POLICE ARREST 58-YEAR-OLD WITH LARGE QUANTITIES OF SUSPECTED FAKE DRUGS

If your partner gets pregnant after informing you she “took precaution”, you now know who to hold responsible—fake Postinor merchants. The Punch reports that the Lagos State police command have arrested a man in possession of a large quantity of printed packets for packaging Postinor tablets, five large cartons of Zentel tablets, and thousands of packs of Zentel tablets among other items suspected to be counterfeit drugs and drug-counterfeiting equipment. However, Ikenna Nne, 58, who was arrested at Ejigbo, and accused by the police of producing a “large quantity of” substandard drugs, has denied owning the products or selling them—he only packed them.

Mr Nne said he had worked for a pharmaceutical company in India where he acquired the skills to package drugs and to repair drug packaging machines. He said he merely applied his packaging skills for which he was paid by an accomplice still at large who owned the business. While admitting that the drugs were not produced by the manufacturers written on the labels, he denied that they were fake, saying that he took them and they were effective and he could even administer them to his children.
