PoliticsHow Nigerians Hastened My Declaration, By Buhari by 11Ebisco(op): 6:09am On Apr 12, 2018
• Says Muammar Gadaffi trained killer herdsmen
• Rules out dealing with fraudsters on Leah Sharibu
• INEC won’t allow electronic voting in 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari has clarified his Monday’s declaration of intention to run for another term in office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While receiving the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby, in London, the United Kingdom yesterday, Buhari said he declared because Nigerians were talking too much and he needed to break the ice.

“I declared before leaving home because Nigerians were talking too much about whether I would run or not. So, I felt I should break the ice. We have many things to focus on, like security, agriculture, economy and anti-corruption crusade.

“We needed to concentrate on them, and politics should not be a distraction. The majority of Nigerians appreciate what we are doing, and that is why I am re-contesting.”

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said ‎President Buhari recounted some successes of the administration to his guest, with whom he has built a deep friendship in recent times, and was quite particular about strides in agriculture.

“We have cut the importation of rice by about 90%, saving billions of dollars in the process. People who rushed into petrol money have now gone back to agriculture. Even professionals have gone back to the land. Nigeria should be able to feed itself comfortably soon. I am so pleased,” the president said.

On the war against insurgency, he stressed the need for the continuous education of the people “so that they can be free from religious manipulation,” noting that no true religion advocates the hurting or killing of the innocent.

On Welby’s comment on the clashes between herdsmen and farmers in different parts of Nigeria, Buhari submitted: “The problem is even older than us. It has always been there, but now made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region.

“These gunmen were trained and armed by Muammar Gadaffi of Libya. When he was killed, the gunmen escaped with their arms. We encountered some of them fighting with Boko Haram.

“Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons. The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.”

The president lamented that “irresponsible politics” has been brought into the farmers/herders’ crisis, but noted that enduring solutions would be found, and justice done to all concerned.

On Leah Sharibu, the schoolgirl from Dapchi still being held by insurgents, reportedly because she refused to renounce her Christian faith, the president said: “We are managing the matter quietly. Making noise would not help. We are collecting as much intelligence as possible, working with the Red Cross and other international organisations. There are too many fraudulent people around, who claim they can do this and that. We won’t deal with them. That was how we got the Dapchi girls back, and the Chibok girls.”

Archbishop Welby said it was always a delight to see President Buhari, “whom I have tremendous respect for.”

“You have my best wishes on your recent decision. I read your declaration speech. We are neutral as a church, but we will pray for you. Great statesmen are those who run for the good of their country. We will be praying for you,” the cleric said.

Welby presented President Buhari with a copy of his recent book, ‘Reimagining Britain. Foundations for Hope.’

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that there will be no electronic voting in the 2019 general elections as being speculated in some quarters.

The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing after a three-day conference on “The use of technology in elections” in Abuja.

Yakubu said rather than electronic voting, the electoral umpire would deploy technology in the collation and transmission of results which he noted ensures accuracy much more than the manual method.

The chairman stressed the need for citizens’ protection during the voting, collation and transmission of results, saying with technology, elections are now in peoples hands and not easy to manipulate.

According to him, election management bodies from the west and southern African countries are willing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by technological innovations to improve the credibility of the electoral process and to enhance the sanctity of the ballot and integrity of electoral outcomes.

In doing so, Yakubu said that the application of technological innovations in the electoral process should be viewed as a facilitator rather than a “magic bullet” for the delivery of good and credible elections by adopting simple, appropriate, cost-effective and sustainable technologies.

The president of electoral commissions of southern African countries, SADC and chairperson of the electoral commission of Namibia, Notemba Tjipueja, whose country was the first in Africa to embark on electronic voting noted that the deployment of technology aids efficiency.

She explained that with the electronic voting system, no ballot boxes are used, thus reducing the tendencies of voters to interfere in any way with the voting process.

CelebritiesTuface Idibia To Contest For A Political Office by 11Ebisco(op): 7:32pm On Apr 10, 2018
Multiple music award winner, Innocent Idibia, has announced his entrant into politics.

He, however, did not reveal under which political platform and at what level he would be seeking to actualise his political aspiration.

Idibia said he was interested in affecting lives positively and would soon pick up the challenge of a political position.

“Politics affects everything I do. So, I am definitely going to be interested in politics. I will soon participate as a contestant and speak the truth at all times”, he told NAN.

“I hope and pray that good men will rise up and make a difference in this country, because we need more patriotic people in all aspects of life,” he said.

Also, Idibia called on Nigerians to come to the aid of victims of the herdsmen and farmers clashes.

“There is so much we’ve been saying about this crisis, but nothing much has come the way of the victims.

“We just need more people to support and join hands to continue extending relief materials to affected people.

“This is the most important thing we can now do; bring succour to the victims,” he said.

The musician said people need to be sensitised on safety precautions during times of crisis.

Idibia appealed to the Federal Government to do the needful by ensuring permanent solution to the crisis.

“This thing is going on for too long, repeating itself over and over. There has to be a solution, the victims are not goats they are humans and should be taken care of.

“I feel terrible not because it also happened in Benue State, where I hail from, but because it is also happening almost throughout the federation.

“It does not have to happen to someone you know before you speak up about it,” he said.

CrimeAgain, Suspected Herdsmen Kill Six In Nasarawa by 11Ebisco(op): 3:52am On Apr 10, 2018
Emmanuel Ukumba in Lafia
Six Tiv farmers were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in separate attacks on Jimin Nyaku village of Aloshi Chiefdom and Gidan Ayua in Kadarko district both in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The attack on Jimin Nyaku village was reported to have occurred at the early hours of last Saturday where a father and his son were brutally murdered by the attackers.
Similarly, four other persons were yesterday reported to have been killed at Gidan Ayua; an outskirt of Kadarko town on the Nasarawa/Benue border.

One of the villagers, Terwase Adagher, who narrowly escaped from one of the attacks, explained that the gunmen who were said to be on a reprisal mission, appeared from a nearby bush and opened fire on their victims and consequently killing four on a spot.

“We were sitting in our compound at Gidan Ayua yesterday (Sunday) at about 7p.m. when some herdsmen, armed with sophisticated weapons in their large numbers suddenly appeared from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically. I narrowly escaped by God’s grace but four of my relations were killed by the attackers,” Adagher narrated.

President of Tiv Youth Organisation in Nasarawa State, Peter Ahemba, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary unit of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
He, however, condemned the incessant attacks on members of Tiv community of the state by suspected herdsmen hence calling on the police and other security agencies to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators for the sake of justice.

Ahemba regretted that the Tiv community in Nasarawa State has lost over 87 persons in similar attacks by armed herdsmen including the destruction of property worth billions of naira between
January this year to date because of the implementation of the anti-open grazing law by the Benue State government which the Tiv people of Nasarawa State have no hand in its initiation and implementation.

“Those attacking and killing our people because of a law in Benue State are not being fair to us. We are citizens of Nasarawa state, so why killing us because of what we don’t know?,” Ahemba lamented.
But the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Idirisu Kennedy, confirmed that only three persons were killed during the attacks.

CelebritiesMarriage Is Great But Not Worth Dying For--- Omoni Oboli by 11Ebisco(op): 9:56pm On Apr 09, 2018
The producer of ‘wives on strike’ and Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli has spoken on the sudden death of singer Alizee and her four year old daughter. The death was inflicted by her Danish husband Peter Nielson who murdered them both, reacting to this incident Omoni has issued that no matter how serious the marriage is, it is not worth dying for.

The actress advised married women to stop tolerating domestic violence to stay away from such union as no marriage is worth dying for.

“ Arrrrrghhhh I’m so heartbroken! What a waste! Why the innocent baby girl as well?!!! I’m sick to my stomach!!! I decided I HAD to make #WivesOnStrikeTHEREVOLUTION because I was sick and tired of hearing about domestic violence.

I used the tool I had, my voice which is film to shed light on a very scary topic! I followed closely a case early last year and this is what I told the victim who thankfully, narrowly escaped with her life…’my dear, marriage is great I know, I’m in it but it’s not the only great thing in life. Life has plenty purpose outside of marriage. Once there’s any form of violence (and I’m speaking for both male and female) run for your life!

Forget about what people will say! You can only hear them if you are alive. Believe me, no marriage is worth dying for and nobody is indispensable! Don’t listen to society! Flee!!! If you have kids, take your kids and run!!! Do not ‘stay for the kids’! Even if you survive, they will grow up to hate you for it!

Don’t teach the next generation by your actions or inactions that domestic violence should be condoned or tolerated!’ Marriage nor be by force abeg! If you can’t stand the heat, leave the kitchen! If you can’t stand someone anymore or they offended you, leave them before you will say devil pushed you to kill them!

See my brother, my sister, run!!! We’ve gotten many messages from people who were touched by our movie and who now have the courage to speak up and seek help. Pls don’t die in silence. Talk! Shout! Cry!

I don’t know what happened in this case but if this man truly murdered this beautiful woman, his wife and his own child may God…may the law take its full course! We are watching! #justiceforalizee #EndDomesticViolence #LetLoveLead #RipAlizeeAndDaughter #StopDomesticViolence”Omoni Oboli advised.

CelebritiesActor IK Ogbonna Fires Stylist For Wearing Fake Dolce And Gabbana by 11Ebisco(op): 10:15pm On Apr 08, 2018
IK Ogbonna was highly embarrassed online recently – Mainly because he was spotted wearing a fake designer D&G shirt – Popular musician Davido even offered to help him out

As a celebrity, it is expected that one is dressed impeccably at all times. It is highly embarrassing when a celeb is caught wearing a fake item of clothing. This is exactly what happened to actor IK Ogbonna recently. The bald-headed thespian was seen wearing a fake designer shirt that had Dolce and Gabbana printed on it instead of the more recognised Dolce and Gabbana.

As a result, he was severely mocked online. He later took to his Instagram page to place the blame on his personal shopper. He further revealed that this individual got him the shirt and as a result, he has been fired.

Davido whose photo was used to point out the real thing commented on the post asking IK to holla at him. IK responded with the telephone emoji. Perhaps OBO will help IK identify real designer items from this point on.

Christianity EtcAdeboye Prays For Female Students Still Held Captive By Boko Haram by 11Ebisco(op): 6:46pm On Apr 07, 2018
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has prayed for the immediate release of all the female students currently held captive by Boko Haram insurgents.

He made this prayer at the April 2018 Holy Ghost Service and Vigil of the Church at its prayer ground in Mowe, Ogun State, on Kilometre 45 of Lagos – Ibadan Expressway, which ended on Saturday.

Recall that Boko Haram had released some of the girls abducted from Dapchi but refused to release Leah Sharibu for insisting that she would not convert to Islam.

Daddy GO, as Adeboye is fondly called, expressed gladness over the return of about 105 students of the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe, abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists in February.

“We thank God for the release of the girls and pray that all the girls yet to secure their freedom should be freed,’’ Adeboye prayed.

The cleric said he had pity for the youth whose parents were involved in evil as such evil often affected their spiritual and physical development.

The monthly programme was attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, as well as thousands of Christian faithful.

Recall that the cleric had reacted to the refusal of Boko Haram to release Sharibu, only Christian girl among school girls abducted from Government Science Technical College in Dapchi, Yobi State.

Adeboye, as at then, prayed that Jesus Christ set every kidnapper across the country on “fire now”.

After the match, Guardiola told reporters he was looking for “more passing, more control” with the inclusion of Gundogan.

CelebritiesI Hated My Body — Chika Ike Reveals by 11Ebisco(op): 7:03pm On Apr 03, 2018
Nigerian beautiful actress and super model Chika Ike who recently bagged an MBA from Harvard University has revealed the one thing that made her feel inferior while growing up.

According to her many people never liked her body and this was the main reason she was bullied by friends in school.

She said she was the tallest and skinny girl among her class mates that during her secondary educations days and this constantly made her hate morning devotion because she will be ordered to stay at the far back.

Right now, many girls are hoping and planning on how to get her body shape and texture, no wonder the bible said the stone the builder rejected turns out to be the chief cornerstone.

This is her story;

“I never liked my body growing up and was constantly bullied about it. I was so skinny and was the tallest in my class. I never looked forward to morning assembly because I’ll have to stand at the back of the class or class presentations to talk about “your best friend” because I’ll be described as the thin girl.

I can remember eating all sorts to things to gain weight but nothing worked, I really craved to have some flesh on me. I was called all sorts of names like Lepa, thin girl and Agric chicken because I was so skinny and tall. So I started modeling as soon as I graduated from secondary school because modeling agents thought I had “the look”.

Today the reverse is the case, I’m on all sorts of diet programs and exercising every other day to keep the weight I’ve always wanted in check, I feel bad after licking ice cream or eating anything with high-calorie content because ill have to suffer in the gym.

Growing up slim wasn’t cool now its cool. The truth is you have to constantly love you, you can’t be cool to everyone, the world will always have a standard of what you should be, who you should be and how you should live your life.

If you want to make changes or improvements let it not be because of pressure or people’s unconscious bias about you.Do it for you.You should hold your pen and draw your life plan… Do you… Mind your business…..Run your race. Do not let anyone define you or rush you with their timeline. We all have different stories, journeys, and different clocks. You are you and that is your power!” she wrote.

The embarrassment was too much, that it gave me strength to decide I must go back to school. I enrolled at L.A.S.U (part-time) with no support from anyone except my mum. I did so many menial jobs to cater for myself and the new baby. I fried doughnuts and Chin chin, which I supply to retailers on campus.

I sold rice outside mummy’s shop on days that I have no lectures. I sold hair extensions, make hair, ‘stay awake overnight to make hair for people (one million braid) was in vogue then. I remembered a particular day I fed my son with soaked garri! Yes, I couldn’t afford a tin of even the cheapest ‘My boy’ baby food then. I struggled, refused to beg, worked, toiled, laboured to be able to stand on my feet.

Whatever you are going through be strong, positive, hardworking, and steadfast. And No matter how poor you are, invest the little you get into something. Fast track to 2006 I joined the movie industry after my IT at The Lagos State Television Agidingbi.

Acting is another chapter in my life. I experienced mockery, intimidation. I was called different names, looked down upon, aliases like ‘Biodun oni cut and sew’ and ‘Tolani Alankara’ I could not afford the expensive cloth/costumes. I was not sophisticated enough. Dresses/dressing didn’t pave way for me neither did it stop my success.

However, my God given talent made it all possible and easy. The name people call you today doesn’t define you... be content with whatever you have. I almost quit because of intimidation but that strength of ‘I must make it’ came into play. I refused to be intimidated, bow to pressures or borrow. I was contented with my ‘cut and sew’.

Then came the trial that pushed me into becoming an entrepreneur! For two years I was ignored, no movie jobs, not because of inexperience but yet I persisted. I prayed, fasted, and believed in myself. Thereafter, I did a movie that launched me back into reckoning.” She posted.

PoliticsAmnesty For Boko Haram, A Win-win Situation – Presidency by 11Ebisco(op): 11:50am On Apr 02, 2018
The Presidency has justified a planned amnesty for members of Boko Haram who are ready to drop their arms and embrace peace.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu told State House Correspondents, at the weekend, that, in the final analysis, the amnesty option will work for Nigeria.

“It is a win-win situation,” Shehu said.

On March 23, President Muhammadu Buhari, in Aso Rock, when he received the 105 schoolgirls who were abducted from their school in Dapchi, Yobe State, and released, promised to grant amnesty to Boko Haram members who are ready to embrace peace.

“While further efforts are being made to secure the release of every abducted citizen in Nigeria, the government is ever ready to accept the unconditional laying down of arms by any member of the Boko Haram group who shows strong commitment in that regard.

“We are ready to rehabilitate and integrate such repentant members into the larger society.

“This country has suffered enough of hostility. Government is, therefore, appealing to all to embrace peace for the overall development of our people and the country,” the president said then.

Asked to react to the assertion that Buhari is shielding herdsmen from prosecution and even begging them to accept amnesty, Shehu replied: “This is an administration that has done so so extremely well and to a president, who has sworn to an oath to defend the Constitution and protect every life and property, it is unfair and uncharitable to say that he will shield anybody.

“And, in any case, the president controls only one layer of authority, what are the (state) governors doing? Is the social media also saying that the governors are protecting the herdsmen from the law, are they saying the local governments are also protecting them?

“You see, it has to take everyone at various levels of authority to shield somebody from the law in those circumstances and, the president himself, his passion is for the country, this is a president whose passion is not even for the office, even when everyone is asking him to go for a second term he is keeping quiet because his focus remains the nation and the problem of the country.

“Whoever is peddling these rumours that Boko Haram is being granted amnesty and so on, I would ask them who doesn’t want to make peace with the enemy?

“In any case, as it is proverbially said, all wars end up in the boardroom.

“You can defeat people technically in the field but, at the end, you must come to the conference room to resolve all issues.

“So, if Boko Haram would lay down their arms and stop fighting and stop preaching that negative ideology, the country should be able to embrace them, welcome all of them so that they continue to live normal lives and be useful to the nation.

“What that means is that we will be saving cost, saving lives that are being lost through bombing, killing of service personnel and we will be saving money that we are using to procure weapons so that such money can go into services and infrastructure and welfare of the citizens of this country. It is a win -win situation.”

Asked if he would advise president Buhari to run for the office in 2019, Shehu said: “Yes, I will, because he richly deserves a second term in office.”

On Buhari’s former military allies and former presidents asking him not to run, the presidential media aide replied: “My response to them is that if they like they can come and contest against president Buhari. He will defeat them, all of them.”

Shehu also reacted to reports that Buhari should not be talking about second term when people are hungry.

“With all the noise the PDP is making, even during their tenure, as president, did they give breakfast lunch and dinner to every citizen? Is there any country where someone does not go hungry? I am not saying it is perfectly in order but they are just politicising these issues.

“This is a government that has removed this country from the shame of food importation, every state of the country, now, is into rice production and we are feeding not only Nigeria but West Africa.

“And, government is working on having respectable prices for food items, food inflation is coming down grossly. Everyone complaining of hunger should go and work. And, you know that this is the only government that has introduced social investment schemes. We pay out now for the poorest of the poor, the least they will get is N5,000.

“And, a lot of these jobs that are being created are from loans; with little or no interest from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, Development Bank and the rest.

“So, there is a lot going for people who really want to go out there to work ;especially in agriculture.”

PoliticsCol. Ajayi Reveals What TY Danjuma Told Them During Military Training by 11Ebisco(op): 7:04pm On Apr 01, 2018
Col. Gabriel Adetunji Ajayi (retd.), an erstwhile colonel administration and Quarter-Master General of the Lagos Garrison, has identified the biggest problem with the Nigerian military.

Ajayi spoke to TheSun against the backdrop of recent allegation of complicity against the military by a former Minister of Defense, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.).

He said Danjuma, a former chief of army staff, had asked them to disobey him if he told them to do anything unethical during their training at the Nigerian Military School in 1978.

The ex-Defence minister recently caused an uproar when he accused the military of complicity in the killings and destruction of properties going on in some states allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.

Asked what he makes of the allegation and the call on the people to defend themselves, Ajayi said, “By the pedigree of General Danjuma, he holds the reputation of a no-nonsense man.

“He was my Chief of Army Staff. I remember vividly in 1978, he visited us while we were on a course at the Nigerian Military School of Infantry.

“And he forthrightly told us that if he, as our Chief of Army Staff asked us to do anything unethical that we should disobey him.

“So he is a very forthright person. He is not a frivolous man; he would not speak without having concrete proof and evidence. I don’t like the way Nigerian military have been behaving for quite some time now and I am not happy about it.

“They react to certain things that need not to react to. If the military is owned by Nigeria and Nigerians are complaining about certain things, all they need to do is not to defend themselves but to look at those things and carry out amendments where necessary.

“One mistake I found with the military throughout my career is that all of us believe our loyalty is to the Commander-in-Chief and not to Nigeria whereas the Commander-in-Chief himself is supposed to be loyal to Nigeria.

“The military must see itself as an agent of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and acts as such. They are not to defend themselves. The constitution is made for Nigeria; Nigeria is not made for the constitution.

“If you are saying you want to carry out your constitutional responsibility you must know that the nation is above the constitution. The nation can afford to throw away the constitution and make another one but the constitution cannot afford to do away with the nation.

“So if people of Danjuma’s pedigree are saying something as serious as that, it is not for the military to immediately reply and begin to debunk the claims.

“What they need to do is for them to look inwards and see what has gone wrong. If a former Chief of Army Staff could turn round to say his boys are partial, it is like a father telling his children that they are not doing the right thing, Danjuma is a father to the military.

“I don’t think he can be frivolous in his statement. All we need to do is to examine what he has said, see where we have gone wrong and make the necessary amendments.

“It is very unfortunate for the military to start saying that they are impartial when many senior federal government officials have said that the herdsmen are from Chad, Niger, which means they are violators of national integrity so the question of being neutral and handling them with kids ‘glove does not arise except something is hidden somewhere.

“But as far as I am concerned, I don’t like our institutions to react to criticism the way they do rather they should look into those criticisms.”

Celebrities“god Has A Tattoo On His Hand, Having A Tattoo Is Not A Sin” – Evangelist Joyce by 11Ebisco(op): 10:28pm On Mar 31, 2018
During a recent conference, American Christian speaker and evangelist Joyce Meyer made a biblical case for getting tattoos and admitted she has been thinking of getting one herself just to shut the mouths of religious people.

The video clip posted by Joyce Meyer Ministries kicked off with Meyer explaining the difference between being holy and religious.

“Holiness is not legalism,” Meyer declared.

She went on to explain that religious people have made a mess of holiness by putting a bunch of rules and regulations on people. She listed drinking, dancing, wearing makeup and more among those rules.

According to Christian Post, Meyer quoted Isaiah 44:5 in defence of getting permanent markings. The scripture says,

“One will say, I am the Lord’s; and another will call himself by the name of Jacob; and another will write [even brand or tattoo] upon his hand, I am the Lord’s, and surname himself by the [honorable] name of Israel.”

She also shared the counterargument often used to discourage believers from getting tattoos found in Leviticus 19:28: “Do not cut your bodies for the dead and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD.”

Televangelist Pat Robertson, among others, has cited Leviticus to argue that getting tattoos is a “heathen practice.”

“You look at the Bible, the people are told not to mark their bodies and cut themselves like the heathen did. Tattooing is a heathen practice, it is not a Christian practice,”Robertson said in 2016.

But Meyer rejected the argument and contended that God also tattooed those He loves to Himself.

“The Bible says in Isaiah 49 that God has a picture of you tattooed on the palm of His hand,” she maintained.

“I’m right on the verge of going and getting a tattoo,” she added, pointing to her shoulder blade. “I thought I might as well just push all the religious people right off the cliff and just get it over with.”

Meyer said her ink would say, “I belong to the Lord.” She admitted that her husband pushed back a bit on her stance but they realized it was just a religious stance stemming from legalism.

Tattoo:

A tattoo is a form of body modification where a design is made by inserting ink, dyes and pigments, either indelible or temporary, into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment. Tattoos fall into three broad categories: purely decorative (with no specific meaning); symbolic (with a specific meaning pertinent to the wearer); pictorial (a depiction of a specific person or item). Tattoos have historically been regarded in the West as ‘uncivilised’, and over the last 100 years the fashion has been associated mainly with sailors, working men and criminals. By the end of the 20th Century many Western stigmas of the tattoo culture had been dismissed and the practice has become more acceptable and accessible for people of all trades and levels of society.

More On Joyce Meyer:

Joyce Meyer (born Pauline Joyce Hutchison; June 4, 1943) is a Charismatic Christian author and speaker and president of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Meyer and her husband Dave have four grown children, and live outside St. Louis, Missouri. Her ministry is headquartered near the St. Louis suburb of Fenton, Missouri.

Meyer speaks humorously, sharing with her audience her own shortcomings and taking playful jabs at stereotypical church behavior. A particular crowd favorite is the “robot” routine, in which she goes into a stiff-armed imitation of a robot chanting “What about me? What about me?”

In 2016, Joyce Meyer’s website claimed that she had an earned Phd. She now states according to Joyce Meyer Ministries, Meyer was presented with an honorary doctoral degree from Life Christian University, an unaccredited institution in Tampa, Florida. Meyer has been given an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity by Oral Roberts University, an accredited institution in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Meyer, who owns several homes and travels in a private jet (currently a Gulfstream G-IV), has been criticized by some of her peers[who?] for living an excessive lifestyle. She responded that she doesn’t have to defend her spending habits because “…there’s no need for us to apologize for being blessed.”[11] Meyer commented, “You can be a businessman here in St. Louis, and people think the more you have, the more wonderful it is…but if you’re a preacher, then all of a sudden it becomes a problem.”

In November 2003, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch published a four-part special report detailing Meyer’s “$10 million corporate jet, her husband’s $107,000 silver-gray Mercedes sedan, her $2 million home and houses worth another $2 million for her four children,” a $20 million headquarters, furnished with “$5.7 million worth of furniture, artwork, glassware, and the latest equipment and machinery,” including a “$30,000 malachite round table, a $23,000 marble-topped antique commode, a $14,000 custom office bookcase, a $7,000 Stations of the Cross in Dresden porcelain, a $6,300 eagle sculpture on a pedestal, another eagle made of silver bought for $5,000, and numerous paintings purchased for $1,000 to $4,000 each,” among many other expensive items – all paid for by the ministry. The articles prompted Wall Watchers (a Christian nonprofit watchdog group) to call on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to investigate Meyer and her family.

Following the adverse publicity about her lifestyle and Ministry Watch’s request for an IRS probe, Meyer announced in 2004 plans to take a salary reduction from the $900,000 per year she had been receiving from Joyce Meyer Ministries (in addition to the $450,000 her husband received) and instead personally keep more of the royalties from her outside book sales which Meyer had previously donated back to Joyce Meyer Ministries. She now retains royalties on books sold outside the ministry through retail outlets such as Walmart, Amazon.com, and bookstores, while continuing to donate to her ministry royalties from books sold through her conferences, catalogues, website, and television program. “The net effect of all of this,” notes Ministry Watch, “was most likely a sizable increase in the personal compensation of Joyce Meyer and reduced revenues for JMM.” In an article in the St. Louis Business Journal, Meyer’s public relations director, Mark Sutherland, confirmed that her new income would be “way above” her previous levels. Joyce Meyer Ministries says it has made a commitment to maintain transparency in financial dealings, publish their annual reports, have a Board majority who are not Meyer relatives and submit to a voluntary annual audit. On December 18, 2008, this ministry received a “C” grade (71–80 score) for financial transparency from Ministry Watch.

Joyce Meyer Ministries was one of six investigated by the United States Senate inquiry into the tax-exempt status of religious organizations by Senator Chuck Grassley. The inquiry sought to determine if Meyer made any personal profit from financial donations, asking for a detailed accounting for such things as cosmetic surgery and foreign bank accounts and citing such expenses as the $23,000 commode mentioned earlier. Grassley also requested that Meyer’s ministry make the information available by December 6, 2007. In her November 29 response to Grassley, Meyer notes that the commode is a chest of drawers. Meyer writes that it was part of a large lot of items totaling $262,000 that were needed to furnish the ministry’s 150,000-square-foot (14,000 m2) headquarters purchased in 2001. She said the commode’s price tag was an “errant value” assigned by the selling agent and apologized for “not paying close attention to specific ‘assigned values’ placed on the pieces.” Joyce Meyer Ministries responded with a newsletter to its e-mail list subscribers on November 9, 2007. CelebritiesCossy Orjiakor Challenge Apostle Suleman, Daniella Okeke And Iyabo Ojo To Sue He by 11Ebisco(op): 7:07pm On Mar 31, 2018
Nigerian Nollywood actress Cossy Ojiakor is mostly popular for her body and fat behind she possess. The actress is angered and from the look of things she is like a wounded lion, which will not let go until she feels accomplished.

Cossy Orjiakor had before now threatened to expose a popular Nigerian pastor’s alleged affair with two Nollywood actresses last year, well she seems set to do just that now.

She claimed that she pimped several actresses to a pastor. Which one of the actresses boycotted her to become the pastor’s main love-vendor and as a result she was no more enjoying the pleasure of being the main love-vendor.

She revealed that, the pastor did not fulfill his promise of buying her a Range Rover but went on to lavish new found love-vendor with new cars and houses.

She vowed to expose him last Easter if he didn’t fulfill his promise and if controversial journalist,Kemi Olunloyo was not released.

Obviously, the conditions were not met, hence her decision to start spill. Posting photos of all three, she wrote;

I dislike a lot of people…. and Daniella Okeke happens to be one of them … Hahahaha sue me.

I dislike a lot of people … Iyabo Ojo just happens to be one of them …. Hahahha sue me

I dislike a lot of people…. Frienermies….. This Pastor just happens to be one of them……… Hahahha sue me.

If you recall, the journalist was arrested for writing a story alleging there was an affair between actress, Iyabo Ojo and Pastor Ibiyoemi. After Kemi’s encounter in the Port Harcourt maximum prison, she decided to abandon investigative journalism for opinion journalism.

CelebritiesNigerian Movie Producer Sank Whopping N10m On Late 'aguiyi Ironsi' by 11Ebisco(op): 11:59am On Mar 31, 2018
In a bid to make a notable difference in the Nigerian movie industry, Prince Iyke Olisa of Prime World Production has sank in whopping N10m to produce his latest movie, Aguiyi Ironsi.

The epic movie which parades top veteran actors Sam Dede and Kanyo O Kanayo bears the iconic name of the late Senior Nigerian Military officer, Johnson Aguiyi Ironsi, who died in 1966, but has a different story-line.

According to what the University of California, USA trained filmaker told GPM , the movie, Aguiyi Ironsi is centered on betrayal of trust and the nemesis that follows.

''The movie is lesson filled. It strongly buttresses on contentment and patience. What will be yours definitely will be in your hands, no matter how long it took. Then, there are also rewards for every evil one do in life, nemesis must come hunting those who betrayal the trust of another. Sam Dede as we all know is not consistent in Nollywood again. But I had to bring him back because he fits into the movie perfectly," he hinted.

While speaking on how long it took the cast and crew to shoot the Epic Action movie which comes in 8 sequels, Mr. Olisa said: "That is the huge difference between Hollywood and Nollywood. We don't waste time on our movies. It took me approximately 3 weeks to shoot 'Aguyi Ironsi' and every one went their separate ways."

PoliticsOkorocha Running For Third Term In Office Through Son-in-law – Archbishop Obinna by 11Ebisco(op): 7:11pm On Mar 29, 2018
The Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Dr. Anthony J V Obinna, has accused the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, of running for third term in office through his son-in-law.

The cleric said there was no peace in Imo State because of high level injustice and inequity by the state government.

Obinna, who said this while fielding questions from reporters yesterday at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, reasoned that “there cannot be true peace in the face of glaring injustice and inequity in Imo State and Nigeria.

“Things are so bad in Imo State that even when any group has police permit to stage a peaceful rally or protest, the government of the day will use coercion and brute force to deny them this fundamental right.”

Answering a question on the Imo Charter of Equity, the cleric said, “Equity is a concept for justice.

“Although it was not my brainchild, since it was fashioned out to engineer peace and justice in the state, I support it.

“Equity demands that the senatorial zones should take their turns on the governorship seat.”

According to the Archbishop, he has “no special hatred for Governor Rochas Okorocha”, adding that “it was most uncharitable for the governor to attempt doing a third term through his son in-law, Uche Nwosu.”

PoliticsLagos Judiciary Releases New Sentencing Guideline by 11Ebisco(op): 10:29am On Mar 29, 2018
The Lagos State, Judiciary Wednesday launched a new sentencing guideline for the courts in the state.

The sentencing guideline for magistrates and high court judges was signed by the Chief Judge as part of justice sector reform in the state.

The new guideline had been enacted to ensure uniformity in sentence and fines imposed for certain offences by magistrates in particular and to forestall prison congestion.

Addressing the inaugural meeting of Justice Sector Reform Committee Wednesday, Justice Opeyemi Oke pointed out that the vision of the Lagos State Judiciary under the present administration was to make speedy dispensation of justice a hallmark of the judiciary and to improve on its reputation as a pacesetter.

The CJ noted that this could only be achieved through inter agency collaboration and cooperation of stakeholders.

She disclosed that a committee has also been set up to proffer practice direction for the use of the Administration of Criminal Law of Lagos State for the purpose of making the law more explicit for judges, magistrates and prosecutors.

She said the committee, besides interventions in the pipeline, would evaluate initiatives such as adopting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in criminal trials, increased use of plea bargain to drastically reduce the number of inmates awaiting trial, front loading of evidence and restorative justice.

Oke emphasised the importance of an effective criminal justice system to the smooth running of the society saying that it was fundamental to the maintenance of law and order.

She said “any society with a sound criminal justice system enjoys rapid economic growth.

“Going forward, the Lagos State government is working towards building a citizen-centric criminal justice system for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective justice delivery,” she said.

Adeniji Kazeem, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, explained that the essence of the inter-agency meeting was to ensure that they discuss periodically the challenges facing the criminal justice system.

PoliticsPolice Declaring Melaye Wanted Is Unlawful — Lawyers by 11Ebisco(op): 9:11am On Mar 29, 2018
Lagos / Abuja / Lokoja – The Kogi State command of the Nigeria police on Wednesday declared Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, wanted after suspects who accused Melaye of supplying arms to them escaped from police custody.

However, lawyers, who spoke to Mc Ebisco, on Wednesday said the police acted unlawfully and with impunity in declaring Melaye wanted.

According to them, there are conditions precedent which ought to be satisfied before the police can declare anybody wanted.

In the face of recent developments, those conditions were not satisfied before the police declared Melaye wanted, the lawyers maintained, adding on that score that “Melaye can sue them.”

According to the National Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Adesina Adegbite, the police orchestrated the drama, saying, “Basically right from the beginning of the whole drama, any sensible person will know that something was fishy somewhere.”

He maintained that the illegality of the police action is borne out of the fact that Melaye had earlier been in court physically with the police over allegation that he furnished them with false information.

Besides, he is a sitting senator of the Federal Republic.

“It is absolutely illegal and unlawful for the police to declare someone as wanted when they are in communication with him,” he said.

“He had even submitted to court summons involving him and the police.

“You can only declare wanted someone you cannot find; whose abode or place of work you cannot locate; or probably he’s out of the country or had become untraceable over a period.

“But Dino is a serving senator of the Federal Republic. How do you declare such a person wanted?

“This is someone that was seen in the National Assembly just last week.”

He added, “Going to the extent of declaring him wanted is not just unlawful, it is an abnormality. It should be condemned by every well-meaning Nigerian.”

With respect to the Wednesday escape from police custody of the suspected armed robbers, who had alleged that Melaye was their sponsor, Adegbite said it is not enough for the IGP to order their relieve from duty, saying they should be charged to court.

“That is a story which the police must explain as to how it came about, because this is a station we were told is thoroughly secured in Lokoja,” he said.

“Then all the officers in that station, rank and file, should be in detention by now. Somebody must tell us were the escaped suspects are.

“Those under whose watch they were kept must be sanctioned properly not by newspaper announcement or press release.

“They must be seen to have been properly prosecuted for criminal negligence and conspiracy.”

Legal practitioner and President of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Aka Ikenga, Chief Goddy Uwazuruike, equally maintained that there is a recent court decision ruling against the police whimsically declaring somebody wanted.

He said, “I know that there is a recent court decision to that effect. There are some conditions precedent that must be satisfied before you can exercise some powers like declaring someone wanted.

“And I say that with all sense of honesty, zeroing down to Dino’s case.”

He chided the police, saying they are engaged in a comedy of errors over the senator’s case. “The police is actually doing what I will call the comedy of errors,” he said.

He explained that the bottom has been knocked off the case against Melaye, because those alleging his complicity in crime have escaped.

“The link to Dino Melaye is XYZ (the suspected armed robbers). But today that link to Melaye escaped on the eve of their arraignment in court. So the court has no record of the case,” he said.

“Yet you declared him wanted on the strength of the information provided by the escapee suspects against him. Do you understand the irony?

“An escaped suspect named him. So the link is no more there. And that is the mistake most of the security agencies make.

“If there is no direct link to that man, then you cannot charge him to court. If there is no person pointing at him in the presence of the man, the law, the police and the court, then there is nothing to do.”

He stressed that the development was targeted at bringing the senator down politically.

“So it is just another comedy of errors tied to the process of his recall, with a specific aim of making sure he is not re-elected, and with the specific aim of discouraging him, because the police know that if you charge a man with armed robbery, with rape and murder, the man might as well kiss his political career good bye,” he explained.

For senior lawyer, Malam Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN), what is playing out between the police and Melaye is all drama, orchestrated and exasperating.

“Let us see the way the drama would unfold and then we will know what to say,” he said with resignation.

It would be recalled that Ali Janga, former Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, had declared Dino Melaye wanted.

Janga said two suspects, Kabiru Seidu alias Osama and Nuhu Salisu alias Small, who accused Melaye of supplying arms to them, escaped from custody.

He said they fled from a police division in Lokoja where they were being kept in “lawful custody”.

According to him, four other suspects escaped along with Seidu and Salisu, bringing the total number of fleeing suspects to six.

He said 13 policemen comprising five operatives of special anti-robbery squad (SARS) and eight conventional policemen on duty when the incident happened had been detained for interrogation.

IGP Orders Immediate Removal Of Commissioner Of Police In Kogi

Ibrahim Idris, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has ordered the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police in Kogi, Ali Janga.

A statement by the Force Spokesman, ACP Jimoh Moshood, issued in Abuja on Wednesday, said the removal followed the escape from custody of two principal suspects and four others whose confession allegedly indicted Senator Dino Melaye.

The suspects are Kabiru Seidu, a.k.a Osama; Nuhu Salisu, a.ka Small; Aliyu Isa, Adams Sulieman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohaamed.

Moshood said that the IGP had directed CP Esa Ogbu, the commissioner in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters, to take over as the new Commissioner of Police in Kogi.

The spokesman said that 13 police officers involved in the escape of the suspects had been detained.

He said that the Commander in charge of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in the state, the DPO of A Division, Lokoja, and other officers implicated in the escape had been transferred out of the state.

The suspects were to appear on Wednesday at the Federal High Court, Lokoja, in a case of conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.

The suspects had implicated Melaye and Mohammed Audu during their confessions.

Senate Gives IGP 48 Hours To Produce Fleeing Suspects

Meanwhile, the Senate on Wednesday gave the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to as a matter of urgency produce the fleeing suspects within 48 hours.

This came after Melaye narrated his ordeal to the upper legislative chamber.

“Mr. President we were all supposed to appear before the Lokoja High Court this morning. My lawyers were in court at 9a.m and the case was called up and the prosecutor of the Nigerian police could not produce the two persons.

“Instead of producing the two persons, they asked the judge to issue bench warrant for my arrest. But the judge refused to grant their prayers. The judge said despite the fact that I have not been served I sent representation to the court. And the main accused persons are absent in court”, Melaye said.

Continuing, he said, “Rumours have it that this people were moved from detention, and rumours have it that they may have been killed because yesterday two international organisations were in Kogi based on my petition to find out what is happening.

“Surprisingly these two people have now been declared escapees. Mr. President, I want to use the opportunity and on the principle of justice to call on the Inspector-General of Police that within 48 hours he must produce these accused persons because they are presumed innocent until proven guilty, they also have right to life.

“So police must as a matter urgency produce these two accused persons. Failure to do so I will sue the IGP for mental assault. Nigeria is not a banana republic”, he said.

The Senate, therefore, directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to as a matter of urgency produce the suspects within 48 hours.

PoliticsBlackmail Will Not Stop Our Constituency Projects — Dogara by 11Ebisco(op): 8:00am On Mar 28, 2018
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said yesterday that no amount of blackmail from any quarters will force the National Assembly to abandon “zonal intervention” also known as constituency projects.

Speaking during a public hearing on the 2018 budget organized by the joint committee of the Senate and House on Appropriation, he described the zonal intervention projects as a tool to ensure equity in project allocation and distribution in the country.

“Over the years, the efforts of legislators, especially at the National Assembly to inject equity in budget patronage nationwide, through the instrumentality of zonal intervention projects, has been grossly misunderstood and terribly maligned mostly by those who are deliberately ignorant and have concocted their own concept of constituency projects which they apply as their yardstick of measurement.

“I make bold to state that, but for zonal intervention projects, many communities in Nigeria would never have enjoyed any form of Federal Government patronage. Put differently, zonal intervention projects represent the only evidence of Federal Government presence in most rural communities of Nigeria.

“Consequently, as representatives of the people, no amount of blackmail from any quarters will force us to abandon our resolve to ensure even development across all federal constituencies,” he said.

He appealed to stakeholders to pay greater attention to the implementation of approved budgets and not the size, saying only effective budget implementation determined its quality.

“As representatives of the people, legislators are constantly in touch with their constituents and are therefore in a position to appreciate their peculiar priority needs which they can then articulate in the budget,” he said.

He urged stakeholders to work assiduously toward, not only ensuring an equitable collection of figures but more so, the full realization of those expressed values and aspirations through efficient and effective budget implementation.

CelebritiesI Will Date And Marry A Younger Man Again Says Shan George by 11Ebisco(op): 7:10pm On Mar 27, 2018
Nigerian Nollywood veteran actress Shan George who is also doubles as a movie director has hinted on the possibility of her taking a younger man as her husband or even dating.

In the past, the actress was rumored to be going out with younger boy and she never spoke against this as she said she has no time in trying to persuade people change their thought about her.

Well according to her she was always spotted with her grown up male children whom they all believed she was dating.

Speaking in an interview, Shan George was asked if she would in any way date a younger man and she asked if the interviewer needed a yes or no, when the interviewer affirmed to this she said she definitely would do it.

The interviewer asked her ‘Can you date a younger person or marry a younger person?’ You want me to say a yes or a no? Shan George answered. If you can do that, it’ll be okay

“Yes, I will because I’m someone who believes that age is not about maturity. You can be old and you’re stupid old man. If I get the opportunity of meeting a younger man than I am – even if he is six months younger than you, he is still a younger man – who is mature-minded, it’s still better than an old foolish man as far as I’m concerned.” Shan George responded.

She also hinted that she may give marriage another trial although she is not very certain as marriage is a spiritual establishment made by God.
