A MAN who had half his body amputated after being run over by a truck has not only recovered but opened his own bargain supermarket - called the Half Man-Half Price Store.

Peng Shuilin stunned surgeons with his recovery after almost two years of painful operations at Bujie Hospital in Shenzhen, southern China.

Now the inspirational 37-year-old has become a businessman and is used as a role model for other amputees.

Hospital vice-president Lin Liu said: "We've just given him a check up and he is fitter than most men his age. He is amazing and the only person in the world to survive having so much of his body amputated.

"He had good care but his secret is his cheerfulness - nothing ever gets him down."

My goodness! he is really an inspiration when in naija, if only one hand is amputated a lot of people render themselves useless for life.

China: 37-year-old Peng Shuilin is being promoted as a role model for people who have to undergo amputations after making a remarkable recovery following a serious truck accident that led to the amputation of the lower half his body.

Doctors had to had to re-route almost all his body's systems and organs over two years and to their surprise he recovered. In addition to speaking on dealing with a disability Peng has opened a supermarket - which he named Half Man-Half Price Store.
