Nuzo':
Most terrorist activities in any country are being carried out by foreigners. Nigeria inclusive.

Solution:

1. The government has to embark on general data system where every Nigerian can be identified.

2. Nigeria Immigration service should start mssive deportation of undocumented alliens back to their countries.

3. Some staff of the Nigeria Immigration should stop being sympathetic to illegal alliens due to their ethnic or religious affliation.

4. Report any suspicious persons or activities to security agents. COMMUNITY POLICING!

Until these are done, bombs will soon be going off like Christmas day fireworks.

nku5: 500 foreigners in Lagos

By IFEANYI OKOLI
No fewer than, 500 nationals of some neighbouring countries resident in Lagos, were yesterday arrested by the state police command in connection with Thursday’s arrest of two Boko Haram suspects at Ijora area of the state.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that the arrests which was coordinated by operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau,SIB, and police divisions across the state, were carried out during raids of several locations in the state.

A video grab made on March 21, 2013 from a video distributed to reporters by purported intermediaries of the Islamist group linked to Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, shows the suspected leader of the Nigerian Islamist group linked to Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Imam Abu Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Abubakar Ash Shekawi, also known as Abubakar Shekau, at an undisclosed location in Nigeria. AFP
Some of those arrested, according to eyewitness included women and young children.
But sources at the command said that the raid was reportedly ordered by the state Police Commissioner, Umar Manko, who asked his men to fish out suspected Boko Haram infiltrators into the state.

According to the police sources those arrested were detained at the Police Command’s Headquarters, Ikeja, where they were rigorously interrogated, documented and vetted.
Most of the arrested were later discovered to be Chadians, Nigeriens and Malians who had no proper documentation to stay in the country.

”We are waiting for the CP’s order on what to do with the foreign nationals who do not have any business Lagos” the source stated.

The National Vice Chairman, Arewa Youth Development Association of Nigerian, Shuaibu Dansudu, who was at the command headquarters, to secure the release of some Hausa residents of Oke-Odo Market, Ile-Epo and Oja commended the police for making efforts at ensuring that members of the deadly Boko Haram sect do not infiltrate the state.
Dansudu however, asked the Federal Government to do all it can to ensure that the sect’s insurgency was put to an end.

”Government needs to do all it can to ensure peace in all parts of the country even if it requires granting them amnesty. We can not continue to live like this,” he pleaded
Meanwhile, residents of Oyegbemi Street, at Ijora 7up area of the state where two Boko Haram suspects were arrested have commended the security agencies for apprehending the suspects.

Oluwa Idowu, a resident whose uncompleted building is situated next to the area where one of the suspects was arrested, urged landlords in the state to properly vet their would-be tenants before letting their apartments to them.

”I was shocked when I heard the news but I am not familiar with the man because he just moved in three months ago. But I am grateful to God that he was arrested before he succeed in carrying out his plans. But this issue is an eye opener to landlords and home owners in this state.

We must be wary and properly vet people we rent our apartments to; so we do not fall victims to evil.

By doing so, we will assist the security agents in discharging their jobs,” She stated.

The smart ones on this thread have said it, we need a database.

In the U.S everyone has a social security number unique to them, why can't we have the same.

Drivers license numbers can quickly pull up your information in a cop car, ofcourse the computer in the cop car is linked to a database.

Please we need a real database, I mean this ain't that difficult, gov. needs to step up.

It is the government that will first frustrate the data base inorder to rig their way back to power

The best comment so far..how many israelis and Americans have these foolish nigerian security operatives arrested? Still many nigerians refuse to accept the fact that the US is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world but as always, gullible as they are, will be searching common peasants who are struggling to survive in an evil capitalist system. Nationalize our resources, close the US,French,Israeli and british embassy and we'll have peace in Nigeria and the whole Africa.

Hw come Tinubu and Buhari are still walking free and making comments?
Seriously we can stop d boko haram menace whenever we are ready to. Let every person register wt d local chief of his area within 5hrs of entering an area wt his full particulars and where he'd be staying wch will be communicatd to d police division in d area & such persons shall be put under watch by d police and the community. Let us post policemen back to their place of origin(state police) so dat the ppl they are policing can be able to trust them and come up wt useful information.
It is st.u.pid for us to xpect a kanuri man to report another on d suspicions of being a boko haram member to an Igbo policeman(wt d way we protect 'ours').
Unless we collectively 'watch' and secure ourselves, government's effort will be like water on stone.

Na wa for you o, you want the "real" census figures to be revealed. The north and west will fight every move to have a reliable database with citizens data in it. Can cows have social security numbers? grin
