The point am trying to bring out is that, when he was alive, national hounour was given to him by the government of federal republic of nigeria but the Late Prof rejected it, I think giving him state burial will be against his wish now that his no more! Yes, you are right with the bolded part, just like awolowo sees himself as a Yoruba before Nigeria, honestly if GREAT Pro Achebe is a tribal bigot as you said, then he must have attended school of awolowo, meaning awolowo might be his teacher.

Awolowo was only mourned by yorubas, please provide proof that he was mourned world wide.

Awolowo died at 78 years after taking rat poison while Achebe died at 82 after a brief illness, Awolowo implemented the worst set of discriminatory policies every in Nigeria by any body, use of food for war, giving people 20 pounds for what ever they had in bank before and skewed up indigenisation decree.

Achebe deserve a nation burial because of his contribution to education in nigeria and all over africa and the world. his books is been used by over 60 countries including Canadian universities.. including University of toronto, University of calgary, Harvard , yale etc.
