Kenyans have just elected Uhuru Kenyatta to be their new President. He is wanted for crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court for masterminding election violence five years ago. His running mate has a history of massive corruption and is also on trial at the ICC. Read below...

Kenyans have failed to learn from their own past. Uhuru Kenyatta's father (Jomo Kenyatta) was the first President of Kenya, and also it's first dictator. He was elected, outlawed the opposition party, and then ruled Kenya for 14 years and died in office.

Jomo Kenyatta's Vice President (Daniel arap Moi) became the President upon his death, and preceded to rule Kenya from 1978 - 2002.

Moi, who stepped down after 20 years, selected Uhuru Kenyatta as his chosen successor. Kenyatta lost his first election, didn't run in 2007, and now he is the next President of Kenya. See a trend? Oh, and let's not forget Uhuru is accused of masterminding the deaths of 1,200 people in election violence.

Oh yeah...Kenya is also surrounded by dictators. Rwanda, Burundi, the DRC, South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania are Kenya's closest neighbors. Tanzania is the only one not run by a dictator.

If the past is any indication, if Kenya's neighbors are any indication, if the ICC charges are any indication, if the corruption charges against Kenyatta's running mate are any indication, Kenya is going to be under Kenyatta's rule for a LOOONG time.

Most dictators are originally elected by their people.

Your thoughts?

What an opportunity to comment first.
If the people of Kenya wants Uhuru Kenyatta it is their cup of tea.
Uncle Uhuru is a better candidate, not withstanding allegations levied about election violence.
The margin of defeat though small, but it is good for democracy in Kenya and Africa.
Congrats Uhuru, may your reign bring development, unity and peace.

If I remember well, after the last elections, it was Raila Odinga that made inciting comments that sparked off some violence. However, since he is in the good books of the Western World, he wasn't indicted.
Kenyans have spoken. Let's allow them. I don't care if GEJs son would be next president, all I care for is GOOD GOVERNANCE.
