With due respect Mr Akpota, you are one of the least creative and innovative amongst your dry colleagues. You not only repeat your dry jokes from the first season of Night of a thousand laughs, you copy others from people.

Now, let me address the issues you raised in general terms.
1. Nigerian comedians are not creative because just like an average policeman, they went into the profession solely for economic reasons and not for the love of it.

2. Unlike Nigerian comedians, foreign comedians always have a team of professional writers and composers. People like Jon stewart, Steve Colbert, Chelsea and even hilarious Tina Fey has over 20 writers each.

Nigerian comedians would rather greedily write, compose, direct and produce their shows single handedly. Same mistake can be noticed in the music and movie industry.

3. Nigerian comedians are over paid in proportion to their works. Why would one strive to improve if he's already being paid well for doing nothing.

You also said that musicians can put their songs on replay and still have the crowd mesmerized. Yes! However, you forgot to tell us that most of you are being paid 3 times of what these popular musicians receive. Bear in mind that these musicians come with band members and equipments while all you have to do is show up in your skinny suit.

I will encourage you guys (comedians, musicians, movie makers) to diversify. Meaning that you should read more and be more sensitive to your environment. Scan and spot intelligent and talented writers and composers, don't be greedy...pay them well to write for you. Timaya experimented this method in his latest album and it WORKED!

Just like the natural resources, the entertainment industry is still untapped in Nigeria.
GOD BLESS YOU!!

free2ryhme: In nigerian comedy it is not about creativity it is about making the money ... same for the music industry if at all there is anything like industry

Guy, making money is an art. You have to engage in marathon thinking and work out your a$$. But when the money starts coming, cause it flows like water, most people think you dont deserve the reward. I do not blame the artists but it is always best to remain on top of your act.

Basketmouth is the best in COMEDY so i agree with him.

Re: Nigerian Comedians Lack Creativity – Basketmouth by Emylexray(m): 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2013
This is so unprofessional and treacherous from Basketmouth! How dare he ridicule his fellow colleagues in thesame fold? Its not done anywhere, not in the open! There are etiquettes that must be observed in any profession and that's Respect and loyalty for one another. The worst of it all is that his very self is guilty of this claim that his colleagues are not ''creative''. He is not worthy to say this, established and tailor-made comedians like Ali Baba may say this and be justified. But not Basketmouth!

I bet to disagree with Basket Mouth. Most Nigerian comedians are very creative with their jokes, most especially, AY, Elenu, Seyi Law.. Even Ali Baba himself is still much creative. Its just a few ones who recycle old jokes. Yet I must commend the comedy industry.. They have really improved.

pls tell me,what did timaya did.

Timaya would've faded into obscurity if he had continued with his usual 'dem kill ma mama' chorus.

He diversified.
He change his style of music, producers and paid good money for composers.

Heck why a DJ can keep a club banging with only Timaya's latest album.

But seriously, how do you tell them to quit when they are being paid irrespective of how dry their jokes are?

The people you should be blaming are those who pay N250k and 500k in the name of 'table for 4'. cheesy
