I'm forced to ask, WHY DO NIGERIANS AND THEIR GOVT LOATHE THE POOR AMONG THEM??

In terms of housing,what is the Lagos state govt doing for the poor?? Or the only thing on the table is to DEMOLISH HOMES and render your fellow citizens HOMELESS because you have a vision to make Lagos a MEGA CITY SLUM??

In UK & USA, I know and have seen how their govt's provide various forms of housing for the poor, low income earners and you even have homeless shelters being run by some non-profit org.

Yes, their must be a change and their environs is very filthy, but, IS IT TOO MUCH FOR THE FEDERAL OR LAGOS STATE GOVT TO PROVIDE HOUSING FOR THE POOR? They visit USA and UK, they know and have seen PUBLIC HOUSING SCHEMES, why can't they build the same for their citizens? Cos, they will want Lagos to look like London and NY, but, they will not want to give the POOR in Lagos a taste of what the poor in London and NY have.

Must everywhere be BANANA ISLAND? PARK VIEW? VGC or ATLANTIC CITY? The USA & UK have better, clean and more expensive neighborhoods, yet, they recognized the POOR and built world class apartments for the poor.

Why can't this so called "development" ( without electricity) have human face?

I read this report on nytimes. The Governor of Lagos State should bury his head in shame( NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS)! How will the POOR remember you? Well, just please the "elites" and your fine.

it is because the average nigerian has an elitist mentality.even if the nigerian is poor today once gets money tomorrow he begins to look down upon the same poor background he came from because he feels he belongs to another 'class'

If there is a poor man country index - Nigeria is near the bottom. No power, no money, no soul, no voice as far as the political elite are concerned.

The "leaders" hate the masses intensely.
