Christiane Amanpour

Christiane Amanpour is CNN’s chief international correspondent and anchor of Amanpour, a nightly foreign affairs program on CNN International, starting in April 2012. In addition, she is the global affairs anchor for ABC News, providing international analysis of important issues of the day for ABC News programs and platforms, and anchoring primetime documentaries on international subjects. Previously, she also anchored the ABC News program This Week. She is based in New York.

Amanpour graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Becky Anderson
Becky Anderson is one of CNN International's highest profile anchors. She hosts the network's flagship news & current affairs programme, 'Connect the World', which airs weekdays in the prime-time EMEA line-up at 9pmGMT.

Becky has extensive business journalism experience including posts with the UK’s ITN, CNBC Europe and Bloomberg. She began her career in journalism as a print reporter with various business publications in Arizona, after gaining a Master of Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in 1992. She gained her BA (Hons) in Economics at Sussex University in the UK. She was born and lives in Britain.


Jim Clancy
Jim Clancy brings the experience of more than three decades covering the world to every newscast on CNN International. He didn't just read about the collapse of Communism, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the siege of Beirut, the Rwanda Genocide, or all of the Iraq wars. He was there.

His career includes reporting on the events that have shaped history over the last quarter century. His interviews with international personalities reads like a "Who's Who" of our times.

Based at CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta, Clancy currently anchors the weekly show, 'The Brief'.

Jim Clancy joined CNN in 1981 as a national correspondent after an extensive, award-winning career in local radio and television in Denver and San Francisco


Jonathan Mann
Jonathan Mann is an anchor and correspondent for CNN International. Based in the network's Atlanta headquarters, Mann has nearly 30 years experience in print, radio and television journalism.

He is a leading member of CNNI's team covering the 2012 U.S. presidential election, drawing on his years as host of The Campaign Trail and Political Mann. He writes a weekly column about U.S. politics for CNN.com, which is distributed to publications and websites around the world

Before coming to CNN, Mann was a writer for United Press International (UPI) and The Montreal Gazette. He also worked for CBC Radio and NBC Radio. A native of Montreal, Canada, Mann received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from York University in Toronto, Canada.

Richard Quest
Richard Quest is CNN's foremost international business correspondent and presenter of Quest Means Business; the definitive word on how we earn and spend our money. He is one of the most instantly recognisable members of the CNN team.

His coverage of breaking news, which has spanned two decades, has seen him report on a range of stories from, the death of Yasser Arafat, the Lockerbie Pan Am 103 crash to the death of Michael Jackson. Quest is more than just business; there are few journalists who have had guests as varied, from His Holiness, The Dalai Lama to actress Joan Collins to founder of Playboy Magazine, Hugh Heffner.

Prior to joining CNN he worked at the BBC, where he was the North America business correspondent, based on Wall Street for 12 years.

Quest is British, holds an LLB (Hons) degree in Law from Leeds University, and was called to the Bar.

Hala Gorani
Hala Gorani is an anchor and correspondent for CNN International and is based at the network's headquarters in Atlanta.

She anchors the 1300ET/1900CET edition of 'International Desk', the weekday program that brings viewers into the heart of CNN’s newsgathering operation and immerses them in the latest stories of the day.

Gorani earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. and graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris in 1995. Gorani was born in Seattle and raised in Paris, France.

She speaks English, French and Arabic.


Max Foster
Max Foster is a CNN International anchor and CNN’s Royal Correspondent.

Foster joined the network in 2005 and one of his first assignments was to front special coverage around the failing health of Pope John Paul II. He went on to co-host CNN Today with Monita Rajpal and now anchors across the primetime shows, Connect the World and Quest Means Business

After the royal wedding, Foster was appointed Royal Correspondent and he followed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their first overseas tour to North America. He continues to report on royal stories across all CNN’s networks

Foster has a degree in Business Administration from Cardiff University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Highbury College, Portsmouth. He lives lives in the Berkshire countryside with his wife and three young children.

Michael Holmes
Michael Holmes is an award-winning anchor and correspondent for CNN International, based at the network’s headquarters in Atlanta.

Holmes, who has been in journalism for more than three decades, anchors the 1000ET/1600CET edition of ‘International Desk’, the weekday news program that covers the major stories of the day with an emphasis on live, up-to-the-minute reports from CNN correspondents all over the world.

After working in newspapers for nearly five years, he began his television career in 1982 with the Nine Network in Perth. He also has worked for several British media outlets, including WTN, The Observer newspaper and TV-AM.

He began his career at the age of 17, as a cub reporter with the Daily News, an afternoon newspaper in Perth.

Isha Sesay
Isha Sesay, anchor on CNN International, and contributor to CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 joined HLN’s new nightly news program Evening Express (5-7 p.m. ET) upon its launch on June 4, 2012. On this program, Sesay works with host Ryan Smith and colleague Clark Howard to provide an energetic, inspirational and solutions-oriented look at the day’s news, with reporting on stories and issues that resonate in the American household. She is based at the network’s global headquarters in Atlanta.

Sesay also anchors CNN NewsCenter, CNNI’s new half-hour news program, broadcast live weekdays from CNN’s newsroom, that takes viewers through the day’s big stories of global importance.

During the week Sesay also provides news updates for CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°, which is simulcast on CNNI.

Sesay joined CNN in November 2005 from the UK broadcaster ITN, where she anchored ITV’s Early Morning News program, as well news bulletins for the UK’s most watched breakfast program ‘GMTV.’

Prior to this, she spent more than three years presenting ‘Good Morning Sports Fans’ for Sky Sports. From 1998-2001, Sesay presented a wide range of programs across the BBC networks.

A Briton of Sierra Leonean parentage, she holds a BA honors English degree from Trinity College, Cambridge University


Zain Verjee
Zain Verjee is the anchor for CNN’s World One, airing 1000GMT weekdays, and is based in the network's London bureau.

Prior to this, Verjee anchored CNN’s World Report, and also a special monthly programme i-List, visiting a different country each month looking towards its future, highlighting innovation and influence in business, industry, culture and more.

Verjee's journalistic efforts extend beyond the broadcast realm. She recently published Live and On the Air, a children's book exploring the experiences of a young girl who moves from rural Kenya to Nairobi to work as a broadcaster. Verjee also has produced successful radio campaigns spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS, road safety and violence against women. Her community efforts include work with Street Children and with Operation Smile.

Verjee received her undergraduate degree in English from McGill University in Montreal and studied at York University in Canada. She speaks Gujarati, Kiswahili and conversational French.




Rosemary Church
Rosemary Church is an anchor for CNN International's 'World Report.' Based at the network's headquarters in Atlanta, Church has been with CNNI since 1998.

In this role, she has anchored major world events such as the September 11th terrorist attacks against the United States; the war on terrorism in Afghanistan and most recently, the war on Iraq. She also has anchored during the NATO air strikes over Yugoslavia; the fall of former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic; the Palestinian militant ceasefire and Israeli troop withdrawal from northern Gaza and during East Timor's struggle for independence.

Church won the New York Festival's TV programming award for coverage of the Hong Kong Handover to China in 1997 (Silver).

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Church has lived in England and various parts of Australia. She has a bachelor of arts degree from the Australian National University in Canberra and has completed graduate studies in media and law.

Colleen McEdwards
Colleen McEdwards is an anchor for CNN International. Based at CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta, she anchors various editions of World Report.

With more than 20 years of experience in covering world news and global business news, she has previously anchored editions of World Business Today, Your World Today, and has been a key member of CNNI’s political and election coverage over many years.

She studied Russian in St. Petersburg and honed her French conversational skills while living in Canada and Europe. She is a duel United States/Canadian citizen, a former competitive athlete and an avid sports fan.

McEdwards is a published author of short fiction and poetry. She has an Honors degree in English Literature from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and received the University's Alumni Achievement award in 1999.

Mark McKay
Mark McKay is a sport anchor and correspondent for CNN International. He anchors 'World Sport,' CNNI's global sports wrap-up show, and is based at the network's world headquarters in Atlanta.

During his career McKay has interviewed luminaries like Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Manny Pacquiao, Barry Bonds, Cal Ripken Jr., NASCAR's Richard Petty, and track and field stars Michael Johnson and Marion Jones.

Before joining CNN, McKay anchored and reported sports for WECT-TV in Wilmington, N.C. McKay's television career began at the age of 19 by holding down the dual jobs of sports director, anchor, and reporter at WKFT-TV in Fayetteville, N.C.

Prior to television, he worked as a radio disc jockey at WFLB-AM in Fayetteville, N.C where McKay graduated from Terry Sanford Senior High School.

Patrick Snell
Patrick Snell is a sport anchor and correspondent for CNN International. He is based at CNN's world headquarters in Atlanta, where he covers the major sporting news and events for CNN's international and domestic programming.

Over the course of the last decade, Snell has covered a number of major sporting events for CNN including the 2010 ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies; the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany; the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan; the 2001 French Open at Roland Garros; and the 2000 European Football Championships in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Before joining CNN in July 2000, Snell had nine years of experience as a sports and news reporter and anchor for Granada Television in Manchester and Radio City Liverpool in the UK.

Born in Southport, England, Snell earned a degree in Media Journalism from Darlington College of Technology in North East England and a languages degree at the University of Liverpool. He is fluent in French and Spanish


Pedro Pinto
Pedro Pinto is a sports anchor for CNN International, based in London covering sport across the European continent.

Pinto rejoined CNN in December 2006, having previously been a member of CNN’s international sports reporting team in Atlanta for five and half years.

Pinto first gained sports writing experience while attending the University of North Carolina (UNC), Charlotte, where he was the senior sports writer for the University Times. He obtained a bachelors degree in communications and marketing from UNC and then enrolled in the Carolina School of Broadcasting, a one-year intensive broadcasting programme. At UNC, Pinto was honoured with the University Times award for writer of the year in 1993 and was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society in 1995.


Alex Thomas
Alex Thomas is a sports correspondent and anchor with CNN International, working out of the company’s London office.

Since joining CNN in April 2009, Alex has covered a wide range of sports for the “World Sport” show and CNNI’s news and business programmes.


At his previous companies, he reported from the 2006 football World Cup, 2006/7 Ashes cricket series in Australia, 2007 rugby World Cup, 2007 & 2008 Champions League Finals in Athens and Moscow and the 2008 Sumer Olympics in Beijing.

Alex started his broadcasting career in radio, in 1992, while studying sociology at the University of Warwick.

Errol Barnett
Errol Barnett is an anchor and correspondent for CNN International.

Since January 2012, he has hosted the award-winning 'Inside Africa.' With Barnett at the helm, the show now travels to every corner of the continent to experience local challenges, meet outstanding people and explore what makes each place unique. As a general assignment correspondent based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Barnett also contributes to CNN’s emerging markets show 'Global Exchange' as well as 'African Voices' and 'CNN Marketplace Africa'.

Born in Milton Keynes, England, Barnett is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science with a focus on international relations from University of California, Los Angeles in 2008.


John Defterios
John Defterios is CNN's Emerging Markets Editor and anchor of Global Exchange, CNN’s new prime time business show focused on the emerging and BRIC markets.

John has also been the anchor of ‘CNN Marketplace Middle East’, since 2007, a weekly business programme featuring in-depth analysis and top newsmakers from across the Middle East.

Prior to CNN, Defterios worked for Reuters Television as European Correspondent, West Coast Correspondent and special series producer in a joint-venture with The Nightly Business Report on PBS-TV.

He graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Journalism and Political Economics.


Pauline Chiou
Pauline Chiou is an award-winning anchor and correspondent for CNN International based at the network’s Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Hong Kong. Each weekday she co-hosts CNN’s live business program ‘World Business Today’ produced out of Hong Kong, London and New York.

Chiou received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Yale University and a Master of Science in Journalism from Medill School of Journalism. In 2008 she was awarded the Don T. Sheehan International fellowship to attend the annual Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists. Early in her journalism career, she won an Associated Press Award for Feature Reporting for a special series on the Massachusetts National Guard’s peacekeeping missions in Bosnia.

Nina Dos Santos
Nina dos Santos is the London anchor on CNN’s World Business Today.

Aside from her presenting duties, Nina also undertakes correspondent work.

In 2011 she was part of CNN’s team covering the British Royal Wedding and reported extensively on the Euro zone crisis from Brussels, Paris and Rome.

Dos Santos holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from Imperial College London and a Masters degree in Economics. She is a native speaker of English, French and Italian, and also speaks German and Portuguese.

Before returning to London in 2005, Dos Santos lived and worked in Italy for four years as a correspondent.



Maggie Lake
Maggie Lake is a business anchor and correspondent for CNN International. She is based out of the network's New York bureau.

Having joined CNN in January 2001, Lake anchors 'World Business Today' and provides daily in-depth market coverage for 'Quest Means Business' and many other CNN International programs.

Before joining CNN, Lake worked for eight years at the news agency Reuters. In various reporting roles for Reuters Television in New York she provided coverage of U-S bond, stock and currency markets; interviewed Fortune 500 CEO's and reported on the 1998 global financial crisis. Moving to London in 1999, Lake anchored programs covering top business stories from around the world, including interviews with finance ministers and leading policy officials. Lastly, she served a senior reporter on the print side for Reuters in New York.

Lake holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston University.

Asieh Namdar
Asieh Namdar is senior writer for HLN and serves as an anchor for CNN International. Namdar also provides reports and analysis of international news on CNN/U.S.

Previously, Namdar anchored, wrote and produced a daily segment on HLN called "The Global Minute," which provided quick updates on news and features from around the world. Namdar also has served as a host for CNN World Report on CNN International. She joined CNN in 1989 and is based in the network's world headquarters in Atlanta.

Namdar began her career at CNN as a video journalist after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, where she earned a bachelor's degree in communications.

Shane O'Donoghue
Shane O’Donoghue joined CNN in 2011 as the host of monthly programme, ‘Living Golf’.

Hailing from Tipperary in Ireland, O’Donoghue worked as a presenter and commentator for the national broadcaster RTE for fifteen years.

From 2004-2010, he was part of the BBC TV Golf Commentary team, reporting, commentating and interviewing at key events such as The Masters, Open Championships, BMW PGA Championships, Barclays Scottish Open Championships in addition to the Ryder and Walker Cups.

As a TV commentator he has worked with European Tour Productions “World Feed” at a variety of European Tour events since 2005 and several Ladies European Tour events for Ark Productions

Monita Rajpal
Monita Rajpal is an anchor and correspondent based at CNN’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.

Previously, Rajpal was co-anchor of CNN’s ‘World 1’ based in London, and the presenter of the network’s monthly art and culture show ‘icon’ where she interviewed innovators and influencers as diverse as IM Pei, Quincy Jones, David Bailey and Philippe Starck and travelled to St Petersburg Russia, Montreaux, Venice and Paris. Rajpal also formally hosted ‘Art of Life’ on CNN, a luxury lifestyle feature programme.


Rajpal joined CNN from Citytv in Toronto, where she was a general assignment reporter and anchor. As a Citytv reporter, Rajpal covered various stories for the channel's prime-time nightly news including: federal elections, education strikes, municipal politics and the city's homeless population. In addition to her work at Citytv, Rajpal anchored the prime-time news show at Cable Pulse 24, Citytv's 24-hour news channel.

She was born in Hong Kong and spent much of her childhood there, before moving to Canada. In addition to English, she speaks conversational Cantonese, French and Punjabi.


Shirley Robertson
Shirley Robertson presents CNN International’s half-hour feature programme Main Sail, a show entirely dedicated to the leisure, travel, technology and business aspects of sailing. She is based out of London.

Robertson made history in Athens by becoming the first British woman to ever win two Gold medals at successive Olympic Games.

Since the Athens Olympics in 2004, Robertson played a major role in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012 by acting as a key ambassador and athlete delegate in Singapore.

In 2005 Robertson turned her attention away from the Olympic arena to steer a big boat as helm of ‘Patches’, an Irish TP52 skippered by her Athens coach Ian Walker.

Before joining CNN, Robertson had a regular segment presenting sailing on BBC South TV. She has also hosted BBC Scotland’s Sports Saturday programme, standing in for John Beattie, and presented on BBC Grandstand.

Don Riddell
Don Riddell is an anchor and correspondent for ‘World Sport’, hosting the show from CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta.

He is one of the network’s most versatile anchors, having also presented the news programs ‘World News’ and ‘CNN Today’ as well as the long-running feature show ‘Living Golf’.

In 1998, Riddell was invited to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace, having been identified as one of the nation’s young achievers by the Independent Television Commission.

He has run both the London and New York Marathons.

Riddell has a Bachelors degree with honours in Public Media/Communication and Cultural Studies from Leeds University.

Nic Robertson
Nic Robertson, is an award-winning CNN Senior International Correspondent, whose experience, knowledge and expertise have established his reputation as one of the finest international correspondents in the industry. Based in the London bureau, he travels extensively, covering global terrorism, wars, armed conflicts and a range of other major news events. Since joining CNN in 1990, he has been on some of the biggest news stories around the world.

Earlier in his career, as a producer, he covered the violent breakup of the former Yugoslavia, as well as reporting from Baghdad during the first Gulf War in Iraq in 1991.

Robertson has won other numerous awards, including two Overseas Press Club Awards, another Peabody (2002), a duPont Award (2001) and several Emmys for his work in war zones and disaster areas around the world, including Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Rwanda, Somalia, the Darfur region of Sudan, Northern Ireland and both the Gulf War and the Iraq War and all over the Middle East. On a lighter note, People magazine voted him Sexiest News Correspondent in 2001

Kristie Lu Stout
Kristie Lu Stout is an award-winning anchor/correspondent for CNN International, based in Hong Kong. She is the host of the nightly news program 'News Stream' and CNN's new monthly show 'On China'

'News Stream' is a one hour news program powered by the smart use of technology to give viewers a better understanding of the world. It airs each weekday at 9pm in Hong Kong,1pm in London and 8am in New York. 'On China' is a 30 minute monthly show providing viewers with an intelligent look at China from inside the country itself.

Stout is American of Chinese and European descent. She holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Stanford University, and studied advanced Mandarin Chinese at Beijing's Tsinghua University.

Ralitsa Vassileva
Ralitsa Vassileva is an anchor for CNN International. Based at the network's global headquarters in Atlanta, she anchors ‘World Report’.

Since she assumed her duties at CNN International in 1992, Vassileva has anchored coverage of many major international news stories including the Chilean miner rescue, the Iran student protests and Israel’s Gaza offensive. In addition to her anchoring duties, Vassileva has reported in the field from places like Moscow, Jerusalem and the United Nations. She has also done long-form documentaries like the half hour special on the 20th anniversary of the fall of Communism in her native Bulgaria.

Vassileva was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and was educated at English language schools in Sofia and New Delhi, India. She has an MA in English Language and Literature from Sofia University. She recently acquired an MA in Political Science from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

In 2001, the American University in Bulgaria awarded Vassileva an honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters for her contributions to journalism.

Fionnuala Sweeney
Fionnuala Sweeney is an anchor and correspondent for CNN International, based at the network's headquarters in Atlanta.

Sweeney, who was previously based in London, has reported on major news events from around Europe and the Middle East. This year she's reported from Cairo, Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi as part of the network's coverage of the unrest in Egypt and the Middle East.

Sweeney joined CNN from RTE in Ireland where she worked as a radio and television news reporter and newscaster from 1988 to 1993. In 1993, she was selected to present the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of RTE, broadcast live to 350 million people in three languages.

A native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Sweeney has a higher diploma in Education and a bachelor degree in English and History from the University College, Dublin.
