nwanyi Nanka is a very jovial and neat woman, she serves food as mothers serves food for their children, the meat she serves is so sizeable that it can make three meats compare to other sellers. She even sells on credit to students whom she know can not afford it at that moment. These features made her very outstanding more than any other seller and these brought jealousy and envy among her co food sellers. Some lecturers can not settle down without demanding for her food including students. Just about two days ago some students were paid to tarnish her image, they went to social media proclaiming that some group of Police invaded school and arrested Nwanyi Nanka for using water from mortuary to cook , they added that it has been confirmed fact. When i saw this on Facebook and WhatsApp, I couldn’t believe it, as a certified journalist I had to wait till the next morning and I called one of my students and asked her to check if Nwanyi Nanka is at her shop, she confirmed that she was there but added she has been crying since morning because she came to sell as usual not knowing what people have done with her name ,students gathered in ewe watching her as a thief just for her to discovered what her enemies have done with her name. I spoke with her and consoled her also but why on earth will someone be so wicked to tarnish someones hard earned reputation.. This world is so cruel and some students including some mass com students who are supposed to verify the rumors couldn’t wait for verification instead they started broadcasting and feeding people with fallacy. This in journalism is called defamation and a very punishable offence. PLEASE DON’T ALWAYS JUMP INTO CONCLUSION, ALWAYS VERIFY EVERY INFORMATION. THANKS. I am Comr Victor Chinonso…certified journalist http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/heartbreaking-story-of-food-seller.html

A serving corps member in Kwara state, identified as Eva who was undergoing the mandatory 3-week orientation at the Yikpata camp has died. The deceased was a graduate of Oil & Gas Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt. She was said to have slumped on the parade ground and was attended to at the camp’s health clinic, before she was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Sadly, she was confirmed dead at the hospital. Eva’s friend posted about her death on her Instagram page. In an internal release by one of the leaders of the corps members, Eva was said to have died of internal bleed for an undisclosed illness, according to the Camp Director. See the release below: In view of the recent event(s) on camp, a few concerned corp members, myself inclusive approached the camp director and other officials to table some pressing issues, particularly on the sad demise of our fellow corp member, Ms Chukwu Eva. Many events have happened within the short interval of the news, notably the rage among friends of the deceased and other corp members as well as an incident involving an embittered corp member at the camp clinic. It is with the realization that a protest could loom and that many things would go haphazard, we went to the authority. We also approached them on the news that was spreading rapidly amongst us about a herdsman spotted with ammunition within the camp. The camp director listened to our agitation that was a blend of fury, but with respect for constituted authority. He was visibly agitated too and gave us particular reasons why we lost dear Eva. She was said to have died of internal bleeding, queried to a cause I would keep a secret for respect to Eva. The bleeding was the cause of the edema(swelling) that Eva had in her limbs. Eva was confirmed dead at Ilorin(Teaching hospital) having been rushed there with an ambulance. He noted that against previous years where only medical corp members managed the clinic, professionals from the general and teaching hospitals were attendant to her until she was referred. It is so sad that we lost a potential leader, but we pray her soul rests in peace. On the issue of the supposed herdsman, the director said it was a non-uniformed policeman parading with ammunition. Notwithstanding, he had called the commissioner of police as well as ensured deployment of 11 local vigilante who had gone round with ammunitions to check the camp. He noted they know the terrain of the camp well since they are indigenes. He also said the efforts would be in synchrony with that of the 97 military and paramilitary personnel in the camp. Notably in his argument was the fact that the camp has received very little attention from the state government. Said Kwara camp is only better than Abia camp in the whole country. One reason why the governor hasn’t visited the camp. Sadly, all concerns tabled to the state government have remained futile to date. We requested for leniency in how the security personnel treat us, and he had made a promise to that effect. However, fellow corp members, it is expedient that we take good care of ourselves. We should report to the camp clinic early to avoid disastrous outcomes. And we should do so in good faith and not pretence. In 13 days time, we’re out of here. We shall remain strong without any casualty. This report is unbiased and based on evidence. God bless. Tony (Platoon 9) The NYSC is yet to release a statement on the corps member’s demise. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/how-corps-member-died-during.html

TBoss shot a video of herself answering basic questions that people don’t know or misunderstand about her. In a post on her Instagram page, the BBNaija finalist reveals details about herself that people don’t know. she said, “Everybody misunderstands TBoss, and this was an opportunity to clear the air and face my fears. I was going to say I had no fears at first. Yes, I get irritated by things, but I didn’t really think I had any fears. Yet as I sat on a stool in a studio looking right at the camera, I realized that I had a couple of real fears. Most people won’t believe it, but I am human and I have fears. There was a point in my life when I sought validation to live. I always seemed to need someone’s approval and I didn’t get it. That was fear – fear of not getting validation. Then I got into the #BBNaijahouse and I had to live and tolerate different people from all works of life. I was scared of how people would feel about me when I left the house. Will they love me? Will they hate me? But when I came out, I saw that the love was unbelievable. I uncaged my fear! How did I #UNCAGE my fear? I entered the #BBNaija house and came out a stronger person! Boss Nation, what is your fear? What is caging you from being you? What is it that you fear the most? Post a video and tag me using #UNCAGE. I want to see you all #UNCAGE yourselves today. The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, is set to take major action following the recent violent nature of herdsmen. The body is set to review regional regulations to curb herdsmen and farmers’ crisis in the region. The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the ECOWAS Commissioner for Agriculture, Environment and Water Resources, Sékou Sangare said this at an ongoin Regional Conference on Transhumance in Abuja on Tuesday. Sangare said the review was pertinent to address frequent clashes between herders and farmers. Director, Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Alain Sy Traore who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the commissioner, added that member states were also responsible for implementing regional regulations at the national level. According to him, countries are expected to establish transhumance committees to address the issues of livestock management in the region. He, however, said that only seven member states had established such committees. “From the 15 member states, only seven have established the transhumance committees, that is a serious problem. “All Sahel countries have done it because the issue of transhumance in that zone is more recurrent; countries like Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Togo, Benin have done it. “Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and those countries not really tackling the issue are yet to set up such committees, this is now becoming more of a security issue, I am sure they will do so. “We are growing in terms of population and we cannot practice transhumance activities like it was in the 1960s, it is the 21st century we have to change,” he said. The commissioner said that ECOWAS was developing investment programmes to redefine the livestock value chain in West Africa and also working with development partners to invest in countries. Also speaking, Dr Cyriaque Agnekethom, ECOWAS Director, Peacekeeping and Regional Security, reiterated the need to review regulations on small arms and light weapons. “Today, herders, instead of using sticks to move their animals, use weapons and it is a serious concern for ECOWAS. “One of the instruments that ECOWAS has put in place since 2006 is the Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons which aims at regulating the possession of arms. “Questions are being raised as to how herders access weapon with existing regulations. “During the meeting, we will try to understand, is it the regulations that are not explicit enough, or member states are not putting appropriate measures to implement the provisions of the convention?” Agnekethom further called on member states to set up their national commissions on small arms to coordinate countries’ efforts in the control of small arms and light weapons. “One of the provisions is for member states to establish a National Commission on Small Arms to coordinate countries’ efforts in the control of small arms and light weapons. “We know there are positive developments from Nigeria in that regard but in many of our member states, they are not functioning,’’ he added. The ECOWAS meeting of Ministers of Security and Agriculture/Animal Resources on Transhumance Security is aimed at resolving the challenges posed by conflicts between farmers and herders in the region. It has as its theme: “Transhumance Security: Working together for Regional Integration, Peace and Security.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/herdsmen-killings-ecowas-set-to-take.html

A presidential aspirant from Imo State, Chief Iheanacho Ezeakor has formally joined the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA. Ezeakor was over the weekend accompanied by his supporters to the national secretariat of the APDA in Abuja, where he obtained his membership card. He was received by the national chairman of the party, Shittu Mohammed Kabir, who assured that the Party will not enter into any pact with other political parties or groups ahead of the 2019 general elections. Ezeakor had earlier in his speech hailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration for a second term, saying it would boost his chances of winning the 2019 election. He said with Buhari’s declaration, the All Progressives Congress, APC, which he accused of non-performance, had already been defeated in the election. The presidential aspirant added that there was also need for youths to build inter-ethnic bridges to cross-fertilise ideas on ameliorating the sufferings in the land and avoid mistakes of the past. “Today, we have been able to mobilise and motivate some young people across the country for a political renaissance because we realize that the reason older politicians looked down on the youths in political appointments and elective positions had to do with how the youths conducted themselves. “However, we are poised to changing that story. We will continue to be a voice for the youths and set laudable examples in our states,” he said. He had earlier told journalists that “with Buhari’s declaration, our job has been made easier. I said this because we are far better than him. It would have been a different thing if the APC had presented another person.” On his own, the APDA chairman, Kabir, who noted that the economic woes experienced in the country was caused by the errors of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples’ Democratic Party as well as the ‘third force’ champions, said the Party’s nationalistic ideologies cannot be compromised for selfish benefits. He said: “APDA is not going into any coalition ahead of the 2019 general elections. We cannot be seen compromising our ideology which is nationalistic. “We already see Nigeria as one big family where the welfare of all citizens remains paramount. Against that backdrop, we cannot be seen queuing behind the PDP, the APC, or those promoting the ‘Third Force’ movement. “These people brought the hardship in the country. Olu Falae as far back as the 1980’s masterminded the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) that ruined our agricultural sector. “I am a farmer. I grow beans but I cannot export to Europe because Nigerian beans are banned abroad. But, today, beans are brought into this country from Europe. Then, tell me, why did they sign us up to the World Trade Organisation in the first place? “Look at the oil from the South-South and South-East. How has these politicians advocating for coalitions and mergers used that crude oil to better the lives of the people in those areas? “So, our position is clear. We are not going into any alliance. However, we are open to all Nigerians who want to join us in the pursuit of our people-oriented ideology. He further urged the youths to resist politicians who attempt to polarize the nation and heat-up the polity needlessly. “You should never allow our political leaders to continue in power by means of ‘divide and rule’ antics. Rather, develop passion for people and work to achieve a better life for them. That way, you can successful take over helm of affairs of the nation from these old politicians,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-presidential-aspirant-ezeakor.html

The people of Orumba North and Orumba South in Anambra have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency to the unending erosion disaster in the federal constituency. They made the request in Abuja on Friday when the traditional and town union leaders, led by the member representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep Ben Nwankwo, visited Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The lawmaker told State House Correspondents after the meeting that the disaster was beyond the capacity of the affected communities and the state to handle. He said that the disaster required urgent intervention of both the federal government and international agencies. “We are here on a triple mission; the first is to commend the federal government of Nigeria through the Vice President on their very gargantuan input toward the burial of (late) Dr Alex Ekwueme. “The second mission is to notify them of the war going on in Orumba North and South between erosion and the people as to who owns the land. “While there is Boko Haram in the North East there is `erosion Haram’ in the South East particularly in Anambra state. “The Agulu-Oko-Nanka, down to Umunze is the deepest gully erosion in the country and we have notified the Vice President of this situation; about 100 houses have caved in and hundreds of people rendered homeless. “They are squatting at various places and we are asking for international intervention especially in the area of survey, risk assessment, mapping and ecological engineering. “But most importantly, the site in-toto should be declared ecological emergency to give it the attention it rightly deserves so that the international community should be able to come into it, otherwise the next two years there will be more disaster.’’ Nwankwo said that the third plea was to ask the federal government to upgrade the two federal institutions in the area to degree-awarding institutions. They are the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Orumba North and the Federal College of Education, Technical, Umunze in Orumba South. He explained that the request was to ensure that both institutions did not continue to produce manpower that would not be utilized by the industry. The lawmaker stated that the request was trendy and international adding that more than 13 countries had such polytechnic universities. Nwankwo commended the President in the onerous task of fixing Nigeria. The Rep said that the declaration of the erosion emergency was not essentially a legislative process but one that could be started by the executive. He said the communities had properly situated it with the executive domain and promised that when the leadership tabled it before the National Assembly, it would receive positive attention. Nwankwo said that the legislative instrument that would back the request was already before the National Assembly. The traditional ruler of Oko, Prof. Laz Ekwueme, added that the erosion situation in the region had continued to grow worse with every rain and called for urgent help by the federal government. “We are pleading and praying and urging the government to do everything possible to start work on it with international help. “It is beyond the community, beyond the state even beyond the federal government but it can initiate the process of getting outside bodies to assist. “We are in the great danger of losing the whole communities and beyond; whatever the media can do to help to urge everybody to come to assist and to save our souls we will appreciate it,’’ the monarch said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/buhari-to-declare-state-of-emergency-in.html

The Action Democratic Party, ADP, has told President Muhammadu that Nigerian youths are actually the most industrious in the world. While delivering a keynote address at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari was quoted to have said that most Nigerian youths want everything free without doing anything. The Presidency, through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has since clarified what Buhari actually said. Reacting in a statement made available to MC EBISCO by its Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, the party said that it was “shocked that a president of a country can make such derogatory remarks about his fellow citizens; citizens that he swore an oath to make lives better for. “At such a stage, it is expected of the president to use the opportunity to woo investors, clearly stating that our youths are equipped with skills that can help them make the best out of their investment but instead, our president decided to take a swipe at our young and vibrant population. “A country is assessed not by their old men but by their youths who are the strength and the builders of the said country.” ADP added “A man who has supervised the loss of over 10 million jobs since 2015, the comments are even more insulting.” “I have never seen any group of people anywhere in the world more determined to make it against all odds than our youths. “The ADP says that it is proud of the Nigerian youth and what they have been able to achieve thus far even without the least support from government noting that Nigerian youths are shining examples all over Africa and the world. “The party says that it is proud of the exploits of the Nigerian youths in business, showbiz, entertainment, sports, education, music and every other sector where they have held their own. “The party says that this is why their focus is on the Nigerian youths who are the actual builders of any society. The party urges the youths in Nigeria to continue to shine in every field of their endeavour even as they register to get their PVCs to be able to vote in youth friendly leaders in the coming elections.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/lazy-nigerianyouths-adp-attacks-buhari.html

Yenagoa – Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Wednesday described as childish and uncalled-for the looters’ lists released by the Federal Government and celebrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Condemning the move of the Federal Government, Dickson said the looters’ lists were a total distraction on the polity. He spoke during a live media interview in his office in Yenagoa, the state capital. He stated that “the cluelessness and insensitivity of the APC has left the country divided more than ever before” and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently unite Nigeria. According to him, the ruling APC is grossly fragmented and disorganised and had failed abysmally. He also condemned what he termed the constant demonisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the APC. Dickson, who reiterated his belief in the two dominant political parties, advised the Federal Government to deliver on their promise to Nigerians. The governor lamented the spate of senseless killings in Nigeria and urged the APC-led Federal Government to focus on tackling insecurity and economic recession, instead of distracting Nigerians with the “so called looters’ lists”. “This country needs two strong political parties. A united, not fragmented party in government and a cohesive and clear-headed opposition party. “The constant demonisation of the PDP by the APC, for me, is childish and uncalled-for. I have the feeling that the APC, though in power, still behaves like a party in the opposition and on a campaign mode”, Dickson stated. He continued: “I believe the APC has failed on its promise to Nigerians. They have failed to secure the country; the country is on a precipice. I think they should have done better than they are doing right now. “The PDP made its mistakes but it achieved a lot for our democracy and our country. There is too much division in the country right now, and the Federal Government has to unify the country. “They should look at the wanton killings in the country not only by Boko Haram but by the herdsmen and arrest the ugly situation”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/fg-looters-lists-childish-dickson.html

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday berated the presidency for allegedly insulting Nigerians. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had last week said that some Nigerians are twisting every word from President Muhammadu Buhari in the negative. He said the aim was to demean and de-market Buhari ahead of the 2019 elections. Adesina said this in response to those who criticised Buhari’s statement that the late Libyan president, Muammar Gadaffi, armed the herdsmen who have been terrorising the country. The PDP accused the presidency for insulting Nigerians who criticised the failure of the Federal Government in the handling of insurgency and governance in the country. This was contained in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, where he said that it was shocking that rather than being repentant and responsive to the views of Nigerians, the Presidency has resorted to insulting the citizens. PDP said, “If in the course of investigations, it (Buhari Presidency) discovered that the insurgents were from outside Nigeria, why is the government reportedly paying ransoms to them and even considering amnesty options? “Is it part of governance to pay ransom to invaders? These are the questions that Nigerians expect the Buhari presidency to answer. “It is therefore a misplaced reaction for any member of the Buhari Presidency to recourse to personal insults, diatribes and invectives against Nigerians, low or high, who had expressed his view or demanded some explanations in the government’s handling of the insurgency challenge. “The simplest expectation of Nigerians is for the Buhari Presidency to be alive to its responsibility by strategically responding to the pains, suffering and lethal starvation it has caused the entire citizenry in the last three years.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/pdp-attacks-presidency-for-allegedly.html

A Twitter user @hadjiyy, took to platform to make a stunning revelation of what happened at a naming ceremony in Kano State. According to him, money got stolen at the event and Codeine was reportedly found in bags of 90% of women who attended the event. MONEY was stolen in a house at KANO during a naming ceremony so all d WOMEN(married/single) were ordered 2 present their hand bags 4 searching. Surprisingly CODEINE was found in almost 90% of d bags searched…. what a Pity…Kuma matan aure sunfi yawa. Allah ya shirya This is coming after Dr. Bala Muhammad, a Bayero University lecturer attached to the Faculty of Communication, while presenting a paper at the Kano Youth Summit on Peace Advocacy and Development, organised by Hamisu Magaji Foundation, at Mambayya House, on Monday, accused Igbo drug merchants of allegedly supplying codeine syrups in the north. The Bayero University Lecturer who presented a paper titled “Nexus Between Youth, Drugs, Crime and Insecurity”, wondered why drug abuse was not prevalent in the Southeastern region, but the Igbos supply cough syrup that contains codeine for the consumption of the Northern youth. Daily Nigerian reported that Dr. Muhammed who concluded by telling the general public to fight the menace themselves within their respective communities and further advised people not to disown the youth engaged in drug abuse, said; “Our investigation revealed that drug abuse is beyond normal marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, etc. It has moved to the extent that the medicines we take in order to cure our diseases are now being converted into hard drugs. “We then discovered that it is the handiwork of the Igbo people, who connive with our local people here, to supply the codeine into our region, especially into Kano state. “There are many instances where Igbo guys were arrested for supplying codeine into Kano and some parts of the North. The cases have been reported in national dailies. “So, why shouldn’t they take it to their region? Why don’t their youth engage in drug abuse? This is really sad, and we have to rise up to fight this menace,” he lamented. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/codeine-reportedly-found-in-bags-of-90.html

Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has told the state governor, Simon Lalong, that there will be no automatic ticket for him ahead of the 2019 election. The state chairman of APC, Latep Dabang, told journalists after the meeting on Friday in Jos that Lalong’s declaration “does not foreclose any other chieftain of the party from contesting because there would be party primaries.” The governor had declared during the stakeholders’meeting of the APC held in Yelwa Club, Bukuru in Jos. Dabang said, “Governor Lalong has formally declared his intention to contest the 2019 governorship election on the platform of the APC. “We are democrats and can’t stop anybody from contesting. However, the governor won’t get automatic ticket because we will surely conduct primaries. “But for now, governor Simon Bako Lalong is the one that has publicly declared that he would contest this election come 2019 on the platform of the APC. If there are others, we cannot stop them from contesting. “The declaration of the governor was not part of the agenda. But at the end of the meeting, there were motions by party faithful requesting the governor to clear the air on whether he would contest the 2019 elections or not. “And the governor took time to also inform the gathering that there has been pressure from all sectors, including the political setting, the Plateau State Youth Council and quite a number of spirited party faithful who have have been drumming support for him to seek a second term in office.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-no-automatic-ticket-for-gov-lalong.html

The Ibadan Anglican Diocese, on Friday urged the leadership of President Muhammadu Buari to stop what it called the blame game. The Church stated that the absence of justice was the main reason many Nigerians were resorting to self-help. It made these assertions in a communique issued and signed by the Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa at the end of its second session of the 22nd Synod of the Diocese, held at St David Anglican Church Ijokodo in Ibadan. The communique said “The church notes that at every crossroad of the nation’s problems, we resort to and defend our sectarian interests, no wonder our national patrimony is so parlous and derelict. “There is tension everywhere because of too much divergent opinions to issues as we don’t want the same thing, as what a section wants is inimical to to the interest of another section and nobody is ready to shift ground for the other. “There is no justice in the land and it is difficult to preach righteousness – reasons why people now resort to self-help when they cannot get redress by just means. “The Synod sees a nation with brutalized economy and solution cannot be achieved by trading blames as such keeps worsening the situation by keeping exchanging blame words.” Nigeria, according to the communique would start becoming a nation when the yearnings of federating units were addressed rather than suppressed. On the forthcoming 2019 elections, the synod counselled politicians to eschew violence and brigandage. On the issue of restructuring, the synod wants a return to the 1963 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where each federating unit will consolidate “on their comparative advantage to generate funds for self sufficiency.” The synod sought for a revisit of 2014 Confab Report and implementation of same. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/stop-blame-game-it-worsens-situation.html
